Once again, those escaping bringing their belongings with them is something that needs to be dealt with as it is endangering lives whilst these buffoons delay to grab and save their precious possessions. Have people not realised yet that the most precious possession is YOUR LIFE.. Stuff the purse or carry-on bag containing your work folder, laptop or passport, ALL can be replaced and/or covered by insurance, plus, anyone with a titter of wit will understand where you lost the item and preferred to save yourself..

One must also appreciate the structural integrity of the MD-80 that there was no other serious damage that could have prevented safe evacuation of all the passengers. Those Mad Dogs were really well built planes. In some cases back in the erstwhile Northwest Airlines of the US, some of their DC-9s (earlier versions of MD-80) were older than the pilots flying them !

Flew as a passenger on MD80's many times back in the day and they always had a tendency to land fast and hard.

Terrific airplanes they were, in my opinion, had one of the steepest initial climb profiles especially when lightly loaded. Also really robust birds.

Not really, as long as it hasn't exceed the limit of Flight hours and cycles. Any well maintained aircraft can last more than 50yrs+

Yeah, maintenance and projected life is all that matters. You can replace so many entire systems to where the plane's age cannot really even be determined.

First of all, Florida is not a city (unless you're talking about Florida City which is nowhere near Miami. I lived in Miami my entire life. It's okay if you like broiling all year and very expensive to live. If you're not rich and don't own a watercraft, there is a lot you are missing in Miami, lots of crime, lots of friction between nationalities (Hispanics are very proud of their origin and very confrontational toward Hispanics of other origins). The night life is great thought.

Living there for decades and now as a old man running away to north Florida. I'd known group up there was like living in a dog farm. I don't kidding. From cocaine cowboys in the 70s ,the Miami river case in the 80s , very good music and discotheques at those years ,racing speed boat from Miami to Bahamas.. Oh , remember Miami vice tv series ? Not more space for old people in Miami. Miss Coral Gables high school and Coconut Grove too. But not matter what ; Miami is a beautiful place.

There are different levels of 'heightened sense of danger'. We are watching this from the comfort of a computer or mobile device. In emergencies, people will do strange things like grip a 3-ring binder to their chest for no reason until danger is over. The brain goes into a "okay, no time to do a rational 'before you get out' checklist so lets do a 3 second 'grab grab grab' list and go!" mode.

generally the blame of the crash is immidiately put on pilots, and many-a-times its never their fault. Do you really think a pilot who has to go through several years of training worth crores of money is going to make a absurdly bad landing?

We must look out for alternatives. Travel by sea and land if possible. Or just take a virtual tour on KZread / Instagram

Today everything is caught on camera. Even when u poop on road side due to lack of latrines that too is caught on camera
