    Except Bivol was able to use his size and movement/speed to control the range on smaller Canelo while also choosing moments to mix it up and impose his physicality. On the other hand GGG was never able to neutralize Canelo. Matter of fact, GGG's change in tactic from the first fight only made him more vulnerable, because in this fight , because in this fight when Canelo called GGG's Mexican style bluff by coming out aggressive, GGG suddenly had second thoughts and decided to retreat while mostly jabbing instead of committing to his power like usual which only gave Canelo less to worry about as he closed in and hammered GGG's head and body with power shots. GGG wasn't even committing to his jabs the way he normally and ended up absorbing tremendous damage. Afterward GGG refused to claim Mexican style again and even changed trainers to try to change up his style. As for Bivol, he was a difficult style combined with the next level leap in weight and Canelo was supposedly dealing with injury which hampered his training. He was actually competitive in the early rounds until he started gassing. Side note: another Eastern European Kovalev also tried to fight with that jab heavy style but also lost.

  • @Av-fn5wx

    @Av-fn5wx

    3 ай бұрын

    @californio1850 that's a very long text. Will respond to the last paragraph now. Kovalev was washed up by the time he fought Canelo. Knocked out 2 times. Almost got knocked out by Yarde. And he was back in the ring within 55 days at the age of 38 after a war with Yarde. So combining Bivol fight and Kovalev fight in the same sentence is a disservice to the legendary Kovalev. Prime Kovalev wouldve KOd Canelo. And Bivol fight was never competitive. Canelo was throwing useless punches to the shoulders which makes me think he didn't have any serious injury. Someone with a serious hand Injury wouldn't throw rash shots to shoulder and risk further Injury. It's simple to analyze Canelo fights, if he can't hurt someone and that person has footwork, Canelo is done. He has no new tricks for such an experienced campaigner. He record off late has been padded on British fighters and 3 GGG fights (2 of which ate competitive and first was very close and many thought GGG won). So yeah Canelo is a bit hyped. At one point. He wanted to face Beterbiev and Usyk. Lol . He will get bloodied by Beterbiev

  • @moisesvirgen7711

    @@californio1850Canelo struggled with Both Kovalev and Bivol ( which he obviously lost ) was LITERALLY DUE TO being a much less fluid fighter at 175.. Bivol has been in there with big hitters, Canelo has power but it’s the years of moving up in weight that took a toll on his fluid movement like at 160. Bivols about to face beterbiev and we all gonna see the difference between fighting a guy like Canelo at 175 and fighting a full fledged beterbiev who’s literally the monster at 175. Bivol took advantage of Canelo being at his 4th weight class and basically kept it simple to “outbox” but it was really due to Canelos tank and Bivols reach. Bivol is losing to Canelo any day of the week at 160 if they were the same size, same way how GGG never really managed to exploit Canelo. Canelo at 160 was his true prime and he would’ve beat a lot of dudes at the time but they wanted no smoke. GGG and Canelo were the two boogeyman’s at 160, no one was beating any of them especially the Charles and Andrade, they would’ve got KO these two guys are the two kings of MW of the late 2010s

    One of boxing greatest bouts ever. The Golden Boy vs The Silver Olympian You’re watching two boxers who took very separate routes to being the middle weight champs. Almost Half of Canelos life at this point was being a pro boxer and GGG was one of the greatest decorated amateur boxers ever. The main thing they had in common was steel chins & bombs in both hands. I personally give this match to GGG because of the consistent piston jab and his ability to wobble Canelo late despite being the older fighter. But Canelo did what seemed impossible at the time.. stalk GGG for the majority of the fight and walk through all of his artillery to land his own.

    Do you think Canelo took more damage in this fight or against Bivol? I feel like he actually got stunned at least a couple times, and took a lot of shots since he stayed in mid and close range more. Bivol definitely outclassed Canelo, but Bivol also had lower output and didn't seem to sit on his punches.

  • @Metali-tin

    @Metali-tin

    12 күн бұрын

    I disagree, I had the first fight a draw based on the first 3 and last 3 rounds being Canelo rounds, he didn't win them wide but he won them. GGG in first fight was walking him down and showing good punch resistance willing to take some to give some but if you value good defence, you'll see why people thought Canelo edged those rounds people gave him. I personally couldn't give Canelo more than a draw and if anyone edged it, it was GGG IMO. Simply because Canelo seemed to take his foot off the gas, in the middle portion of the fight were GGG looked as dominant as any of them had looked in the first 2 fights but none of those were 10-8 rounds and previous rounds shouldn't affect your scoring in later rounds. There was also a judge who scored it a draw and some people did give Canelo round 9 for the punch of the fight(had to hurt you could see it after the fight big time) so I can see a scenario where all 3 cards add up to a draw overall(a draw was no robbery). The 2nd fight, I thought a draw would have been fairer too, even though if anyone edged it, it was Canelo, it was still close. That would have restored some of the good will from the first fight, given the weight cutting drug findings and the ridiculous Byrd card(not seen anything remotely like that since he left Goldenboy hmmm?)

  • @Metali-tin

    @Metali-tin

    12 күн бұрын

    Back to the second fight though, I thought BOTH fighters took on board what cost them points with certain judges. Canelo showed he probably fought the wrong fight in the first fight even if he did just about enough edge enough rounds to earn a draw. He came in lighter, had obviously worked on his cardio(did he expect GGG to fade in the first fight?), so didn't take the middle rounds off. He also made sure he was the fighter on the front foot(the most repeated phrase for people who scored it for GGG wide), he controlled the centre of the ring for most of the fight. At the same time GGG showed he can fight on the back foot, although he was never going to be a fighter with elite head movement GGG showed way better defence(parrying and positioning of the guard when done right can offset a lack of head movement) than I think I've ever seen from him. I think the second fight you saw what sets the two apart when things get really close, besides the obvious difference in styles(GGG the pressure fighter with great punch power and volume, Canelo the aggressive counter puncher who relies as much on his defence as his punch power if you deep it). GGG relied on fast sharp jabs and straight shots in bunches, where Canelo was almost always looking for power punches, hooks to head or body(he's not fussed and I think people ignored a lot of the body shots he got in when it was frantic) no matter how the fight was going, which takes guts. In scoring, power punches should and always have carried a greater weighting. But as I said, I still scored it a draw because round by round that's how I had it. No carrying stuff from the other fight, or previous rounds, I simply had both fights a draw. Neither of them had enough to stop the other guy or even came close to it, they were very evenly matched over all. Even when Canelo was gassed/resting in the first fight, he looked eerily comfortable back to the ropes, lets his hands down to show it while slipping and riding shots, who else has ever done that against GGG?

    Lol that's what people said going into the first fight. Matter of fact, GGG was still the favorite in this second fight in which Canelo beat GGG at his own game. And if anyone had the demonstrable advantage going into the first fight it was GGG himself who was the hyped up undefeated favorite and a late bloomer with not many total fights or many tough fights period. He was also the career middleweight with a fully matured style as opposed to Canelo was fighting above 155 for only the second time in his career and was a more limited version of himself as a more stationary backfoot counter puncher. For the second fight GGG completely changed up his style and beat GGG at his own game and by his own standards.

"only 6 min move ur waist dont risk it my son" "dont risk trading punches " "dont try u cant knock him out he's too strong." believe me Canelo is a top fighter maybe in top 10 ever but he had no chance with prime GGG he will crash him like a pepsi can after few rounds. GGG reminded me George Foreman in HW no one want them in the ring even retired still so dangerous and above all impossible to KO them. with age they can no longer practice their intensive pressing its natural (age is not only a number) and that situation give others the chance to breathe,counterattack collect some points and running almost 12rounds .

    @@entertainmentworld4224 Yeah, GGG fans had been saying he'd destroy Canelo since the first fight but that never happened. The claim that he was an old man up against it is nothing but revisionism when he went in as the heavily hyped up favorite. And fact is, GGG was a late bloomer who at 29 was still a raw fighter getting dragged into a sloppy war vs smaller gatekeeper Ouma in which GGG was missing wildly while getting tagged flush. That version of GGG would have gotten lit up by Canelo. GGG polished his style after 30 when he teamed with Abel and didn't even face his first reigning champ until 33 vs Lemieux who was closer to a gatekeeper with power rather than elite. Like I said, the only one with the demonstrable advantage going in was the favorite GGG who was fully in his comfort zone as a career middleweight with the matured style and few tough or total fights as a pro. As a opposed to Canelo who was fundamentally different stylistically with limited experience above 155. Side note: it's convenient how GGG fans say they wish the fight happened according to whatever their notion of GGG's peak, but if the first fight happened according to Canelo's peak, it would have been several years later down the line when Canelo was more comfortable on the frontfoot. It's also convenient how GGG revisionist fans claim after the fact that he got old the exact second he stepped in the ring with someone with a wrinkle in their game lol. It's easy to impress when you're strictly fighting 2nd and 3rd tier fighters there to be knocked out but there are levels in boxing and GGG hadn't been facing the elite. Funny how GGG looked just as devastating as ever the minute he stepped down his opposition after Canelo 1, when he scored a devastating KO over gatekeeper Martirosyan. Like I said, there are level. Meanwhile the 3rd fight was stylistically fundamentally different with Canelo changing up his style and fighting on the frontfoot. GGG after all his Mexican style talk, suddenly abandoned his team's plan and tried to back up and jab his way out of the fight he called for only to end up catching more damage with Canelo having less to worry about as he closed in with power to GGG's body and head. Funny you bring up the in the corner comments when that only highlights the difference in their approach, because GGG's trainer seemed confused by GGG abandoning their gampeplan and was telling him he was losing and needed to do more whereas Canelo's corner let him know he was doing well and not to get overeager chasing the KO. That's the interesting thing, even though GGG was the next level hyped puncher, when the two shared the experience of being in the ring for 12 rounds in the first fight, it was GGG who seemed to have that seed of doubt planted in his head after because Canelo was the first guy he ever faced who could take his best shots while responding with big shots of his own. On the other hand, Canelo was emboldened by realizing he could take GGG's biggest shots and even full blown stand and trade in the later rounds. Afterward he said that although GGG hit hard it wasn't anything he couldn't handle and felt he had hurt GGG a few times, and promised he'd bring the fight straight to GGG for the second and try to score the KO. Most people didn't take his comments seriously because pressing on GGG was considered to be a suicide mission at the time, but Canelo did just that. He didn't get the KO but he did turn the tables and beat GGG at his own game. Ironically, it was team GGG who constantly thumped their chests in the leadup to the second fight about epitomizing Mexican style while questioning if Canelo had the heart to fight in that style. But it was GGG who refused to ever claim Mexican style again after all the damage he caught. Afterward GGG went back to his comfort zone fighting lower tier fighters whereas Canelo moved up and lined up champs.
