Fixing up an old road with Mecalac MTX12- Part 1

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

In this video you can follow the first part of fixing up an old road to look just like a new one. The road is from the beginning of the 20th century and it has become overgrown by vegetation. The first step is to scale of the vegetation, undernith there is a really good base layer of gravel that just needs some freshing up. I do this by adding an layer of geotextile and some extra gravel.
We do however have one problem - the culvert. The culvert is as you can see broken beyoned repair and needs to be replaced. After the replacment we build it in by the same rocks as before to containe the original old fashioned look.
To make the road strong I compact it alot. The material used is gravel in sizes 0-90 millimiter.
This job is done with a 2018 Mecalac MTX12.
The video is a combination of time lapses and regular filming. This way I can show you most elements without you having to watch for days. This also means that the video partly has no original sound. I have put together a playlist of the tracks available here on youtube but the choices are limited. If it's not your jam, you'r welcome to mute and watch with your own favorite playlist. Enjoy!
Thank you for watching! Subscribe to follow me at work ✌️

    Nice to see a video of someone who can actually operate. Well done and I must say I would love to have one of those machines. So much more versatility than my tractor w/backhoe.

    If i could see it right, its a Tiltrotor and the good thing is, its available for almost all machines that have enough hydraulic power. I have seen operators doing stuff with this where i surely said: "That man can eat his lunch with that machine." I mean, just the ability to have a quick change and turn your shovel/fork 360 degrees gives you SO much more options! Plus the grapple you have on it.

    Great video showing hat the equipment can do as well as your ability, love the time lasp video with the music. I can see this took a while to complete and you did not boor us with all the details, but presented what you can do. Not too mention the artistry in placing the concrete around the drain pipe.

    Mycket bra video! Snyggt jobbat! Ser fram emot mer att kolla framöver.

    Some of us would rather hear the equipment instead of the music. And is the film flipped over or do they put the cab on that side in your country?

  • @rasmushammarlof1164

    I hear u :) It´s just that when filming in timelapse mode the camera doesn´t pick up any sound. Therefore the music :) On this model the cab is on the right hand side, kind of special. It´s been explained to me as more safe for the operator when leaving the cab on roadworks ect. :)

    I think YOU made a mistake........You should have completely filled in the GAPS on both sides of the NEW PIPE with GRAVEL , INSTEAD of laying those large rocks DIRECTLY ON TOP OF THE NEW PIPE ! WHY......Because , NOW when heavy vehicles drive over the rocks , their weight is DIRECTLY Pressing on the NEW PIPE .......NOT GOOD !!!! MY way , the weight would have supported BY the gravel INstead OF the rocks !!! THINK ABOUT IT !!!!

  • @rasmushammarlof1164

    @rasmushammarlof1164

    Hi Joe, Thanks for your input! But as you can se in the video, I just put the large rocks on the pipe to keep it in place in the stream while I fill the gaps and around the pipe with gravel. After the pipe is set and fixed in position I move the rocks and use them in the wall on each side of the road. The gravel is compacted and takes up the bigger part of the load 😁👍
