That song, that album, got me thru high school. And being Irish I looked up to her and hoped someday I'd be able to do something, ANYTHING, with that level of passion and skill. But as we know, life, mental health, tragedy and loss can and do get in our way sometimes. I will, however, continue to look up to her. It will just be to the heaven above. One of Ireland's most fierce warrior poets. Thank you.

21 years old, walks out. Full of confidence. Doesn't care about the status quo. Belts it out. Doesn't hang about for praise or self admiration. That's how it's done. Power house of a person. R. I. P. Sinead. May you live on through your music.

Not exactly ... it's lip-synced ... don't get me wrong, she's freaking awesome, as is this song (played the hell out it when it came out, that whole record) but this is the studio recording, including the voice, unfortunately.

Super underrated song too! It might actually be my favorite. But it never got the airtime or props it deserves. It's the song I hear in my head when anyone mentions her 💙

Her grammy live performance with this song was outstanding, and that moment was the first time ever she had shown to the world who Sinead O'Connor is. R.I.P.

There will never be a voice like hers ever again! I LOVED her when this album came out, especially this song! Her talent is simply incredible, and she didn’t need any sexy clothes or dance moves, she was simply herself and it was beautiful!

Such an incredible voice and one of my favourites of all time. Sinéad was a moment in time. No flash, no posh, just pure raw talent. She will be terribly missed. May her voice carry with all the angels. 💙

Never a more powerful singer like her... nothing, just her thunder voice...

100% true. She is the most honest person to set foot on most stages anywhere. How she was stomped on for being a person willing to call out a messed up system. It hurts me thst she isnt selling out stadiums and revered by all the way a true inspirational talent should be.

If this was today, Sinead will be inundated with praise for a performance so true to herself and so devoid of pretension. She was shy, fresh, rocking a look that was truly her and most of all - she brilliantly gave her all in this performance. RIP Sinead and thank you for the music.

First performance I ever saw of her was this one. I was glued to my TV. That voice was magic.

I remember seeing this performance on the Grammy's . . . and she was the ONLY person I remembered. What a performance!

This was a performance as a grammy nominee for this single and her self written/self produced breakthrough album The Lion and the Cobra. Almost 2 YEARS b4 the global hit she had with the Prince song Nothing Compares to you. - which blinded many to the fact that Sineads 11 Albums and 1000s of unique live performances were evidence of her status as a creative force in her own right. Here she displays the bald head she shaved when record executives told her to " look pretty", the logo of some disenfranchised Rappers on the side of her head in solidarity, and her sons babygro hanging from her back pocket in response to the record companys order to have an abortion or you will have no career. Sinead the fragile Warrior.

World was shitty to such an amazing talent. Her vocals are on a whole other level.

Sinéad singing live in these youtube videos is my misery antidote. I adore her and her honesty. She is the only "celebrity" I want to meet. Everything she is about fascinates and speaks to me.

I still adore Sinead all these years later. She is sooo fierce and brave!! I LOVE that about her!!!

She did and said everything that she needed to do and say. Never backing down from any challenge or injustice. She left this a far better world than the world she entered. God bless her and keep her forever.

Seriously her voice is unique, so loud, so brave, but with range and melody, never annoying. I seriously can't think of anyone to compare to too. Goosebumps!!!!

She sounded just as good live as in studio. Most artists can't pull that off. RIP Sinead.😢 have a Guinness with Delores...your demons are now gone.

She was so amazing, as she always was. But this was the kind of performance I'm sure she found difficult, but she was able to put on a real show, with just herself on stage. She was brilliant.

Just listening to her memoir Remembering, 7 Hours, I’m about 1:30 hours into it. She speaks about the nun that worked at the “place of safety she was in when she was 15…. This nun traveled the world as a nun and was in Africa and she told her about Mandika …. So I came here to listen to it as I’m going through all her music, I especially love the empire’s new clothes. I was 10 when I heard nothing compares to you (I only found out a few years ago prince actually wrote it) did not change my feelings because prince was also cool (talented, deep, real) so I feel guilty that I never knew how super talented she was, because lets face it after the pope incident they cut her off - everyone even the fans - so she was never promoted like the cranberries - so I was never exposed to it (my mom was a manager at a record store in South Africa CNA) I grew up always listening to radio and eventually mtv, and that time if someone had the CD at party the chances were you’re not going to play it… so yeah she was definitely one of a kind - music is good it makes us feel- when you hear music it should make you happy (dancing) sad emotional meaning-
