The new setup is much better. I personally like a clear desk with as little in the way of visible cables as possible.

Yep, less is better. I do not care too much about cables under the desk, but desk should be clean to feel good.

The new setup looks nice and clean. I started to notice the same thing, I don't have 2 external monitors, but even when I sit on my main external monitor in the center and laptop monitor is on the left side, I feel like its more distracting me instead of helping me to do the job and I close the laptop lid to stay only with external monitor which is only 27 inch but its enough.

Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication. I am still rocking the DELL S3222DGM with my MacBook Pro 2017 with some docker containers. I am actually keeping the laptop in clamshell. When I am gaming with the kids the Windows laptop Asus ROG Zephyrus G15 GA502IV is also in clamshell. When I was streaming for me it was enough to keep the laptop screen open for chats and obs. How is Sonoma for you?

When M3 Max chip will come out I will look for upgrade and hopefully my mac will be able to handle streaming and work at the same time. Now it is more effective to stream from PC and then I need more than two monitors for comfortable work :(

I almost bought the new Rode card as well, but as you, I’m not even streaming right now, so I passed. Love the new setup, less “noise” is always the best for the mind. 😍

It is usable for meetings as well, but do we really need that ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I'm not dropping streaming completely, but yeh doing that less often then before.

Looks like a big improvement! Hope you're achieving the mental health boost you were looking for. How do you capture the screen from your Mac when you stream? Specifically, is there some kind of capture card that will let you capture the full resolution (5K) and will let you have passthrough to continue working on the Studio Display?

I recently found your channel and i am really enjoying your feel good , relaxing type of content you have. I am trying to learn programming, specifically IOS Swift atm, id love and I’m sure others would also. A Playlist for a beginner, teaching basic terms, how to use Xcode effectively ect. Just your experience for a new beginner, possibly some small basic project tutorials like creating app for a couple different games and utilities such as. Snake, space invaders, Mario like game. Todo list, reminder type app and some type of tracker app for like fitness or habits. Please 😊❤

Glad to know you like the general vibe of the channel. Not sure I will do programming tutorials anytime soon, mostly because there are specialised channels with just that content and they are good. So, I do not see that I can add much there, but I'm getting requests for that content, so will see.

Well, can't count how many times I've changed monitors setup, but now stick to 32" in the center and 2x27" vertically on the sides. This way I can have IDE on the main monitor, Safari on the left and e.g. Outlook + terminal on the right... Additionally Visual Studio Code Insiders have option to detach editor windows so I can move it/them to the side monitors.

Can you run a windows laptop and a mac laptop into the studio display and use the Rodex streamer to toggle between them?

Yesterday I replaced lg 38'' ultrawide with Apple Display. 5k is enough to split 2 things side by side if I need it for programming. Less is more they say... I'm wondering how long it will stay I've got a little adhd when it comes to my setup, constant change, looking for peace of mind and esthetic look...

Nice setup! I didn’t know about the Rode gadget for hdmi and mic. Is it enough by itself to amplify the shure mic or do you also need a cloudlifter ?

Thanks! This Rode product is relatively new, a few months maybe. So far I'm happy with it, didn't run in any problems in my use cases. I'm using it with Shure MV7 without cloudlifter and it works fine, I could add even more gain for it. Input volume was on about 60% in this video.

Awesome video as always! What is your preferred window layout? What if you need documentation, IDE, and output windows all one one display? I know we have window placement managese, but does flipping between them help you focus?

I'm using BetterTouchTool to stick app windows to specific parts of the screen. I still have laptop next to me, so if I need fulls screen documentation page or tutorial opened, it goes there.

Nice setup. ❤ The room sounds a little hard and bright: might want a wall hanging or something to soften the sound in the new location.

Yeh, audio is far from perfect. Camera microphone was in omnidirectional setting, that could increase echo in the video. I will play around with settings and maybe will try another microphone before looking for sound panels

Two weeks later - how is this setup going? I use a MBP for work and custom Windows rig for gaming, have the Prod Display XDR, two Apple Studio Displays, and an M32U (which I love and it's great for both dev and gaming). I am not using all the monitors at once but am trying to find the ideal setup. I am also struggling with location as I have an office and a spare room, but having a computer in each one feels weird, so I'm not sure if I should do two desk in one room, two computers on one desk, or two desk in two different rooms... decisions decisions. But to the point of this video - all of the clutter is absolutely distracting.

Dude, your setup sounds like a mess :D Sometimes I like to have as much displays as possible, but it becomes messy quickly. I'm still going strong with two separate desks. Will see how long this will last :)
