Fixing up an old road with Mecalac MTX12- Part 2

The second part of fixing up an old road. In this video you can see how a little geotextile and gravel make the road look like new. To make the road strong I compact it alot. The material used is gravel in sizes 0-90 millimiter.
This job is done with a 2018 Mecalac MTX12.
The video is a time lapse. This way I can show you most elements without you having to watch for days. This also means that the video partly has no original sound. I have put together a playlist of the tracks available here on youtube but the choices are limited. If it's not your jam, you'r welcome to mute and watch with your own favorite playlist. Enjoy!
Thank you for watching! Subscribe to follow me at work ✌️

Very nice piece of equipment. I’ve noticed the equipment overseas is about 4 to 5 years ahead of ours here in the states. Just like the tilt rotator has been used in Europe for many years it’s just now available to us at dealerships without having to order from over seas as a special order. It’s crazy how behind we are. We do things very different though. On a job like that I would have had a track skidsteer with a dozer blade for the cut then tailgate the material in starting from one end then completing at other. 1000 feet in same conditions around 4-5 hours depending on how many trucks are hauling to me.

You are right! As u say we have been using the tiltrotators for over 30 years, they are as standard as it gets over here. At the same time you can hardly find any skidsteers at all in Sweden. So as you say, is really different :) I agree l, the best would be to tailgate spread it with the truck, but as it was really heavy rain I was afraid the truck would get stuck in the slippery mud. It really doesn’t show, but it’s all a long slope uphill :)

@@randywilson6869 haha, it’s actually just one trip! We always have the trailer behind the machine and all the necessary tools fit in there! The machine runs at about 32km/h so we drive it to the different sites 👍

Why didn’t you use the paper on the last 100 yards of road because it looked really soft, I worked construction for thirty some years and we always it the paper down to stabilize the surface before covering with 407 or whatever customer wanted.

I see no reason to remove the dirt from the road at first, just put the stones on top. The plastic is useless and is only a money maker for the guy doing the work.
