In 2007, I was interviewing with a major tech company for my first job out of college. This is the song I blasted while riding up to their campus. I screwed up the first interview but aced the second. Thank you everyone involved in the making of this magnificent interview film and thank you unnamed 3 letter big tech company. I was a young adualt destined for low income but this song and that interview changed my life for the better.

Might be a dick move of Jerry Bruckheimer not to include her (perhaps on purpose), but the steelworkes also got no billing. So what had Beals to to with this? She never took credit for dancing. BTW: The last part of the scene (breakdancing) isn´t even Jahan. I´ts Richard "crazy legs" Colón with a wig. None of the hired dancers was able to pull it off. He only got billing cause he was part of a scene with his rock steady crew.

JettBlackheart83 I did it and with time you realize that it was good at the time, but that passion does not give you everything you want, especially a well-remunerated activity and professional stability. For the same reason, you start looking for and creating other ways to develop yourself in life, because what was your passion or what is, does not give you everything you need as a person. You do not have to be so idealistic, you have to know how to prevent. Especially the young people who do not believe that it can happen to them that finally they can not develop so much in what they want to do. You have to be more objective and realistic. This movie inspired the teenagers of the decade of the eighties, but did not tell us about the realities of life. Beware of Hollywood fantasies.

This iconic scene inspired a whole generation of young artists. One of the best soundtracks from the 80s, and a lot of good dancing, although the plot and the actors were not that good. Still lovely to see this again. It had a certain quality in itself, because NOBODY that saw this film in 1983 ever forgot it! No matter if they liked it or not. Other movies that had the same effect was Breakfast Club, Footloose etc. All sitting on my shelves as classic vinyl albums. Miss the 80s, and especially the early part of the decade....

The 80s had some good movies, good music, good times and I remember this store called Erols and then it became like Blockbuster and Tower Records, Sam Goody, the malls were cooler and everyone had jobs, and they had the best movies by John Hughes which are now instinct classics and Michael Jacksons's Thriller in 1982 was the #1 Album to buy and everyone wanted to be like Madonna when she had her Like A Virgin Tour, and Madonna was wayy better than Lady Ga Ga who is trying to be LIKE Madonna, The weather wasn't crazy, the schools didn't have police officers patroling the schools, kids were bullyed but nothing major and texting was passing little notes around in some classes and the Female Teachers didn't look like Models they were ACTUALLY teachers, The kids would sing and dance and everything was personal and not out in the open like Cell Phones, Texting, Selfies, Cameras watching your every move and schools didn't have graveyards and we didn't have any major shootings, and we had video arcades, and Wargamers and board games like Dungeouns and Dragons, which was like Warcraft for us back in the day, Birthday parties was going to your friends house and singing and dancing on MTV when MTV was MTV, birthday cake and small gifts unlike today its MY SUPER SWEET 16 I want a BMW, Media Room, A new Closet of Clothes with the latest styles, and I can tell my parents to fuck off whenever I need too, and I am super cool with all my friends who are actually POSERS, LOSERS, LEACHES, WANNABES and these are the girls in High School I am talking about Cheerleaders were ACTUALLY Cheerleader in High School with Sweaters, Leg warmers, and Pomp Pomps and now Cheerleaders act like Sexy Kittens Parents back in the 1980s had jobs, and they let their younger kids go outside and play and be with their friends and when Halloween came around, All The kids went trick o Treating WITHOUT Their parents, and Parents can take their TV away, and Stereo if kids or teenagers mis behaved and now ... The dodgy wigs are the clue, and, utterly different bodies. Gotta lol at all the boys lusting at men in leotards back in the days when VHS hid the joins, tho.
😢😢😢RIP❤Irene Cara❤as a dancer this was such an inspirational movie❤ Irene was such a gifted singer. Gone too soon😢
RIP Irene. Phenomenal talent

Yes, it is hard to believe. I'm about the same age as Jennifer Beals and so she was a role model for me when this movie came out. Women my age were all about the Flashdance look in those days!

When I became a teenager I watched the movie again and loved it even more I love it just as much today as I did when I first watched. And my mom could never get tired of watching this she loved it . What a Song.......the Pre 2000 music belongs to a different league altogether when compared to the Shit they make these days. Lockdown and enjoying these Classics in India.
I remember when i first saw this.. I felt such an incredible exhilaration as if I were the one doing the final dance number...years later this scene still moves me...a triumphant moment for a young woman brimming with talent. Fantastic movie
🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷👍🏾👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 Flash Dance.

I watched this at the cinema when I was 12 years old, and I remember crying in awe and amazement. 40 years later my reaction is the same.
A classic song that will never fade over time. This song is very special to me as my late sister won second place in a dance contest in the mid 80's with this very song. Such beautiful memories.

Cada vez que vuelvo a verla lloro. Recuerdo haber visto la peli y como queria sentir asi la musica y bailar. Tenia tantos sueños a esa edad. Igual estoy orgullosa de ser quien soy hoy. Pero es lindo recordar a esa niña. Me da algo de nostalgia.
This is one of my favorite movie scenes of all times.. when I first saw this I was almost totally disabled it was hard to walk across the parking lot .. and people were so very cruel . I was severely overweight and suffering in my being..it hurt so bad.. I looked at the seen and saw what I wished I could do.. later I heard that it took three or four separate people to make this movie scene .. the dance part.. and I don't know myself if that's true but.. how this is put together.. the idea.. the acting.. the moves.. dancing and otherwise.. of course the music.. it just all really Blends together to make one of those pivotal movie scenes that surpasses so many movies.. it somehow as an instrument helped me.. I don't know if it was before or after the movie scene but I prayed to THE LORD for healing.. . I felt like there were certain things to do.. and when I would listen I slowly but surely saw and felt changes in my life.. within a year or two I could work 4 to 5 miles health walking.. I could run ..go up and down stairs and do things I couldn't do as a child.you see..I even had physical limitations as a child.... One day I was out somewhere having some tea and a woman came up to me and said ..you have the legs of a dancer..!!! Now many years have passed.. too many hard hard things have happened that have really wounded me.. and I'm not exactly where I used to be but kind of close.. I'm having to start all over again.. it was hard to walk across the parking lot.. I've started Health walking.. I'm up to a mile at a time.. so far I've done four separate miles.. and three separate sets of exercise.. I have heard that there is muscle memory and I sure hope it's true.. I think it is.. so this morning I looked at the video again!.. THX so very much for posting it..

@@sirbuffalo thx. So much for that.. it is certainly very kind of you.. you're reply shows that you have a good soul.. I just finished another workout a few hours ago and I honestly felt like I could run a little bit but I didn't I didn't want to overdo it!.. I'm feeling so much better physically and really I have some goals ahead.. I think I'll make it...today I was honestly considering to make some sort of a KZread video if I could from time to time mapping my results and how I'm getting there and probably to share with others who are going through similar things.. I don't know but maybe.. it might be helpful.. THX !

A pro dancer named Marine Jahan did 90 per cent of the scene above,a gymnast did the flip into the break dance, and a man actually did the spin on the floor. All Jennifer Beals did was start the record,at the begining.

Hi ! It's all very sad, such a dear and good singer left us, much too soon! I was 19 years old when I saw the film in the cinema, it shaped my time, it was the time when I got my driver's license, it was on the radio when I had my first driving lesson, I couldn't get up because of the beautiful song concentrate on driving, which made my driving instructor angry! :-)) All in all a very nice time, thank you Irene Cara for making us happy in the 80's with your songs. One of the best singers of the 80's has left us, Irene, you will always be in in our hearts and your music will continue to accompany us through life. Rest in peace dear Irene, your music was great, is great, and will always be great. Your music fills the hearts of many people. Thank you for everything dear Irene Cara!
