There's no question that Euro Nymphing has gained quite a bit of popularity over the past several years. With some similarities to tight line nymphing, euro nymphing sheds the shackles of the modern bobber and relies on a direct connection to the flies. This technique allows you to fish a variety of water types not easily fished with a western indicator rig. With that in mind, we tagged along with Umpqua's own Russell Miller (Team USA Competitive Angler, Director of Marketing at Umpqua) to enjoy a little bit of European nymph fishing in Cheesman Canyon.

Personally I would swap that mop for and tungsten beaded egg, and that maybe influenced by the fact 9 months out of the year the trout I am targeting are seeing eggs in the system depending on the elevation
Excellent video per usual. Question: Do happen to know what size tungsten beads Russ was using for each of the respective five flies? I imagine he was likely going fairly light (1mm - 2.5mm), but would be very helpful to know. Thank you!

Love the videos guys. Question: Assuming I'm making some quality drifts, how many times do I make the drift before I make a fly change? You said sometimes pink and purple kill them but if they're not "killing" them that day do I make 5 good casts or 10? When I make a change I've heard that adding weight or sizing down with the same pattern is often the key.

Change weight, and if that doesnt work, change flies, but always try moving your flies around the column first

Normally I love these videos… But this one, stop trying so hard with the euro jokes. I like this channel because you guys are funny and informative. This whole video just really misses the mark though.
Never fished chessman too many people. I’m blessed to have Wyoming and nw Colorado to fish. Less people always better

Last month's Five Flies was on a freestone - the ole Arkansas River. Fact is, we have a lot of freestones and tailwaters around us and the tailwaters tend to fish better during these colder months.
I can't tell you how much I hate those sunglasses. WHY?!?
Idea: split the screen and leave the fly up while you're talking.
