Ep. 2: Speed Jigs & Surface Iron Yellowtail!
This video series takes place at Cedros Island in Baja, Mexico during July of 2023. Cedros has become one of my favorite fisheries that I have had the pleasure of fishing over the years.
This time of year, if you like surface fishing, is the perfect time of year for numbers! Good grade migrating schoolies, averaging out at 17 lbs - 25 lbs, and a great shot at transitioning homeguard season as well.
Unfortunately on this day, no giants were caught, but we saw a lot of very sizable fish that would not commit.
We had an overall very slow start to the morning. Running down bird school after bird school of finicky yellowtail. Topping it off with pretty rough and windy conditions adding to frustrations.
By the time we finally found some fish, all stars had aligned!
Gorgeous flat calm conditions, sun out, and boiling fish!
A handful of decent shots at surface iron fish, but this day, they especially wanted the yo-yos and vertical jigs.

Surface iron rods, this video I was using both a Phenix Axis 909HJ 9ft 30-80lb and an Axis 1009HJ 10ft 30-60lb

Do you know if the avet turn 2 reels have good free spool for casting

Accurate makes the turn 2, updated with a free spool u can find them on offer up
