I don't use contraception personally, but I know a lot of uterus owners who do ,wether it's for preventing pregnancy, stopping menstruation or managing health conditions. I know a guy who had to take a full week off school every month because he was in so much pain and would experience spasms so severe he could not sit upright for more than a few minutes and struggled to keep food down, until he was 15 and got on the pill, after that he could be 'normal' he missed less school, his grades went up,he was able to maintain a healthy, stable weight and could spend time with friends instead of trying to catch up on school. He is who I think of when I talk about protecting the right to contraception, it's focused on plan b now, and the daily pill may seem safe, but abortion, it's protected exceptions and IVF seemed pretty safe too ,until they weren't anymore. we need to be one step ahead . I'm not in the USA ,I'm in Northern Ireland but when something happens over there, my politicians start parroting it pretty soon after.

Lets talk contraception. Hormonally evens me out, leaves me cyst free, yay! Last year, i had to fight the whole azz state of AR that a specific brand i need is actually needed. SHS started this 2025 stuff early over here. Just started doing it quietly.

I get that this was a show-vote for Democrats to campaign on. But if it illustrates that the GOP don't care if the right to contraception is taken away... good. Get republicans on record saying that. Run campaign ads against them. Whatever it takes to illustrate just how in danger our civil rights actually are.

It isn't that they don't care, they actively want contraception banned. It's just a lot of them are in districts where the voters would punish them for it. They'll do it the same way as they did abortion, creeping restrictions until they get a case that SCOTUS can then use to allow bans. Both parties are not the same, and even if you simply can't bring yourself to vote for Biden over Gaza, if you are over 18 and a US citizen, register to vote and vote against far right politicians in every down ballot race. Also, do your research on local races. Party politics break down at that level and you might get weird situations with candidates not following their party's platform or races where there's a viable third party candidate.

"Voting is not a reflection of personal morals, it's a strategic move." As a Brit I'm very conscious of that right now. The best thing I can do come July is vote tactically to oust the Conservative in my constituency.

"what are you gonna do for the other 364 days of the year" this is actually one of my favorite facts. because presidential elections happen on leap years, EVERY year has 365 days without one

That's not sufficiently "women's fault" for the Nazis. Their line will be life begins at ovulation and menstruation is manslaughter.

as a weird Swedish person I just find it odd how poor your electoral system is, (we do proportional representation not first past the post so even if we have voting districts they wont be gerrymandered thanks to them only being for easier counting, also we have our votes on Sundays to make sure people can vote and our system encourages more parties, now there are flaws in this as well with needs for coalitions and such but that also helps smaller parties politics get through)
