Basically an overhand knot with an extra wind?
What type of rod were you using
Lived in Michigan for 30 years. I have chased every fish in the state with a fly rod. Nothing, and I mean _nothing_ stokes my fire like big smallies. They're just different. They're bulldoggin', backflippin', tailwalkin', mean muggin' psychos.
Which version of the tfo reel sbould i get my rod is a 7 or 8 weight 9ft
Thank you! Excellent tutorial!
haha yes gottem!
I always felt using an equal weight ratio rod to bring those larger scrape fish is best overall, great topic.
you absolutely do not need expensive gear to get carp on a fly. I do it all the time with cheap equipment don't let these merch pushers fool you. they're just trying to sell
I absolutely agree, buy a $200 7/8 weight and just fish. Carp, Gar, Big Bass, just go fishing! I’ve never encountered a sport that has so few working parts on equipment charge as much as fly fishing.
@viator21 what about center pin rigs? they may be contenders as well 😆
@@turkN9NE I didn’t even know this was a thing! Makes me laugh watching it. The should just buy a spinning reel and fish conventional.
I have no idea why people have to overcomplicate this very very SIMPLE craft that requires a lot of SKILL by adding strike indicators (bobbers) and full sinking line. Maybe I’m missing something, but I doubt it. I fish about 4 times a week, (fly exclusively) and scratch my head why people dump money into overpriced gear. Elitism at it’s worst.
@viator21 lol I know. gotta get that absolute perfect drift via extremely expensive gear, or you're just never gonna catch a fish. might as well just stay home 🤣 🤣
They're impossible to catch though
❤ thank you. So if I have understood, I have to cast about two meters from the carp and retrieve the fly in front
Great video ! Would a 10’ 7wt do the job or is it too long of a rod ? Cheers
Cool video!
Awesome video. Lovely production, editing, and storytelling. So cool
Exquisite bit of water! Scale of 1-10, how stoned were you?
anybody that has honestly chased big river smallmouth on a fly, knows that mike schultz is right. the big ones 18"+ are not that easy to catch. Tons of fun when you finally do find a pod of some bigger fish, specially if they want to eat top water!
Too much talking and useless B roll footage and not enough fishing action.
Hi - My wife and I are looking for a two or three day float fly fishing for trout. Do you have any suggestions for fly fishing loges who offer multi-day float fly fishing with experienced guides. I fly fished when I was young but my wife will be brand new to fly fishing. We hope to stay in a lodge with meals provided. Do you know of any fly fishing lodges that offer couples fishing experiences? Thanks!

don't trim your line and litter the trim please
Just a note. 100 yr floods do not mean once every hundred years. I lived along the Yellowstone river for awhile and we had back-to-back 100 yr floods. “On average”
OMG!!! I good instructional fly tying video is showing more the fly than yourself!!! Couldn’t take it! Punched out after 15 mins!!! Could care less abiut this fly now!!!!
Y’all got me hyped for my local popper season
I'm buying one very soon a 9'6" in a 5wgt ! I have the Pure in a 9ft 4wgt and love it also.
Something about the landing tipped that fish it was a fake
I like ❤
Where does the Tom Morgan favorite fit in relationship to your other rods? Out of your entire line up which rod would be best for small stream trout fishing for relatively small trout in the 8 to 15 inch range?
Amen brother, preach on.... Clinch and Surgeons work even in saltwater gear, ad the Uni and Albright for very special occasions.
Nice one. Subscribed!
How did u make those burnt mono eyes?
Fantastic video! Clean, dry, to the point. Exactly what I was looking for! Thanks Man! 🤙
Need to tell us which fly the hit on.
Nicely done, a lot of good information thanks😉👍
The are closed down. Seized for taxes. Lots of people lost a lot of money. Unpaid vendors and guides and gift cards now worthless. Too bad.
when will this be back in stock? or will it? I subbed to the list and here.
Is this Pueblo?
Restock it please!!!
Please write, I want to buy g3 waders, but in my size the stockings are 9-11, boots are size 8 for such stockings, how critical will it be with folds in a boot with this size?
Love small stream fishing! 🔥
Back in the day the cockroach was tied with the hook shank bare because they used a snell knot to attach the leader . Now we use loop knots but the pattern still works . Thanks for sharing
Very helpful for understanding fly fishing.
Men I really enjoy the way u guys filmed the boat going down stream as you fish showing Birdseye view. It explains in great detail your technique and how your fishing the pocket water and small feeding lanes. You guys are great. Also love watching 5 flies i have been following u dudes for years. Much love from helena montana. Your always welcome to come up here to fish the Missouri river tailwaters with me. Through thr Land of giants canyon. Let me know!
Tie on a nymph dropper, so you can keep streamer fishing
Big jerks under Bull Shoals. 7’3”exHvy 65lb braid 15-20’ 25lb fluorocarbon leader. When running 4 units of course. Had a brown break off a couple months ago, still hurts
What month was this?
I have to be honest here..... I own two NVG reels from about 6 years ago when there was no diff between the 8 & 10 weight size..... so I interchange them with 4 spools and they have served me very well as they are excellent saltwater reels. The drag adjustment could use some work but they slammed it out of the park with the GTX ........ thats another story. I'm very happy with i have and they do the job better than anything else I've tried . I also have 2 NVG monsters and they are fakken phenomenal as well as i fished for big tarpon with them on a 12 weight. Going for some big GT's ( i hope) in about a month so we'll see how things go. Bottom line is these are very, very good reels and are meant to take a shit-kicking with some real nasty saltwater critters. The only downside is they are getting a bit pricey, but, so is my ex ...... what can you do?
How do you make fish want to eat it? I have a tidal area where most of the fishermen are using live blue crabs. Curious how to entice Tatung.
When did $675.00 become budget. I’m falling behind in the times.
Great video! Where can I find the wakame salad video?
Would the M flat sneakers be good for getting in and out of a kayak? What neoprene socks would you match with them?
Talk about match the hatch
