    Just bought one. I also bought a couple of canopies and cockpits so I can make a "proper" cockpit with a more realistic (not little person) pilot. I saw some ideas for a sliding canopy but will work it out and reduce the foam width of the fuselage at the cockpit and reinforce with CF instead. That moves the cockpit sides to a more realistic width. Plan to 3D print interior parts too. I'll post as I get it worked out.

    i have three dream planes.... the 1700mm Ferocious Frankie P-51, the RocHobby Strega (because i grew up right next to Reno and saw the air races every year), and the 1400mm FMS P-51B Dallas Darling. i am a huge P-51 fan because they are so epic in the air, and fly so well. one day soon, i will have those models. lets just hope it is sooner rather than later...... and, as always, supurb job on the video. you always have the best RC videos i have seen online.

    This is a sweet plane! I really like watching the real P-51's flying in air shows. As soon as I get my skills honed better, I will be getting one of these birds. Do they offer one in a Nitro or gas powered version? I'm a nitro person myself, but this brushless electric model is really nice, and looks easy to build. Thanks for the nice video, and excellent piloting skills.

    Great review and, WOW, a gorgeous plane but LOL the tiny pilot looks waaaaaay too small... and short! Looks like the height-challenged elf has to look up to see outside the cockpit! At this price range I wish FMS would give the buyer the choice of silver or olive drab airframe sporting basic AAC decals and include a few sets of different popular WWII scheme decals to personalize it. Gotta admit I don't care much for the Bunnie or Ferocious Frankie schemes. Looks like a fantastic scale-flying model, though. Merry Christmas from Thailand!

    Looking to buy this plane soon. Two questions: 1. The wing screws under the gear doors, with four other wing screws is it possible to omit those screws completely or are they absolutely necessary? 2. How difficult is it to swap that motor out with an upgraded, more power option? I’m new to electrics and new, again, to RC flying after a long hiatus from the hobby. Thanks for any help. Great video!

  • @RCINFORMER

    Can you put a longer arm on the servo? Or if you have an extra channel, plug the cooling door into an aux channel and make a mix where the flaps the master and the door servo is the slave. Then increase the end points or travel of the cooling door servo.... You should also be able to reverse this door electronically, so it moves in the correct direction:)

    Great video. I acquired one from a garage sale unbuilt. However, it was missing parts. The fuselage plastic parts . That's not a problem i can get them 3d printed. The main problem is the wing tubes are missing. Horizon doesn't expect to see them till september. May i ask you to measure those tubes? diameter and the dihedral angle. TY

    +Todd Ullmann They are all good. Both the Corsair and the P-51 are my favorite of the 1700mm FMS planes... The P-51 is like flying a Cadillac, it is smooth, stable and very maneuverable. The Corsair is a bit more of an aggressive flyer, it is bit more nimble.... however both are very comparable. The P-47 has been discontinued. You will be happy with any of the 3... I keep a receiver in all 3 and fly them often simply because they are the best!

The investment required for one of these models for somebody like FMS would be up around US$150-$200K just to make the moulds-Plus you have to remember if you were to buy the same aircraft made from ply/balsa as an ARF how much it would cost you to set it up to the same standard-when you think of it from that perspective you realise these things really are not that expensive in the grand scheme of things🙂 thanks for watching and supporting the channel we really appreciate it👍

    This plane flies like a trainer...and its slow like a trainer...looks fast on this vid but thats bc the flights are low altitude to make the back drop visually fast speed. But if you look at the loops yoy can tell lacking of power. For 3D and edf guys like me...this plane lacks the power when stock.

  • @RCINFORMER

    @RCINFORMER

    8 жыл бұрын

    +Wefinance01 Define "lacking of Power"? We clocked it on Radar at over 80mph... This is not a 3D plane, it is a scale model... This plane has plenty of power! I have been flying the actual plane seen the video for 2 years now... it has been to 2 SEFF & 2 Joe Nall events as well as numerous smaller events... what you are saying is simply false.....

  • @Wefi01

    @Wefi01

    8 жыл бұрын

    I believe you defined it at 80mph..mine out of the box is not getting that unless it's on a dive. This thing can barely perform a wide loop or a half Cuban. Just got mine from MotionRC two weeks ago. I would be lucky to get 55-60mph stock. This is all on good batteries rate 6-120c 4000mah and 5000mah - batteries that performed fantastic on my EDF jets. In addition, one of my landing gear does not retract do to a faulty retract end switch. You show me on film, with an accurate radar gun, where you have 80mph straight run on stock with no molestation on the power setup or modification on the prop. Just because you flown it at SEFF or Joe Nall...that doesn't make it fly 80 mph. As you notice, several people on RCGROUPS have complained about the lack of speed on this bird to the point that many used zip tie mod to change the pitch of the blade. Yeah it is not 3D, but it also is not fast like you claim to be and definitely underscores the real warbird. Your claim versus what I see - I will take what I see and experience any day.

    +Wefinance01 Are you using a 6s pack? check the timing of your ESC and run it on a watt meter to check the output. Mine is totally stock with NO modifications of anykind! The ziptie mod can over amp the ESC & I have NOT done this or any other mod to mine.... I Just flew it this weekend at a 2 day event at the Triple Creek RC event here in Florida. I would be happy to meet you anywhere with my model to demo it for you if you live in Florida. After flying it at SEFF & Joe Nall on the event circuit for 2 years now, Many can attest to its speed and performance in the stock configuration. Again, ALL my videos of this plane are of MY ALL STOCK MODEL WITH NO MODIFICATIONS OF ANY KIND! Sorry, but there are many folks that are falsely bashing this model... It is simply the finest foam P-51 on the market! Again, I will be happy to demo the model in person for anyone... Just name the time and place!
