Flying Geese Quilts

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Flying Geese heading north for the summer represented slaves heading north as well. They were directed to follow the geese, and stop at the same waterways for rest and water. Follow Eleanor as she flies through a quick way of making four geese from two squares!

I’ve been an Eleanor fan for many years and have quite a collection of her books - both piecing and appliqué! It’s so nice to revisit her videos and remind myself just how to use certain tools - like the flying geese ones I already have! Thanks!

I like how you give details about the habits of geese. It actually made me want to make a flying geese quilt knowing this background information. All your details about measuring and lining things up properly will help me in accuracy and the end product more successful and satisfying. The scenes of the young girls in your class as they progressed in making their quilts made me smile. I'll bet situations like that are more fulfilling to you than your financial success, right? Thanks, Eleanor; you always brighten my day.

I learned all about quilts during the northern journey of slaves from Eleanor. I wonder if she was a school teacher? Home Ec or History?🙋

I'm hand piecing one of these right now. (I don't have room to put a machine) I am having a devil of a time finding the right lattice fabric for my in between strips though.
