Bit of "Background" info on Fleetwood (From a Guy whos lived here all his life & now "Works" as a Volunteer at Fleetwood Museum) ..... A. The North Euston Hotel is so named because it was at the Other end (NORTH END) of the Train Line from LONDON Euston (to get to Scotland The Railway only ran as far as Fleetwood in the 1840's You got off the Train & Boarded a Boat to take you to Ardrossan ) Because in 1840 They hadnt invented a Steam Engine "Strong enough" to pull a Train over Shap Summit up in Cumbria......B. The Lower Lighthouse is designed based upon the Great lighthouse of Alexandria (One of the 7 Wonders of the Ancient World) C. The Pharos Lighthouse & the Lower Lighthouse one being taller than the other (Obviously) if you line the two lights up (One above the Other) you are in the centre of the main Channel entering Fleetwood Port .D. The Third Lighthouse (The Wyre Light") sits at the end of the Channel & was the VERY FIRST "Screw-Pile Lighthouse" in the world to be Illuminated. We (Fleetwood People) have tried for Many Many Years to gain the rights to this "Light" but nobody knows who ownes it & therefore we cannot get "Listed Status or any Grants to SAVE IT ..Storms in 2019 did it serious damage & it is now rapidly disappearing into the Sand Bank in stands on !!!

@@GimbalWalkTV Oh We've Tried & tried to work out WHO "Owns" it .Wyre Council = NO ....Lancs / Yorks Railway =NO... Trinity House = NO ... Belfast Steamship Co = NO ... Trouble is WHOEVER Says "YES WE OWN IT" is opening themselves up to (Possibly) MASSIVE INS Claims IF a Ship hits it (Its now Classed by ABP (Ass British Ports) as "A DANGER TO SHIPPING" ..... We have a "Friendly Rivalry" Between Maplin Sands & ourselves ....(Maplin Sands has an Identical Light) Technically Maplin was Built FIRST but Due to a mishap with the Lighting up of Maplin Sands The Wyre Light WAS THE FIRST LIT SCREWPILE LIGHTHOUSE IN THE WORLD ... (& Now its a pile of Scrap at the Mouth of the River Wyre Channel .. SAD .. VERY VERY SAD !!

We did exactly the same walk four days ago. Fleetwood really is a beautiful place on so many levels. Viva Fleetwood!!!

I'm almost tempted to move back... wasn't like this when I left in the late 70's. Still, it was always a better place to live than Liverpool.

It is so sad to have seen the decline of Fleetwood. I was born in the late 40's and enjoyed the life in Fleetwood then. Such a busy and extra friendly place. It is still a lovely place with the best sea views on the Fylde coast, thank you for this video I cant get out now and miss my daily walks on the sea front with my dog.

"It looks a nice place for an evening stroll and to watch the sun go down." About 1977 I witnessed a 'green flash' on Fleetwood Rossall Beach (before I even knew about such things... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Green_flash) for the only time in my life. I'll never forget it.

Ive done that walk so many times. It was great to see again as i now live in Australia. It reminded me of home so much. Every place along the way reminded me of some one or something

i live in Fleetwood and honestly wouldnt live anywhere else. we actually had 3 lighthouses. we had Wyre Light which i seem to think was the first of its kind in the waybit was fastened to the sea bed. it was burnt down many years ago and is quickly rotting away unfortunately as its part of our towns history. sunset is one of the nicest parts of the day on our lovely seafront. the colours and the calm is beautiful.x

Lovely Sunset stroll in Fleetwood & lots of interesting information about Fleetwood Neil. I went to Fleetwood years ago with some friends, we only went to the shops that were there then on the pier. And we went to Fleetwood Market which I remember was quite a good Market. But I've never seen this area that you walked Neil. I didn't know about the 3 Lighthouses & the traditional vintage Tram Shelter was lovely to see! Lovely to see Fleetwood in a different light! I know how the lad managed to get up on that roof top!😂it was quite a drop! I love that big round Hotel too I bet that's got some history the architecture was lovely 🤩

Just watched your Fleetwood video, really enjoyed it, when you are coming in from the sea and you get the light from the 2 lighthouses in line you are right for the channel in to Fleetwood.

This takes me back a good few years and brings back happy memories. Thank you for a lovely video. I would recommend a trip to Glasson Dock along Morcambe Bay.

Wouldn’t it be lovely to wake up to those views? I’ve only been there once but it was to the shopping outlet about 16 years ago. You could mash ur vids up, film those sunny days that u always seem to find,then end it with a sunset walk. It’s lovely to see the colours and clouds out at sea. 😀

My wife and I were in Fleetwood for the first time early August this year we came through on the tram from Blackpool....When we got off the tram we turned right should have gone left we ended up at Asda ... great video...

well I'm 53 in a few days. last time i was in Fleetwood i was 13 with my bossy sisters we always stayed north end of Blackpool and without fail went to Fleetwood at least once only bit i kind of recognise is the tower lighthouse great video i loved it.

I had a friend who wanted to live in Fleetwood! She changed her mind but always hankered after the place.!

Lovely video everything is so beautiful It took me back down the memory lane. when we used to stay in Fleetwood .we had a good time at the ferry cafe.this video brought a smile on my face thank you for making this video.☺️

Model boat lake to the south and the other , the one with an island in it, used to be a boating lake with rowing boats for hire years ago, that was when Fleetwood was a thriving resort

Lovely prom goes as far as clevellys great for bikes , wheelchairs etc , Believe Fred Little from Little & Large has pub there ,we enjoy going there looking round market and just up road is a nice cafe Pablos does good home food with fresh veg very popular if still there. Some great buildings , I hope they keep that old tram stop, it’s great to hear the trams rattling in .

Lovely video. I’ve not been to Fleetwood as I didn’t think there was much there but I think I must visit and stay in a hotel there as it looks peaceful and spacious on your video tour.

Ah nice!!

Fleetwood has a great promenade to explore, a side of the town a lot of visitors don't see....that is a nice walk you've captured and if your feeling energetic walk further the opposite way towards Cleveleys or even Blackpool or bike it. At 21:55 that was the site of the pier that burned down sadly. Fleetwood is a great place yes it has a down sides like every other town but when you consider the town's livelihood of fishing decimated losing jobs at sea and on the shore, the docks declining, P&O Ferries pulling out and the high street decaying with little regeneration it's a cracking little town. Worth noting a lot of the enhancements on your walk such as new paving, statues, gardens etc were paid for with donations from the Lofthouse family who own Fishermen's Friends lozenge they also paid for the EROS statue and roundabout enhancements on the roundabout as you drive into Fleetwood. It would be great to see the town revived again as a maritime port / tourist place. Cheers

Another great vlog. Loving the music as always. You are very lucky if you are able to travel out of three UK. We are still locked in our own State. When the world travel is back to normal I would highly recommend Singapore for a walk. It is the most amazing city just to wonder about.....day but especially at night. Keep walking.

This is a part I have not seen looks very beautiful in the sunset. Some very lovely property is that a golf course .? Lovely big hotels.... Well this a lovely surprise for me been to the town many times but not seen this part very nice 👍 Aaaanow i’ know. where I am but its changed since I was there last quite amazing ..Really really enjoyed that . It's a "Pitch n Putt" course, so not really a full golf course as such. Mainly just used by family's. However, Fleetwood also has a proper golf course if you travel much further in the other direction along the promenade!

I have just subscribed to your channel. We always stayed in Bispham for our holidays and loved Fleetwood . The statue is Sir Peter Hesketh who founded Fleetwood. Keep up the good work

Morecombe Bay is nice but never been to Fleetwood you can get the tram there from Blackpool Looks nice place to relax and chill out, Thinking of moving to Blackpool one day.

My late wife and I loved Fleetwood and we had our honeymoon in a caravan at Cala Gran holiday park . It rained most of the week but it was a great place. We used to love the market. Thanks for the lovely memories. Have you ever done a walk in Ilfracombe?

There used to be an open air swimming pool where we would go with the school. I remember doing the crawl for my intermediate certificate and every time I turned my face to breathe I got battered by hail stones !

The museum is great and staffed by hard working volunteers

Go to munic in Germany its fantastic you will love it I did
