This was probably the biggest fight for Canelo, even now. This fight made Canelo learn so much from Floyd. After this fight, Canelo's defensive prowess went through the roof. His offense and immediate reaction with defensive responsibility got so much better too. Without this fight Canelo would not be where he is right now.

I always laugh when people say Floyd Sucks... it's like do you understand the sport of boxing at all??? Every single coach I have ever had since I was a kid worked on defensive boxing skills! Period!!

Floyd was beating World Champions when he was Canelos age. There are simply levels to this.

We had gotten spoiled by Tyson’s ability to put men away quickly. Floyd was a master at the craft of boxing, hitting without getting hit. His ability to make men miss is astonishing.

I'm a big fan of Pacquiao being a Filipino myself and wanted him to beat Floyd so bad especially with all the "ducking" issues prior to their mega fight. That being said, I do think Floyd is just levels above his competition during his time. Superb defense, superb ring IQ, the way he reads his opponents is unmatched. He really has a case of being the best ever. He's 49-0 (yeah and holds the record for beating the most world champions in boxing history.

The most PERFECT example of the Art Of Boxing you'll ever see. Floyd was never going for a KO - I don't think Canelo can be knocked out, tbh - but instead he used every silky trick in the book to out manoeuvre and befuddle Canelo. A masterpiece.

Whenever someone says Floyd ran, just direct them to this video. Those who have never laced up a set, trained, sparred etc, could never appreciate how clean of a boxer Floyd was. Key word “BOXER” Distance management is brilliant, he offsets the timing by changing the tempo and power of his punches, and his defense is master class level. Just the way he stood in the pocket, rolled with the punches while countering with his own is a feat not many can do with such efficiency.

THat's true if you let him stay at distance. The trick with an elusive fighter like FM is to feint and get close and turn it into an inside fight. You also have to be able to fight very "square on" to cut off Floyd's ability to evade both left and right. That's how Roberto Duran would have fought him. This was an early version of Canelo, his ability to feint (and feint well) came later. In this fight he was very much one-two from distance.

Canelos defence now, is mirrored to Floyd's except Canelo still presses forward while feinting with good head movement while floyd backed away and would stick and move feint with head movement. Would be great to see them fight a year ago

Never been a huge Mayweather fan, but I'll give him his credit on this one. He simply outboxed this future champion in every way. Canelo helped him with sloppy defense, but still, he didn't waste any punches and defended himself very well. His movement was great and his jab was absolutely incredible.. lighting quick and right on point. Best fight I've seen from him.

Canelo wasn’t a future Champion, he was the defending world champion with two belts. He had been a world champ for 3 years at this point. That’s why I don’t know why people say he was a baby. Canelo had beaten four world champions at this point.

Recently joined a MMA gym, and now I appreciate Mayweather's fighting style even more. He keeps a low guard for fast and powerful jabs and relies more on dodging, which is incredibly experienced. Moves like lightning. His cardio routine must be insane!

Who's here in 2023 after the Tank vs. Garcia fight?! Floyd is a Master. What an amazing opportunity it would be to have him in your corner! Especially since Tank is a lefty. He's got the whole grace to move as good as floyd but backwards. Helluva an opportunity for Floyd to teach! That's why Tank is so sharp. I hope he has a beautiful lifelong career against his opposition. And have fun doing so! Tank vs. Garcia was a beautiful fight for me. Loved Garcia's Warrior intent. He does have the it factor. When you watch this fight back and not listen to the announcers, you really see Floyd landing clean and Canelo missing or hitting arms and shoulders a lot. The older I get the more I appreciate the skills that Floyd had.

I have studied this fight numerous times, and Mayweather truly is an A+ level fighter and truly understands “The Art of Boxing.” So much to learn from this fight

Oscar had more experience as a pro but Floyd beat him. Not to mention it was Canelo and his team who pushed for the Floyd fight… not Floyd.
