Looking good Sam! Those balancers can be a bear! Never liked the idea of hammering them on. I started brushing on a little moly wheel bearing grease on my pullers & installers - seems to help.

Yes they sell them upto a 1/4" or maybe more. Have to be careful cause it may throw off the pulley alignment. All this is temporary to get the engine started, going to do a serpentine conversion kit.

@@ClassicCarOverhaul yes my next car. Will have a pulley kit. Never done one but seems simple just nuts and bolts

I agree on greasing the installer tool, I usually use some white lithium grease or some black moly whichever I have closest! Especially if your gonna do more then a couple

looking good. you will have to move your timing tab down to the bottom to bolts so you can get timing correct.

  • @ClassicCarOverhaul

Will have to look for another timing tab, can't move this down it will hit the balancer.

@@ClassicCarOverhaul yes if its hitting you need a different timing tab. it should clear by 1/8 inch or less. measure across the harmonic and let me know i may have one for you.

make sure that the balancer markings match your engine's TDC ... those washers on the water pump might offset your poulies alignment...

May have to look for another timing tab. The water pump is only temporary to get the engine started. I will be changing all that with a long water pump and a serpentine conversion.

make sure you install the correct timimg tab, the one you have is too far from the damper. you will have a very hard time when you go to set the timing.

I see that is a tall water pump. Did the car have the factory short water pump and fan shroud? If it did, you might have to get different pulleys because the ones from the short pump won’t line up when the tall one is used. Thanks for the vid. I’ve been watching since you started. I have a’64 myself. I just dropped a Turbo 350 in it.

question for you. I noticed you haven't installed your struts yet. I have a 1961 impala that I have installed a cpp drop spindle on. I was able to put everything back together but I am having a tough time getting the new strut back in. Do you know any tricks? it seems like it should be simple, but the way that half the spring is covered it is impossible to get a hand up there. Is there a video coming?
