I've been flying mine for years with the original motor. I upped the speed by slipping a short, 1mm thick zip tie portion behind each of the four prop blades, behind the ramped section where the blade mounts to the hub. That small pitch increase was just enough to obtain scale speed and still have enough thrust for very large loops. I also replaced the pathetic small scale pilot with a larger one from Aces of Iron and it looks terrific. The pilot is a tad oversized for this scale of a plane but looks so much better than too small. I trimmed the lower shoulders to get it to fit from the bottom of the cockpit, installing a new, lite ply floor. To enjoy this plane at its full potential, don't horse it around the sky, but perform large, graceful turns. I make a gear up and gear down pass that spectators appreciate since the sequence is slow (horizon to horizon) and includes the inner doors. It will do amazing spins, outside loops, split-s turns, waterfalls and fast/low passes. On landings, it has sufficient weight to cut power on a gentle descending, 150 foot final with full flaps to perform a very scale, feather light landing. At six-inch elevation, pull back on the elevator very slowly and the plane lands perfectly, every time. A great end to a 5-min routine on a 6S-4000 mAh battery. Other pilots will sit sit down and watch the flight due to the magnificent presence it has in the air. The sound, the look, the grace; the perfect large foam warbird. I guess it was too expensive for some to sell a lot of them so it was discontinued, but I've slowly sold all my other warbirds. This one is a real keeper. A resounding crowd pleaser. I fly it in the opening ceremonies of the Hiller Museum Air Show in CA each year. Never fails to impress.

Rich, another good video. My FF likes to have the radiator vent door open in flight as an air exit. I notice that it seems a bit quicker that way, and everything comes down a little cooler if I am heavy on the throttle for the whole flight. Happy landings!

Hey there, This is one of the best videos I've seen. Great aircraft no matter it is a RC airplane, excellent and very professional preflight; in fact this is the only one pilot I've ever seen taking the time to it. Great takeoff and both landings were pretty pro and did it great also. I'm a retired pilot but I feel the urge to get back online with this kind of works. Thank you. Please keep up the excellent work people.

Man, I wish FMS would start making these again. The 1700mm P47 revisited would be nice too.

I've always admired this plane but it's way overdue for an overhaul, including a more powerful engine. Hopefully FMS will step as they are on the 1700mm Corsair

What is the set-up ? Mine doesn't fly nearly as good as yours. Battery, motor esc, c rating ?

did you have to upgrade the esc with the motor?

Play it at half speed and it looks so real

I actually have that plane and the original one is very under powered and very nose heavy. The battery bay has little to no room to improve CG.

What is a good motor upgrade size for this plane Rich? Mine flies a little anemic. Thanks ..

Use the FMS 5060 360kv. That gives it a good boost.
