Well it captures the emotions of a quite eventful time in Dave Grohls live. As far as I know I know he wrote it in a time and where he and his back then wife drifted apart. At the same time he fell in love with someone new. Must have been quite a lot to take in and I think it shows.

EASY?! Am I then the only one who finds the descending octaves with the droning D in the bridge impossible to play? And the rest of the song isn't precisely a walk in the park. Yes, it uses simple chord shapes and the rhythm isn't that difficult. But it's definitely not easy to play accurately. Periphery songs give me an easier time.

There's just something about this song that resonates within me so deeply, it nearly brings me to tears, and I can't even describe what it is about this song.

Nice, short video format for those of us who can pick up a song fairly quickly but require a visual representation to get the broad strokes and/or fill in the blanks. Great job by the way!

So far I've seen that my strumming pattern is different than anyone elses. I do the Grhol down stroke thing, but for parts that have that lead riff, since I can't do the chord progression AND the lead riff at the same time (others can, but I apparently suck at it) I do this acousticy type of strumming pattern instead that I learned from Marty Schwartz.

Does Pat usually play the same parts as Dave, and Chris comes in with the secondary “Do-Do-Do-Do-Do-Da-Do part when played live? It typically was Dave playing part 1 and Chris playing part 2 for years as a 4 piece band. I’m assuming when Pat rejoined and the band had 3 guitarists that he played Dave’s part on Everlong in sync. Could be totally wrong, but interested to find out.

I can hear the clean guitar's pop in the song while it's playing the verse with the main guitar.

finally someone played this song correctly i wanted to play on three guitars: Acoustic guitar for Intro (Except in live version plays along entire song) Lespaul (Rhythm guitar) Gretsch guitar (Sorry for a spelling of that guitar name that Dave used) (Lead/Rhythm) BTW where did you get that sound exactly like original from?
