CHARLESTOWN | Full tour of Charlestown Cornwall UK from the shipwreck museum and port / harbour to the Charlestown Cornwall Beach and seafront!

Come with us as we explore the amazing georgian port town of Charlestown Cornwall England. This stunning port with it's amazing harbour area, and traditional rocky beach with it's rock pools and caves is an absolute dream. We take the Gimbal Walk TV cameras for a walk around to see what life is like in Charlestown Cornwall, filming a gentle walk to show you around the whole place.
The first thing to mention when visiting here is that it can get very busy in Charlestown Cornwall, and you will soon find it to be a lovely, friendly and pleasant tourist destination but be ready for the crowds!
Whilst there is a car park here in the official Charlestown carpark on Charlestown Road but that fills up quite quickly so you may find yourself parking a little further uphill just outside the main town and walking down into it (and back out again at the end of your visit!)
Starting this walk we begin on Charlestown Road walking downhill and soon come to the Grade II Listed Charlestown Chapel situated just next to the Rashleigh Arms Pub. Next up on the right hand side of the road is The Boat House Bar and Restaurant which is winning rave reviews from tourists and visitors to the town.
Next up we reach the car park and opposite the main drop off point for the coach trips that bring tourists and holidaymakers coming for day trips, breaks and holidays. Here you will find the best Cornish Ice Creams you have ever tasted!
After this we continue along and come to the Charlestown Cornwall Shipwreck Treasure Museum that features artefacts and remnants from numerous shipwrecks along the Cornwall coast - definitely recommended as something to see when in the town here.
Then we come to the main feature of this Gimbal Walk TV walking tour - Charlestown Harbour and Charlestown Beach. The harbour and port area is simply fantastic and whilst it's like stepping back in time you can also eat and drink here and the food is simply fantastic (try Smokin Harbour Q - it's amazing!)
Charlestown Harbour is fascinating and there are little plaques on the wall you can read to discover the history of the place including it's time as a port that shipped tin and china clay on the trading ships that used to dock here.
For those on a holiday in Cornwall I would say that a trip to Charlestown Cornwall is simply a must. There is so much to see and do and experience here and a walk along Charlestown Beach on a sunny day is fantastic, feeling the sea breeze on your face, smelling the fresh sea air and stepping over the rock pools when the tide is out!
Many films and TV shows have filmed here from Poldark to Alice in Wonderland and even Doctor Who so when you are here you are stepping where famous actors have stepped before you and can find yourself right slap back ini the middle of famous TV and Movie film locations including some very memorable Poldark Filming Locations!

1981 I went to work and indeed live in Charlestown. It is looking well cared for. When the Rashley family had custody there were many empty houses and there was no way on earth they would let anyone live in or help preserve. So I moved about to other towns. Eventually the far end of St Austell Above the beach and into the next cove was a PUB that never seemed to close. David & Lily.

It’s looking much better than when we last visited. The illness took its toll I suppose. We had to pay to enter the dock and it was very expensive. There weren’t little cafes etc- in fact, not much to see down there. Much better now!

Yes, your shoes are holding up quite well! I enjoy listening to see what noises come out of the different surfaces you walk on. lol I know, I'm odd. It gives me a "real" feel of being there too! My favourite part has gotta be when you are down by the sea walking on the pebbles to the caves. I love walking on the different formations of rocks, and discovering what the rock pools have living in them. The caves were real interesting also! Of course too, when you were walking with the pastel colored cottages on the left and the port on the right leading down to the sea. Again with those dark heavy clouds threatening above the sea. Thanks once more for an enjoyable adventure! :)

My parents and I went there in 1997 to a nearby holiday camp (I don't know if it is still running). I don't remember the street. I only remember the harbour because my dad was born in one of the houses overlooking the harbour. I think I remember him telling me it was the end yellow house. I am not 100% sure.
