Flying to Mexico from Canada in 2022 | Our travel experience

We were fortunate enough to fly to Mexico for a 3-week travel adventure in January 2022. A lot of people have had questions about what it's like to travel right now, so in the video we share our experience of flying from Canada to Mexico, what it's like in Mexico right now, what extra expenses we had, and what it was like flying home from Mexico to Canada.

    A good piece of advice for Canadians travelling to Mexico is to try to fly direct and NOT to transit through the USA. Otherwise, you'll need to provide a pre-departure negative rapid antigen test result to the USA authorities.

    Hi, we are flying from Thunder Bay to Puerto Vallarta in September. Our first time flying since 2019. I'm glad that the flight restrictions are now lifted (aside from mask wearing on the aircraft, which we do not mind)! We always fly with Westjet.

    Curious as to how many days INM gave you permission for on your FMM tourist permit when you arrived in PV. Did INM ask you for accommodation documentation then set your days based on that or just give you the standard 180 days? Thanks.

    If I go Mexico and wish to stay about 1 month and 15 days with confirmed return ticket...will immigration allow me to stay that Long or force me to leave Mexico after 20-25 days?.. cause I been hearing lots of people are given fixed amount of days to stay...

    How many hours before flight to Mexico do you recommend being at YWG? Did WestJet cancel your return flight? If so, did you have to pay to rebook your flight?

  • @HeGoesSheGoes

    @HeGoesSheGoes

    Hi Tanya, thanks for watching! WestJet recommends 4 hours(!) but we arrived to YWG about 2 hours before our flight and had plenty of time. We only travel with carry-on though and had checked-in online before arriving, so your mileage may vary. WestJet did not cancel our return flight. We had a flight canceled within Mexico - Mexico City to Puerto Vallarta - which we had to rebook ourselves. Hope that helps!

    @@tanyagwilkins962 We had an amazing trip and have a bunch more Mexico food and travel videos coming, so stay tuned! In Puerto Vallarta we checked in online without any issue, but also made sure to go to the self-serve kiosk at the airport to scan our passports and print out our boarding passes. It's not required, but it completes the process and is easy to do.

    No, not that I know of, which is part of why Brian Peckford is suing the Canadian government, he says the Charter of Rights ensures freedom to travel within Canada AND to freedom to leave Canada, yet those things are being restricted. My sister in Canada says she is not allowed to enter the airport when she takes my mother for a flight because my sister is not vaxed!
