    well you have to get an hpa tank, regulator, then a engine, then a receiver, fcu and battery, and somehow hold the barrel, then have enough power to fly it all.

    Being an A-10 crew chief myself, I gotta say this design is AMAZING. It looks AWESOME. For when you actually get a gun in that thing, take note that the gun on an a-10 is actually a little left of center so the firing barrel is centerline (fires from 9 o'clock position looking down the gun) to assist with the power situation, try having a much more aggressive AOA on the rear props as well as slightly higher RPM to overcome the stress on the motor and the prop itself during acceleration, see if you can't program in a slight delay front to rear props to allow the accelerated air enough time to reach the rear prop before it tries to move alot of air at a really fast speed.

    Wucifer slayer the a-10 cost less to fly, build, maintain, and operate, than the other fighters in our military, and yet it still does the CAS job better than any other weapons delivery system. Sure it's not the prettiest plane but I'll be damned if another plane does its job better.

    As a 35+ year modeler and a 25+ year aero engineer, and a long-time fan of the Warthog, I DIG WHAT YOU ARE DOING HERE. Let me add a little constructive criticism tho. One of my projects during my career was the design of a wind tunnel. Since you are making thrust with two windy tubes on this plane, let me tell you a bit of what I know about windy tubes: THE SPEED OF THE AIR AT THE BACK IS THE SAME AS THE SPEED OF THE AIR AT THE FRONT. If the diameter of the tube is the same, the speed has to be the same. Air will speed up only if the tube gets smaller (diameter) and will slow down if the tube expands. But since you have essentially a straight tube, with the same prop at both ends, the speed will be the same. If you do a little measuring/ analysis of how much power the motors are drawing, you can see how much more pitch you can add to the prop without overheating the motor or esc. HOWEVER, the pitch should be the same on the back and the front. Other ways to help the thrust of the motors: Add a rounded inlet lip to the front of the nacelle (3d print?) It will make the air flow into the prop more evenly and give better thrust. Fill the space between the two motor frames with material to help streamline the installation. Add a rocket-tube between the motors, and fill the space between the struts with foamboard. Add a spinner to each prop as well. It will help the air flow straighter and faster in the middle area of the tube. Is that 2x sized foamboard about 1:40 in? I'm watching these big builds to get ideas for my foamboard B-52 the I want to do of similar size. Bigger foam boards would be a great thing for that.PS - What about the LG pods?

    In the flight, if you pause it at 8:34, there is a little bit of tapering to the inlet and outlet. This is a good shot because the sky makes it very easy to see the angles. Not sure if you mean it needs to be more - like a cone shape or just longer tapering.

  • @adger3307

    would it be helpful if i add some stators between props and increase prop pitch gradually to add up speed?

  • @johngoscinski1995

    @johngoscinski1995

    5 жыл бұрын

    I would fill the area between the 4 thin struts with foamboard. That would act like stators and help fair in the struts. I would then look at the amp draw/power capacity of the motors. If there is overhead, I'd add pitch to draw more power up to the capacity of the motors. To put in perspective, they were getting 4 lbs thrust from 2 large thrust pods each with 2 motors. You can get 2 lbs of thrust from a average low-cost 70mm edf, so this much bigger diameter ought to be able to develop a good bit more thrust. It seems to be very inefficient at the moment.

    "dude" I have a firearms license here in Australia and am not allowed an airsoft gun, you sound to be heading down our path with the restrictions wanted to be added to rc planes and drones as we already have here going through your congress, The airsoft side of it will be used as an example in congress to display what "could be" with a real gun. Just saying here in Aus we have to be careful what ammo we give them against us with the restrictions already in place and have seen this game play out here already.

    Muskoka Mike You realize that it’s literally a matter of mounting a servo on a trigger to do that, right? It’s not a secret. People like you should really stop thinking in a protectionist way. You can’t kill ideas.

  • @muskokamike127

    @muskokamike127

    5 жыл бұрын

    Yeah? if it was so simple why isn't everyone doing it? People like you should start thinking instead of commenting about things you know nothing about. Here's some factors that you (as usual) didn't think about: 1) structural integrity: the airframe has to be able to survive the recoil 2) power to weight ratio 3) if the firearm is located at the front of the plane, will the plane continue to fly due to the stall of the recoil of the weapon? (you know, because it's an issue that the Mosquito had to deal with when firing their forward facing cannons. They were so powerful that it would almost stall the aircraft). 4) Aiming: how do you know where the round is going to go? Because rule number 1 with firearms is you NEVER pull the trigger until you are certain you know where that round is going to hit. But then again, like many, common sense is a thing read about in a book and never practiced. "you can't kill ideas" but you sure can prevent people from acting on them. Do you know why the security lineups are so long in airports? Because people had ideas on how to get weapons on board. I bet if you were on one of the planes flown into the WTC you'd be wishing they had those "protectionist" ways the week before.....

    Well... you'd want to be careful with that, since you have just said you essentially want to fly an RC model, over people, and have them shoot at it with paint guns, or otherwise simulate battle damage.

    It sounds awesome but if they shoot back at it it is possible that they hit electronics causing you to crashland on a field filled with people...

    You can also put air balloon on the airplane so the airsofters can shoot it without damage it and obviously the airplane have to come back when all the balloon are destroied (sorry for my bad english ;D )

    Your videos are awesome guys! How can I have those plans for laser? I own a laser very similar to the one in the start of the video but most of the FT plans are to be printed and cutted by hand but it would be awesome if you guys posted or sold pdf plans for laser! When I download the pdf plans there is so much to do with removing all the extra logos and texts you dont want the laser to cut. Thanks!

    lol unless the place crashes bad so they cant fly it they usually do one flight in the video without a camera on it and then later stick a selfie stick and gopros on it to get flight footage

    Amazing design, fantastic build, and exciting maiden! This has been one of my favorite aircraft ever since I got to tour the A-10 production floor as a young AF ROTC cadet. Will definitely need a bit more power... maybe use beefier motors and 3- or 4-bladed props? I look forward to see what follows from this!
