WHY BASEMENT WALLS BOW INWARD
One of the most common reasons for a bulging basement wall is the expansion of clay soils when moisture is present on the outside wall. Clay soils expand when they get wet, and shrink when they dry out. This expansion of wet clay soils pushes against your foundation wall and when this force exceeds the strength of the wall, your basement wall will crack and move inward. When you have bowing walls, your house can start to shift causing… misaligned doors, walls cracking on upper floors and in extreme cases, basement walls that collapse inward. HOW THEY WORK
Gorilla Wall Braces® are installed completely on the inside of your basement. Our Gorilla Wall Braces® are secured to the floor joists and floor to push a steel beam against your bowing wall to stabilize and push the wall back into place. The Gorilla Wall Brace® floor bracket was engineered so it doesn’t require removal of the concrete floor. The steel beam sits on top of the floor bracket which is secured to the floor with 2 masonry screws. The threaded pushing rod at the top of the Gorilla Wall Brace® is tightened and exerts force evenly from top to bottom across the beam stabilizing your basement wall and stopping any further inward movement.
PATENTED - BETTER DESIGN
Unique in the industry, Gorilla Wall Braces® push off of three floor joists, giving the Gorilla Wall Braces® system more pushing power over other systems on the market that are attached to only one or two floor joists. Utilizing three floor joists also allows wall loads to be distributed more evenly to prevent floor joists from twisting or buckling as in other systems because there is a lot of pressure to your floor joists when pushing back the walls.
Gorilla Wall Braces® can push your basement wall back into place with no excavation to the exterior. The homeowner tightens the braces each month to keep continual pressure to the beam against the wall, which over time will push your wall back into place. If you want to straighten you walls in one day, that can be accomplished with slight excavation on the outside next to the foundation wall to alleviate the pressure pushing the wall inward and to allow space for the basement wall to be pushed back out. Gorilla Wall Braces® are then tightened to apply pressure evenly across all of the Gorilla Wall Braces® on the inside of the basement wall until the wall is pushed back straight on the same day.
