So interesting. I mean, a tribute to Sinead O'Connor with Alanis Morissette makes so much sense, but they're stylistically so different and Mandinka (that whole album, really) made such a sonic impression on me when it came out that it took me awhile to just enjoy what Morisette was doing and not expect it to sound like the original. (I love covers, as a rule, and I love hearing artists put their own spin on them, so I guess it says something about how 'The Lion and The Cobra' landed on some of us back in the day.) (Also, I really enjoyed this once I got over myself.)

Great tribute and cover-you can really hear the influence she had on Alanis's Jagged Little Pill sound here. That said, I find it a little odd that everyone and their mother is lining up to pay tribute to Sinead when she was completely chewed up and spit out by the record industry and exiled from the culture at large, at least in the US. As Morrissey pointed out, she sold 7 million records for her label and they dropped her.

All she wanted was to put love into the world through song and get some back. RIP Barrd! I love Alanis and she's super talented, but she also emphasises just how amazing our Sinead was and the phenomenal voice she had.
INCREDIBLE job by Alannis for even attempting this gigantic song!! ✨🤘🏼 Rock in Peace/Rest in Power Sinéad O'Connor ☮️❤️🙏🏼
So cool that they did that. Its the ultimate compliment when your peers play your music. Just for a very sad sad reason. Sinead’s voice and spirit lives on.

They didn't play it when she was alive.
Good job such a hard song to sing. One of my favorites! She made Sinead proud. Alanis is such a professional, and knows her own voice range limits. She sang it perfect within her own range. Sinead's voice range was off the charts loud and strong. Especially when she sang Mandinka, her voice was exceptional. Both have unique beautiful voices.

This was the song that got me into new wave/alternative or what ever you called it when I first heard it at 10....thank you O'Connor and you Foos with Alanis for letting me relive that feeling all over again. Be at peace Sinead. I do know Mandinka. So I will give you my heart.
Sinead was a beast of a singer. Loved her work in Massive Attack.
Sinéad O'Connor will be with us whenever we play and hear her songs. 💔 💜
Love it - even with Alanis's powerful voice, she couldn't replicate Sinead's banshee wail

I feel badly for Alannis. These vocals are very very differant than her voice. She is getting older. Her voice is changing. As an older singer (62) I can attest how difficult it is. Sinead was Irish. Her songs work with her voice because they are IRISH. The Celtic tradition is strong.

@@tamarakonczal7975 You are 100% correct. It's brilliant of Alannis to even step up to attempt this. Seems like a simple song but in terms of power and range it's a big challenge. Shows us how good O'Connor was ☘

Yeah that was tough one , a very difficult song, O’Connor impossible to emulate, she did a great job all the same, she deserves the credit.
This is the only video that gets me about her death..... Sinead had a hard time for her last years but in the early days she was punk as hell....who else would have the guts to do what she did on SNL.... I'm old enough to remember seeing it live & the absolute hatred she put up with after it
There is a lot of love in that arena for Sinead. Great vocal from Alanis Morissette and Foo's just love that guitar and drum rift, pure honest rock from the Legend Sinead O'connor.
Alanis Morissette and Foo Fighters doing a tribute to Sinead O'Connor...doesn't get more 90's nostalgic than this! R.I.P. Sinead!!!

Thanks Alanis and the Foos. This is fabulous and beautiful. Sinead would be chuffed to bits x
It's hard to sing her! So this is beyond beautiful :)
So glad to see this one covered.

Alanis, did do a fantastic job. Its not easy to follow Sinead’s vocals. Ive been trying to for years and the struggle is real. Fucking love her so much, she is most definitely my Angel. She can now see how much she meant to me all these years in unconditional love. Healing Room is so so healing..
She is so beautiful..💕
Oh my, what a beautiful tribute to such a beautiful artist. And beautiful soul
I'm just glad that they honor Sinead with a song she actually wrote
Alanis is the only one to do this tribute. Struggling or not she is as timeless as Sinead was. RIP.

Love Alanis❤❤
Where were all these people talking about the greatness of SInead when the world was treating her like shit? How many wrote to her and told her how much her music filled their life. The saddest part of Sinead, which she was very good putting into song, was that she felt alone. She was a voice in music that only comes along generationally or more. All she wanted was to put love into the world through song and get some back. RIP Barrd! ("Troy", is one of my favorite songs of all and , "The Lion and the Cobra", was one of my favorite albums, got me through some tough times)
Gracias Alanis por este respetuoso homenaje ❤😢
This was amazing just to see these great musicians come together to pay respects to Sinead. Always loved this song, and Sinead's vocals. A very sad loss. ❤

Sinead sang from the depth of soul she had! She sang from the pain, hurt and injustice in this world and her own childhood. She was a magical warrior who fought every hormone in her body ! ! Drs failed her The industry failed her Her religion failed her Her mother failed her And yet she stood up and fucking fought!
