I was a dispatcher for fine Air when this happened. The cargo pallets were not properly secured and they rolled back on to an empty position. This moved the center of gravity outside the envelope and the airplane stalled. The loss of airspeed and attitude caused the outboard engines to stall as well. The crew did not have neither power nor altitude to recover.

As a retired MD-11 pilot, I continue to learn a great deal by watching these videos. The more one knows, you are better equipped to recognize potential mistakes and mishaps that can lead to disaster. Rarely is there a single, solitary cause in an aviation accident event. Usually, it is a series of smaller avoidable events that add up quickly, like dominoes. Once the pieces are set up, all it takes is for one misstep to put the entire scenario in motion.

The First Officer in this crash was a nice young man by the name Steven Petrosky. We attended Florida Institute of Technology at the same time. I remember going on an observation flight with him. He may have done the same with me, but I'm not sure. He wasn't just a good guy. He was a very dedicated pilot, student and, later, Flight Instructor. He and I both wanted to be pilots from an early age. In 1998 I was hired by a major airline. I'm a 51 year old Captain now. Steve would be 50, I believe. It saddens me to think of this. These touchy awful scenes only breaks our heart again and again. Exciting to watch, but think it deeply, how many cries are involved with it.
Why do I always watch these airplane crashes videos before my flights?! Then my anxiety messes up while I’m on the plane thinking about these videos 😩
About 20 years ago a small (6 passenger) private rental aircraft took off from near here, and it was taking a business man and associates about 100 miles north of here, he had an 80-100 lb safe he took on board with him. According to witnesses... shortly after the aircraft took off it started to struggle to gain altitude and suddenly it seemed to almost fall backwards out of the sky. The investigation found that the safe had not been secured behind the rear most seat, and as the plane started climbing the safe slid all the way back into the rear part of the fuselage and basically pulled the small aircraft out of the sky. The sheriff's deputy that ended up going to the scene said there was as almost zero discernable human remains, which included 1 pilot, and 3 passengers if I remember correctly.
Poor guy in the parking lot was getting out of his car with lunch he was bringing to his wife working in a store in that group of businesses. He had no time to react and the fireball consumed him😢

Cargo crashes are some of the most dangerous accidents ever,.....especially the in-flight fire events. Their is practically no chance of surviving an in-flight fire.
That was awful. I remember seeing the smoke...a good friend witnessed it from the airport. The owner of that cargo company worked out at my gym at the time. I’m not sure he ever recovered emotionally
Wow! I remember this when I was a kid. I was in the car with my parents and we were on 8th street and SW 107th ave next to FIU. We could see the black smoke from all the way there.
I still have nightmares about airplane crashes. I'll never fly because of that. These videos are very scary. R.I.P to the people that died.
Take off, landing and turbulence is the scariest part of flying
Not exactly what happened. Airplane took off and cargo shifted backwards shifting the center of gravity and putting the airplane into a stall (nose very high) the crew did actually bring the nose of the airplane back down but they were already in a stall... (airplane loses lift in a stall) the airplane just came down as a brick, not sliding down the street like you see in the video.

one person died on ground
“TOO LOW TERRAIN”
*The flight controller is alarmed by what he now sees* *Flight Controller : Sees really bad CGI*
It’s sad when you don’t see someone from the flight being interviewed
I spent 23 years in South Florida and I don’t remember this. I hope some passengers made it out alive.

lol i live in teterboro new jersey and our local walmart is right next to the teterboro airport aha
I have flown quite a lot in my time, starting in 1959 aged 8 when my family all went to Spain in a Constellation plans, which seemed to take hours and hours. Thankfully we have moved on since then. I enjoyed Flying over the years but now I have decided I will never get on another plane, it's so frightening what can happen, and poof hundreds of people die. I don't have a sensible logical reason, just know I don't like it, and if there is one good thing when getting older, you do not have to do anything you don't want to. Having said that I have a weird interest in the Planes Channels, and the terrible stuff that happens, all the while hoping that there are no more crashes and loss of life xx

If they had MCAS they could have gone another mile or so before crashing.

These videos are always very well made. But why are they so short?
One of the good videos
"V1, rotate" *captain pushes the nose vertically up* *plane stalls* *BOOOM*
Where's the full episode?
I freaking love watching these investigations!
Is there is any safety bag system? Similar to car? I have been using air bus since 2008, woring in oil gas field, 21/21 rotation job, this is my question to all is there ia any safety system?
Fun fact I’m actually in Miami now and I can see the airport 😬
This narrator is the GOAT, what a voice
I remember covering this plane crash in Miami.
