@trafficlightdoctor I am from Alabama. What is your official job title? I want to transfer from a community college to a major university (possibly Auburn) into civil engineering. I have always been interested in traffic patterns (how intersections are designed, how traffic lights work, etc).

I am enjoying your longer videos! I am an engineering contractor now for almost 20 years for a pipeline company that runs from Houston to New York City area through central Mississippi. They like to keep a low profile and stay out of the news but when they shut down and have some kind of issue it's usually pretty big national news unfortunately. They keep a low head count and rely on their contractors pretty heavily. Me and my coworkers know all about the after-hours and holiday weekend support calls unfortunately, so I feel your pain! It's usually IT or computer-related issues and not electrical issues causing the big widespread downtime. I've always had an interest in traffic lights and traffic control. I have one setup in my garage with 12" lenses hooked up to a MicroLogix PLC. Keep the videos coming!!!

When you're on vacation - especially somewhere far away from home, I'll bet you are like me and check out the signalized intersections! I always wonder what type of controller, notice the type of hardware installed, etc.. It's great if I see a signal tech working in the cabinet and I can observe and strike up a conversation.

That intersection needs to be converted into an interchange where it has an overpass and a exit ramps

Seeing that rr-xing you drove by has me wondering -- what is it like working on an intersection that has RR preemption or some other of preemption and how does it work to interrupt the phase cycle? If you have any intersections youre working on that have those, id love to see how that works.

We have barrier islands all up and down the coast here in the Tampa / St Pete area, but the water doesn’t look anything like that, even w/ about 3 Million people living within a few miles. Only near the port have I seen water that looks like that and it’s about 20 miles inland.

The waterproofing for those cameras is incorrect. I observed in your last video about replacing the rj45 on a problematic camera. With cable glands, you want to use self fusing tape. Covering the gland from nut to wire then back. Finally a layer of electrical tape in the opposite direction. Nut to wire and back. Simply put, a cable gland does not always work.
