Fantastic work! As a one time (10y r.) Gunnison resident. with 2 boys born there in the late /60's & early'70''s, and an avid DSP&P Como Project supporter/ follower, I hope it could be completed all the way to Como!

I have dreamed of doing a video of the entire South Park line (at least as much roadbed as can be accessed). Not sure it could ever happen, but it would be very cool!

I knew a woman, Sarah Trine, whose parents operated Johnson's restaurant in Gunnison. Sarah had a cabin in Pitkin. I visited there in the early 1970's.

I've commented on your work before, which was _lovely_ then and is only becoming more refined. Haven't visited your channel in a while so this series was an welcome surprise and watching the first one was _amazing!_ - the stabilized video creates a compelling illusion of the smoothness of the actual train. Now not only do I all but _hear_ the little engine panting up the grade, the visual smoothly shows the surroundings moving in a way I haven't seen since my last trip up the grade in 1988 (on a mountain bike). I had forgotten that aspect, that in person (as opposed video) your brain compensates for your motion so that you "see" the smooth motion as from a train (unless you're driving and unusual roughness makes you preoccupied with the road). Watching your video brought it all back. In full-screen it's a _compelling_ experience! Additionally, your side images and maps add immensely to the experience. You deserve to have a million views, hundreds of thousands of followers, and thousands of likes. I'm very glad that despite lacking those signs of approbation, you are still creating these works of art that show my beloved Alpine Tunnel route in such an excellent fashion. In my advancing age and decrepitude, it's the closest I'll ever get to my beloved Tunnel. "Thank You" is far too tame, and "God bless you" is certainly not over the top. If this comment almost seems like "condemning with faint praise," know this - my previous missive to you was me at the top of my form - from which apex I am now descending. Put up a Patreon and I'll put my money where my mouth formerly was.

How does one respond to such praise?! Thanks for your encouragement and I'm so glad that these videos have been a great way to revisit the Alpine Tunnel. I love that place too and since I can't visit there very often, it's wonderful for me to be able to rewatch these. I wish I had more time to make more videos. At the moment I am focusing on a C&S writing project which takes away from my time to put videos together. Anyway, I will gladly accept your "God bless you"! Thank you and God bless you too!

I hope you'll continue this with additional parts covering the whole route up to the West Portal. I drove this several years ago, but it's still fun to see it again. Thanks!

Yes, I hope to continue with more. I have a partial one called "Sherrod Loop 2018" that rides the right-of-way from Woodstock to Sherrod curve

Great to see the map of how the RR went through Pitkin and then turned up towards Alpine Tunnel West Portal. From what I understand quartz and Gold were what the miners were looking for and that it was melted down too see how much gold was contained in the sample. If you found enough gold you could stake a claim just about anywhere as long as you could show some improvements to the land you could continue to keep it.

What do you use for your maps. I want to make or find a website that like Google maps but for existing and abandoned Railroads.

It's an overlay someone made to work with Google Earth. I don't know how they made it. It can be found on the Denver South Park and Pacific Historical Society website links page.
