@BakeToRise And don’t forget to add “on stage in California at the Los Angeles Forum”, and thanks to this video being online, Nandi will be able to whip out her phone (or whatever device we’re using then) and show you :) For me, I think that the best part was at the 2:10 mark even before Nandi’s performance

For those who don't drum, this is a very complex song to drum to with very fast, very odd transitions that requires a ton of endurance. To my knowledge, Dave has never allowed a drummer come on stage to play this particular song because he knows they're probably gonna screw it up or get tired and fall behind. The fact that he allowed her to play this song says that he has the utmost confidence in her abilities.

This is a wonderful comment - thanks so much! I'm not a drummer, and while many comments have said some version of what you did, there have also been a number of blowhards who have said some version of "I don't see what the big deal, this song is so easy to play" 🙄 As far as I know, you're the first person to point out that they never before had a guest drummer for "Everlong". Nandi really owned her moment, surely creating the opportunity for her to have many more moments like this in the future.

I love stuff like this and I love that Grohl and the FF give opportunities to their fans that probably change the trajectory of their lives when they don’t have or need to even acknowledge them. Nandi shredded this song and I’m so glad she got props from both Grohl and Taylor Hawkins, two of the best drummers to ever live. When he sadly passed, I was kinda hopeful they’d get her to replace him.

I’ve played the drums on and off for 20 years, that song is a sleeper. The verse is hard to play once the kick drum starts hitting with the guitar rhythm. Listen for it. The high hat repetition actually makes it difficult IMO. Its “easy” to play per se, but by the end of the verse that section will mess up your timing if you’re even slightly out of practice and expose you. She absolutely killed it!!! Well done.

I'm not a drummer but I am a figure skater and you learn ALOT about music and beats. I KNOW how fast of a drummer you have to be to keep up with this song. I actually skated to it for competition when it first came out. Most songs have a beat of 1,2 3,4 or 1,2,3 4,5,6 this one is 1,2,1,2 then a quick change to 1,2,3 and again to 1,1,1 then back to 1,2 it's game of speed and endurance. I got many a first place because of the footwork I did to drum beats. The crazy transitions and switch up of the beat is practically unheard of. For an 11 yr old to play that? That is Sevant level playing right there yall

When I was young there was a huge bias against girl drummers, but I had a hippie violin teacher who taught me in my grade school, and then fought for me to get a try out for marching band at the Jr. High level. They weren't even going to let me try out. Then I kicked ass for 1st chair in band, jazz band and was put into the High School band when I was in 7th grade. Thank you Mrs. Sheely!

@@Triumph-nz8pt I think you're underselling yourself and about this idea of "success"... what is success? If, at some point, you thought you'd be the next Nancy Wilson or Orianthi... well, you need more than skills for that, you need a break and a bit of luck too. I had my 2 guitar lessons when I was 12, now 33 years later I WISH that I continued learning on my own, since momma couldn't afford more lessons. I didn't and I'm jealous that you stuck to it, I'd give a lot to possess 1/10th of your ability... Or someone else who had been feted by Chad Smith on his YT channel before this concert perhaps? (and appearing on his channel during this same US visit to play with TFF) Or someone who has numerous drum coaches on YT watching and commenting on her vids because of her skill perhaps? Or some other kid who had been chosen to appear in a commercial playing drums because she was so well known for playing drums at 9 perhaps? Bless Groghl for giving that unknown kid 5 mins of fame, she must have really needed it! Or, and here's a little dose of reality for you. She genuinely loves and admires Groghl and TFF for his prowess, she challenged him and beause he's a nice chap, he responded. Thanks to him, her recognition shot up with people like you who might not have heard of her because you're not a drum fiend, but those that knew, knew. She'll go far but on her own terms i suspect. I hope Nandi keeps playing. If she can play like that at 11 shw is going to be a MONSTER drummer when she is 20. I'm really looking forward to buying her first album, the girl rocks.
