Unbelievable Florida wants LGBTQIA+ people to be quiet and not celebrate. The true sign of progress is when no one has to be in the closet anymore and all can be themselves in public and work places, without fear of discrimination and hate, that is freedom. I saw a video where a Christian girl was condemning "pride" as a sin, as in saying you are "proud", but all the Christians are saying "proud to be an american" lol, what hypocrites. 🏳‍⚧

it's freedom to practice religious discrimination against things selectively chosen from the Bible. There are several layers of freedom here. The freedom to practice a religion, which is given by the 1st amendment. The freedom to choose Christianity, also given by 1st amendment. Freedom to choose which Bible verses to highlight, how to translate them how to interpret them: also first amendment. Freedom to act and voice one's opinion in accordance with those religious principles (1st amendment again). Don't like it? Start your own religion and come back in 2000-6000 years and the 1st amendment will have your back. Actually you can be a pro-lgbt Satanist right now and 1st amendment has your back. I've heard some sketchy things about the church of Satan being a bit of a scam, but start your own denomination. Freedom. this is sarcastic btw. I do support a vaguely satanist/Luciferan/promethean sort of vibe, but they tend to swing right wing libertarian. that flashlight bridge is dope, and probably also backed by 1st amendment (free expression, free assembly, petition of greviance). Pesky amendment, gives freedom to a lot of competing viewpoints

Nothing says "freedom summer" quite like forcing people to put up only three colors of lights, one of which isn't even technically a color, and tell people from two different communities that they can't be supported and celebrated.

I know Florida has a strong gay community. Are they doing anything at all to fight th don’t say gay law etc? I hope they don’t give up but if they do nothing, Florida is lost to gays and any other minority. All important without a doubt, but the closest to me is the gay community me and my husband are a part of. Happy pride month to all.

All they have to do is accidently brighten the red to pink and the bridges will be trans.

Isn’t denying free speech on government property a clear 1st amendment violation?

My gaydar (which is pretty good) goes off big time on Ron Desantis. Example he was giving a speech during the covid era and several high school students were standing behind him with masks on; Ron turns around and says to the students "this covid theater has to stop" - what straight guy would use the phrase "covid theater". And don't get me started on his high white boots.

It’s summer in Florida. Summer starts at the end of April here. Usually over by the end of October. The dictionary definition doesn’t matter when it’s so hot you can’t breathe.

@@dohc16vturbo4g63 in Florida we call the seasons based on the heat. If you say ‘June only has a week of summer’ it’s gonna take a sec for people to figure out what you mean. The idea that seasons are only dependent on a calendar is kind of absurd to me. The reason we have words for seasons is to describe what the weather is generally like at different times of year. This has nothing to do with science, by the way, it’s about how people use language and I told you how those words are regionally used in parts of Florida.

@@laurafrakinroslin actually, it does have everything to do with science. The earth has a tilt, which is why we have seasons in the first place. When it's facing the sun at it's closest tilt, it's called the summer solstice and when it's at it's furthest from the sun, it's called the winter equinox. The calendar doesn't have anything to do with it as the "days" tend to change every "year" by a few days and the "time" of "day" it happens is usually in the middle of the day. Just because it's hot in your area of the hemisphere, doesn't mean that it's hot in another, even those that are fairly close by (for example, the other side of the union).
