Unique patters is something I stumbled on by accident a few years ago and it's an absolute lifeline when it comes to developing themes with little variations in expression or phrasing. Alt + G is another one someone told me about a year or so ago, and, 'cause I'm the kind of musician who mixes a lot of plugins with a lot of audio from external gear and real instruments -- and if that's not bad enough, I like to record all of my "live" parts in little chunks to make sure I can focus on getting my best possible performance for each segment -- being able to just organize audio clips by instrument after they're in the project has made things so much smoother. Because I end up with so so so many of them :) And it means I can officially give my real instruments real silly little names which is always fun and sometimes necessary. :D I did not know about assigning the project an automatic folder -- I've been using manual file management to keep things organized for a very long time. :)

You can really speed up your workflow by using the underlined letters in the menus. E.g. just right click a control and press c for copying a value and right click another and press p to paste the value. This is so much faster than always using the mouse in the menus! And for renaming things just mousewheel click on them.

Hi Mike, thanks for your tips, i learn't 1 or 2 things today! Right click to bring up effects in the mixer and that reverb technique using Edison i just did not know about, and I've been using FL Studio for a considerable amount of time! One tip for you and everybody else is grouping the vst plugins and effect plugins. If you go to where you select which vst or effect you want to use, scroll all the way down until you see three options: Categories, Simple, Tree - Select Tree and everything is grouped and much more easier to find! Saves a lot of time trying to find which vst or effect you want to use. I also have the effects panel on the left hand side, much more user friendly!

I have two quick questions that i hope on of you guys can answer. 1) How can i drag an instrument/midi/sample/recording from my channel rack into an individual track? For some reason i don't seem to get that right. 2) when working in the piano roll i have the problem that my notes can only be dragged and moved with one frame. This takes a lot of time because now i have to zoom in all the time to really drag a beat or melody into it's perfect frame. When i opened and worked in fl studio for the first time the notes were way easier and quicker to drag because it made steps of like quarter or eight notes at a time. How can i change the amount of frames back to "factory" settings? Thanks so much for your time. I love these videos!

Hi, first of all, thanks for the great tips and for all the work you do! Can you make a tutorial about drum editing? I started recording multitrack drums and the approach to drum editing is always "painful" in fl studio since there is not any tool such as "elastic audio" or "beat detective" (I guess they belongs to pro tools). Do you have any suggestion? workflows, pipelines that are fl studio specific? thanks.

Hey a quick question the project folder option, only saves the things you record? does it save the samples, loops or fx's you use from your personal sound packs? or do you have to make a zip file project to have that? It would be nice if everything saves under the same folder you choose at the beginning.
