Fishing Cedros Island! "The Video"

Cedros Island was once a bucket list destination I only dreamt about visited in my life time.
Over the last 6 years, a group of 12 of us apart of the "Mission Belle Mafia", do an annual trip to Cedros for a 5 - 6 day fishing trip.
Now, Cedros Island is one of my favorite fisheries to visit and spend some time on the water!
I wanted to take the time to show you just a little piece of what Isla de Cedros has to offer in a one weeks time span.
From EPIC yellowtail and calico fishing being the main targets, to many other incredible game fish species such as barracuda, halibut, white sea bass, and even offshore pelagics during the summer such as bluefin, yellowfin, dorado / mahi, and even wahoo and marlin!
Cedros Island will forever be a desired destination of mine!

Being able to relive these experiences is the biggest bonus of all! Trying to find the right music to match what the vibes feel like out there is tricky though lol. Can’t wait to go back!

Thanks man, really appreciate it! And that still wasn’t the big flatty of the trip lol. That WSB was such a moral boost that day! Not only was it a big one, so we were all stoked about that, but needed that fish so bad. That was literally the first fish of the day and the last 45 minutes of our entire Cedros trip hahah

Hey Ray: what brand fish tape are you using to protect your fingers? I'm struggling to find tape that stays on. Right now I don't use tape at all. I prefer the large BandAid brand "Tough Strips" (NOT the water proof ones) but unfortunately they come off after reaching into the bait tank a few times. These tough strips are super sticky, highly resistant to braided line, and do not leave weird residue on your line. They're also expensive. The water proof Tough Strips get destroyed intstantly by braided line so I'm not a fan of that.

I’ve personally never paid attention to what brands they are to be completely honest with you. These last couple years I know I was using phenix finger tape, but I’ll use whatever anyone has. I actually don’t like using tape while I fish. Only time I really do is if I get a cut on my fingers I need to cover up so it doesn’t get worse, or when I’m doing a type of fishing that I know certain parts of my knuckles will get sore from gripping the handle so I add alittle cushion.

@@Dirty.Hookers -- I wrap the rubber "stem" of my reel handles with gopd electrical tape. That way the skin on hands doesn't get rubbed off by friction.

What does it mean to fish on sharks?

So Cedros island has a lot of blue sharks around, and the yellowtail are really opportunistic. They’ll actually take turns head butting the sharks in the stomach to get the shark to cough up food and then the yellows will eat it. So if you can land a lure near the sharks head while this is going on, you have a really high chance at hooking a yellowtail.
