If the person cut your hair like her example… they are not stylist they are “hack jobs”. So sorry! Don’t go back. I would give them a review so no one else goes to that person either.

Cosmetologist leave school learning the basics and thats after 10 months. You cant just become some great stylist from doing yourself. You gotta know the difference between point cutting, slicing etc. Those videos telling people to cut their hair from home in ponytails makes my skin crawl. They leave out what about thick hair or how to soften that line etc. I hope you can get it fixed

Me too had very bad chops and fringe is very bad both sides are different. I cry everyday in the morning and evening. All I heard from the salon is "We are very sorry" try to fix it with the same hairdresser she done even more worse and hair now is to short to do anything with them and my hair is sticking out like am some kind of a mad woman that just chopped her hair by herself. It takes 6 months up to a year to grow this mess now and all they say " We are sorry" this is not fair I think as this damaging someone's confidence, money lose, distress and nothing can be done about it you suffer for some time and they still working and doing causing so many more people this kind of inconvenience. I hope all those practitioners will be shut one day as people will learn how to cut their own hair.

Now that's what all cosmetologist and barber's should have to know and should also be included on their practical test at the state board! Unfortunately to my knowledge it's not . Just your regular 90,180, 45 degree cuts, which you need to know also, but blending the hair from a mistake should be one also! Awesome job!

Thank you! I used to cut my own hair for 20 yrs because I couldn't find anyone to do it right. It's been over a decade since I did my own hair, ( arthritis) and I got a super short whack job from a small salon yesterday. I figured I'd fix it when I got home. But I just froze when I went to fix it knowing one wrong cut and I'm doomed. This made total sense and I feel confident I can fix it. Thank you SO MUCH

Thank you!

I know, me too! My area is the same way (I live in Tennessee) And I'm at the point now where I'm actually considering to save up some money and book a flight to go see her lol. Sounds crazy, but I'm that desperate. I let my hair get pretty long with hopes that a good stylist could give me a professional ✂️after 4 years of bad cuts. So when I went in last week, I told her I wanted the length no shorter than to lay on my shoulders. By the time she finished, one side is half way up my neck and poofy like a mushroom while the other side is about an inch longer with less texture. I don't want to risk going shorter. But this is the worst cut I've ever had, and I don't trust myself. So I'm very frustrated!

Волосы и причёска как у мастера в ролике, отросли и надо было сделать чуть короче и добавить градуировку. По итогу макушка оказалась короткой и исправили это короткой топ зоной😓. I’m a self chopper. Ugh! Living in a small town it’s hard to find a stylist who gets me. Had one and she moved away. She knew my hair so well there was never a bad cut. Thought I found another until she took to fakebook to humiliate self choppers and I get it, but we are humiliated enough when a major mishap happens. Not going to believe it but been self chopping since I could hold a pair of scissors and I’m 60 now. I would be fine to stop if I could only find a gal like you. I have fine brown hair so the mishaps aren’t as noticeable since I’m not blonde and I can curl and spray. I appreciate your page because since I’ve been doing it so long I’m not as bad as many, but still there’s no way to perfect your whole head. Thank you for your ideas and help.

Wow, you did a great mess, lol. And even better, fixing it. Back in the 90's I contacted a high-end salon for a cut, they were booked, and they referred me to another salon that happened to be their junior salon. So I trusted them and booked an appointment . My hair was long below shoulder-length, I wanted long layers. He took a really long time cutting, longer than most. When I came out, I did not really see the back, but I have noticed every time I get a bad cut from a stylist they like to curl and do stuff I normally would not to hide it. lol Seriously. Next day at work my friend saw the back of my head bc of course I did not style like he did. She said OMG you have steps .. Literally chunks straight across 3 steps in the back of my head I was livid lol I called the salon that referred me to their junior stylist salon went in they saw my hair tried to downplay it, then got their senior stylist who took me in that evening (he stayed late) to fix the problem. He literally said the easiest way to fix what happened was for him to go short so I figured ok why not. He after all said I had great ears lol . I have not had my hair that short since I was like 5 yrs old, but he did a great job. My hair is poker straight and fine, So it was a lot of work for me to keep it styled that short, but I did it. And yes it eventually got back to being long. But omg, shock to the system at that point from long to very short so that my so-called nice ears were showing, lol. It was a good cut. I have had other bad cuts, a chunk from one side in front. I called complained did not go back to let her fix it I instead got my scissors out and did the best I could myself. Again it grows out. Never went back to that salon. Another bad cut, but the cut itself was good, just not even close to what I wanted. Again, grows out lol You did wonderful on that manikin after the choppy 'errors' you purposely created, Thank you Summer :)

I feel you. I told my hair dresser to cut my bangs diagonally to blend with my hair and get that curtin bangs look, and I emphasized that I don't like them short. They took my bangs and cut it straight, too short. I was shocked. Did they not hear me? I stated clearly that I don't want them straight. And why did they cut it that short? I now can't even fix it myself! Not to mention their horrible work with the rest of my hair. They were supposed to be a "professional". My mom was with me and she kept complementing me to make me feel better about it so I didn't brust on the hair dresser but once I got home I noticed how truly horrible their work was.

We "old ladies" don't want old lady hairstyles, which is why I do my own. I consider myself a "seasoned citizen."

Hey, sometimes some of us get an idea and run with it. After all, it's only hair. 😊 I am also blessed with hair texture that can hide a lot. I have taken scissors to my own hair many times. I think I've only felt the need to go into a salon to have it fixed once. That time I knew I had messed up as soon as the scissors snapped closed. The lady I went to laughed at me. I don't think I have been back to that particular salon since. If you come to be known as the place to go to have bad haircuts fixed, whether self-inflicted or otherwise, you are golden.

I’ve been to 10 different stylists in my area for cuts and colors and I haven’t received a decent haircut in the past two years. I tell them how to keep it from looking butched and they always say oh yes, I did. I thinned it out, so you’re not so thick there. What they really did is just cut it shorter and shorter and shorter on the ends only. How do I explain to the next hairstylist that this is what I want done I want it to look smooth without choppiness.

You really made that look beautiful and saved her hair! That choppy mess is exactly how my hair looks now😢 I waited six months to afford a salon appointment and moved to a new town and went to someone with “40 years of experience” and now I have a mullet😢😢 I am afraid to fix it myself, but don’t know what to do now

I feel you, I had my hair too messed up by an old "professional" after I waited so long to get it done, now it's too short to fix and I'm seeing my friends soon and feeling insecure about it, I'll try to let it grow a little bit before trying to fix it

I cut my hair a few days ago. Very bad hair cut on my straight hair I have chops like that all over and my fringe bangs are different and both wants to lay different even when I try to style the same way one shorter and finer than the other side.

You might think these layers are dramatic, but I did layers in my hair two different ways. The first way I did it was weeks ago and it looked nice. But I wanted to try a different technique and I fcked up, badly! My hair reminds me of emo hair from back in the day with crazy choppy layers especially at the top. My god. I hope I can fix this.

my haircut is almost similar to the hair of the mannequin. :< I have a long hair and I requested for long layers for more volume but the hair stylist or should I say 'hair butcher' did to my hair is a blunt cut all around my head. :< it looks so bad. I'm gonna try to have it fixed, but I'm having trust issues.

I like how everyone is commenting that their bad haircut comes from a stylist or hairdresser rather than themselves. What infuriates me the most is that mine was commenting how nice my uncut hair was (it was really long and healthy).

Great job!!! One thing I wonder is if hairstylist take into consideration the shape of the clients face? Are there practice mannequins with different shaped faces?

I love how you keep saying "a client comes in after cutting their hair too short".... Nope. A hairdresser fk'd mine up. Id actually cut curtain bangs myself after watching SO many videos and thought it was the best thing I'd done, it looked great! Then the hairdresser decides to start my fringe 1cm further back ON ONE SIDE... She then decided to go right across on that same side, but left the other side, the left, as curtain bangs. What she's left me with is a complete mess. It doesn't look good down because the fringe is way back and sticking right out as it's too short to do anything with... The left side is fine! I think people are in the wrong job sometimes.. it's no wonder women cut their own hair and hope for the best!

Gosh, I wish I could find a stylist like you in my area. You do a beautiful Job ! My Mom was a Pro stylist, (She is 90 now) and always cut my hair dry, & Point cut, then the Razor or the thinning shears. I can not find a stylist that will cut my hair dry!! I have Baby Fine, Stick Straight & allot of elasticity . I do have a fair amount of hair. I always end up with BLUNT layers. It has been 15 yrs now since I have had a well blended hair cut like you just did in this Video! ❣

Uhhh- I have a “chunk” on one side. It reminds me of when my bang grew out a couple years ago. Why do they say they’re “really good” w- layers, yet we wind up w- cuts like this one?☝️😳 If only YOU were in my area….I’d book an appointment SO fast!
