    I live in palmetto. I fish the rivers and Tera ceia a lot. I lost about a 40 pound tarpon at the skyway bout a month ago off a live grunt. But why side do you normally fish? I got the north end on st pete side atleast 2 times a month and can never seem to stick a grouper out there. Do you normally Gish the south side? Seems like there is a lot more structure over there. Pinfish are always plentiful on the flats on the south side. I just need to find the groupers 😂

    How much slack line are you giving the pinfish when freelining? Still trying to improve my grouper game out there lol. Also, I heard when you get rocked, sometimes when you tighten the line and play it like a guitar OR release tension and give it slack they'll come out. Just keep your hand on the line so you feel them move and then reel like hell.

  • @Thonny

    @Thonny

    4 жыл бұрын

    Danny Truong I usually give slack as soon as the pinfish hit the water so it can swim deeper. Be careful though if you let the pinfish swim too deep it’ll rock itself up! You want to feel the pinfish swimming. When you get rocked up just give it slack and hope it comes out!

  • @Thonny

    @Thonny

    Жыл бұрын

    Yes I’ve got em on 60lb in the past! Honestly I would stick with lighter leader like 60lb or 80lb to get more bites! Anything over 80lb is just too thick! Plus if you get hung up which it will happen. It’s a pain in the butt to get out. If a grouper gets you in the rock most likely he’ll snap the leader. I’ve had them snap 120lb leader !

    Saleh Almarfadi that is the Sunshine Skyway Fishing Piers, I-275 crossing Tampa Bay. There is a pier on both ends, it’s the old bridge parallel to the new bridge, used as fishing piers now.
