Keep those tips coming, they should really help me in a couple weeks! Can't hardly wait to fillet some mangroves and try a method out on some mackerel. I want to see if they will skin about like a freshwater trout. If so cleaning time will drop immensely.

what penn spinning reels offer the ability to reel in the opposite direction like you mentioned?

Excellent demonstration of how to rig it and rock it on the Skyway Pier. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. Yes, I'd enjoy a Spanish Mackerel catch and cook for sure. I like to eat them, fresh is always best, a new recipe would be awesome.

I see that guy all the time. That's literally ALL he does! He snagged my line a couple of times in the past. I have seen him cast right over people. But nice vid man! Simple but very effective technique.

That is a shame, he was definitely casting on top of us. I was about to say something and then he smacked a car and he walked down the way. Common courtesy isn't very common anymore.

It wasn't intentional but he was running all over us and the pier in the shallows were empty.

Went out yesterday to the Skyway and used this technique and had success with the Spanish Mack's. The bait was thick, the drive over from Orlando was painful but it was a beautiful way to spend the day, while fishing a different technique and 'acquiring the the targeted species' with it, thanks for sharing!

Another great knowledgeable!!! Spanish Mackerel are pretty good in my opinion. A catch n cook video would be dope, too!!! I've smoked n grill Spanish before n it was delicious

Let’s see the recipe chef! Been fishing the skyway a lot lately but I’m usually targeting snapper. Stocked up on these supplies after your last video though. Gonna try to get after them tomorrow or Thursday before the storm this weekend! Thanks for the tips!

I'd love to see your recipe for cooking Spanish mackerel, Josh. And that's a great reminder about casting too, I also use the same way as yours when casting spoon.

Wow!!! That's a big dent on that vehicle. You can hear the thump as he tries to cast 😁. Great video bud. I'm definitely going to try the upward fling cast. When i fish for Stripers i tend to use a long leader & it's difficult to cast. Thanks for sharing 👊👍🎣😎

Great advice!! I have a tip for you to make the mackerel taste better jug it right away and bleed it out if you plan to eat it. That gets rid of the fishy tasting brown meat. Even my children will gobble it down.

Hey Josh.. Great video.. Never thought you could use artificial bait from the Skyway pier . Loved the video and gave me something else to try.. A catch and cook would be cool. I was told to let mackerel fillets soak in milk before cooking them.. Wasn't bad really.. Big thanks for sharing what you do so the rest of us can learn and not look like fools..lol. Lures definitely help speed the catching process up for sure. We have fished the rock piles from a boat many times, you just have to watch for the dolphins. They can be a real nuisance. Thanks for watching. 👍

4 oz sinker works best for me but lord, it's tiring. Great work. Keep hustling

I sometimes go up to a 2 oz but that is the heaviest for me.

Josh, love the videos. What do you recommend for a rod/reel combo for lure fishing the mackeral on the bridge? I use my usual rod reel but it’s a bit heavy to be casting so often.....

I love catching those smacks off the jetties on a spoon. You should do the catch and cook. I understand they are better if you bleed them out

As long as you remove the blood line they taste great! I will definitely do a cook.

Spanish Mack cut steak style, fried skin on is my fav. Not white and flaky, but smooth and delish, imo

Great video. The bridge shark nailing the car was gold. l can't believe the driver didn't get down to check for damage. You mentioned that you would've caught ten macks had you had your other spoon. And what spoon would that have been? If you don't mind me asking?

I was suprised they didn't get out and check also. Truth be told, I lost my clark spoon to a mackerel on the third cast and completed the video with a crocidile spoon and it's just not the same but it works.

Enjoy your instructional vids. I prefer a 2oz. weight and 6 to 7 feet of leader. I might try a longer leader, like the 8-10 feet you use just to see if I get more hits. Say hello to Patti and Jitterbug at the peer house for me. Tell'm Kasey said hi! Cheers, brother.

What's better about using the trolling weight vs using a egg weight like on a Carolina rig for the spoon?

I absolutely love how he walks to the car in plain sight of the damage he just caused and looks over the top of the car where he knew he didn't hit anything and said it looks fine to him! Unbelievable! I'd be so pissed if I was the driver. That is one guy I would always be watching so as to stay away from him as we would definitely have words but also I would watch his catch and call in the local game warden if it looks like he's keeping undersized or illegal fish.

Frustrating for sure, nothing came about of this. The driver drove down the bridge and the guy kept on fishing.

Hey Josh, Neat video and looks like an all around way to catch different species. Did you actually hear that guy hit the car? If you would, please check your video and see. I swear he had already cast before the car came by and I would have thought the driver would have gotten out and put up more of an argument if he had hit it. I would have told them if I would have noticed it on the bridge. I didn't catch it until I started editing unfortunately. I knew he smacked the snot out of the car though, it was much louder than the audio sounded on camera.
