After reading Dave Grohl’s book, it was revealed that this video was actually based off of a dream that he had about seeing many stars turn into ufos and fly around the sky as he heard narration from other beings talking about the “dawn of man”. Dave will always get that musical pass and credibility because he was in one of the most influential bands ever next to Beatles and Led Zeppelin. I love the Foo Fighters. There's a ton of good music if you look hard but these guys bring it. I don't know about now but when it's all said and done they might be top 10 all time. Top 20 for sure

I've listened to many rock musicians and bands, but I gotta say, hands down the best modern one out there "was" Foo Fighters, before Taylor died🥲 I fking appreciate Dave's drumming but the feeling of taylor's drumming is just something else... This song came out right after my dad passed away, this song will always remind me of him. Thank you foo fighters for all of your music through the years. One of the greatest rock bands in the history of rock. My sympathies for all that were close to Taylor, may his music live on forever.

What have the artists said about the song? In an interview with Rolling Stone about the song, Grohl had this to say: I wrote the song towards the end of the album process. We thought we had finished the album and we had a two-week break. I thought to myself, “I got one more song in me, I got one more song in me.” I was laying down in the grass, looking up at the night sky in Hawaii, and I was reminded of this Neil DeGrasse Tyson video that I had watched called, “The Most Astounding Fact”. And I’ve always been a sky-watcher since I was a kid. I’ve always just stared at the sky and waited for a sign. And so I wrote the song “The Sky is a Neighborhood” based on that. It basically talks about the atoms that comprise life on Earth and make up the human body are traceable to the beginnings of our universe. Stars that go unstable and collapse and explode and just scatter their guts, their fundamental ingredients of life are all over the universe and forming solar systems and stars orbiting planets have the ingredients for life itself. And when you look up at the night sky, you realize that you’re not only part of the universe, but the universe is part of us. It really moves me. Moves me too Dave, congrats for another great song and for the great content of the Foo's works of art. Getting more and more great each album.

I got to watch you play one last time in Tempe Arizona this year. My uncle, sister and I sang this song so loud for our recently deceased Grandfather. This song will always remind me of that moment with tears down our face and now our favorite drummer is up there too. rest easy, Taylor.

I remember hearing this song for the first time... it was nearly midnight, me and my grandfather were in Wal-Mart looking for a new speaker. I saw a set of headphones on the rack and I put them on out of curiosity, pressing the play button. This song came on at full volume and I was just swept away by the music. My grandfather came over and tapped me on my shoulder, and when I turned around to look at him he said I had the biggest grin 🤣 I was 11 when this happened and I've never looked at music the same since

LizQuartz to give you further evidence that its big bang..go to foo fighters facebook page and see what he said. He said he wrote the song because he loves to watch the sky and the stars. Big Bang is about astronomy, cosmological. There you have it. Big band doesn't make sense. And lastly, listen carefully to his singing.

dave grohl is a guy that is the work of wonders. regardless of his talent, the man has seen much pain and death in his days. the fact he can relate pain into self healing rhetoric, which im sure heals himself more than it sells records.. is fucking amazing. this is a guy, that came from a very dark place, to fucking rule the charts in the future, and i hope he's happy.

I saw them last night in Cleveland. He had Violet come on stage to sing this and Dirty Water with him. It was fantastic.

Interesting track ^^ I know some peeps will say that this 'is not their sound', but someone says that with every new album. Music is their craft, let em experiment.

The band is awesome, and i love the drummer, but see my comment above about the first Foo album. Dave did the whole thing himself: wrote every song, played every instrument, sang the vocals, mixed and produced it, then, finally, when he was ready to tour it, he hired the band. I think they've improved, and grown since then, but Dave is still a major talent. Check his bio- he works with other major bands all the time. I said it above: he's a real rock star.

Agustin eusebi, the comment I meant is almost the same as the one you replied to. Someone said something about the Foo Fighters' first album, crediting the entire band. Dave made that whole album himself. (By the way, I can't find that comment, either. There are too many notifications and comments.) Your English is quite good. "O" is just a typo, and in the context you meant, "a real rock star" is the correct grammar.

God this song…it wasn’t what I was expecting but it floored me. Starts of like it may be a mellow laid back Foo song and then….BAM! Great tune by the Foos!!

For those of you that don't know, the name Foo Fighters comes from World War 2. Pilots created the name after seeing UFOs and light orbs during their recon runs and battles. I assume this is the reason for the album with the spheres connected, and the alien disintegrator and also this video with the alien referencing and the orbs. This year of 2023 is also The Year of the Orb, and suddenly UFO & Orb sightings have gone up 500% this year already. Let's hope they're a good thing.

Been to a number of their concerts and watch their videos all the time, it's just so sad losing Taylor after Chris Cornell and Chester. I just wish people that brought so much joy, life and energy to others could have it themselves. RIP, some ripping jam sessions up in heaven! 🙂

At first I thought it was “Oh my dear Heaven is a big band now” I thought it was like a reference to past rockers jamming in Heaven and we are the ones banging on the ceiling because we can’t get to sleep because they are rocking the sky so loud. I like my version.
