This creek was tough because it was high and there were a lot of branches to fish with. I made the most of the open water I took shots at. I want to see what it looks like before it closes for the season in the Fall.

I was so happy to meet you yesterday at Eagle Lake. We have watched your videos and they are so awesome and informative. I have hiked Eagle Lake many times and it by far was one of the most beautiful mornings there ever! Look forward to watching more of your videos and thank you!👍🏻

Right on. I have tons of views like this on my backcountry fishing and hiking playlists. If you aren't into the fishing I feature a variety of killer backgrounds on my channel playlists. I hike into many different Wilderness areas.

Those were definitely nice brookies. The lake was nice & glassy looking. No matter age, shape high altitude kicks your butt.

It's always those first couple trips uphill on a trail that get me. I'll be above 10K' soon so we'll see how that goes. My guess, a lot of heavy breathing!

Brookies have some very nice colors, too bad water was too high - inlets are usually the ticket for you - still got some as always catch you on the next one - love the explorer line👍👊🎣

I need to go back right before it snows and I think it could be smoking hot up there once I can access more of the lake.

I've had the best luck on Eagle by crossing the outlet and working that north side. Good video! For me fishings always been about the journey not the destination that's why I prefer river fishing.

Yeah, that's the side I wanted to fish because there is way more open shoreline to work with. The outlet creek was high and swift enough where I didn't want to deal with it. It looked like you could make it without getting soaked but it was close!

Thanks for the memories. If you up one more lake, there the Velma Lakes. I think the last time I was there was around 1976. Caught a lot of trout. Fly casting while there was wind and put it on the water, then the water would calm...and the trout would come up and grab it. That is a pretty steep climb though.

Glad to bring those memories to you. On my backcountry fishing playlist I have fishing clips for Velma Lakes, Dick's, and Fontanillis up above here. If you want memories of how tough the hikes get that is on my hiking and backpacking playlist. Fishing can be tough but Velma has some nice rainbows.

I don't fish Tahoe much in the Summer but I have clips on my fishing tips playlist that show how I rig up to baitfish in the Lake down to the hooks I use. I also have a Lake Tahoe fishing playlist. If it is fishing ideas for the area you are looking for I have a lot of content on my channel playlist that cover that as well.

Amani, go to lake aloha if you want some big brooks. WE caught ten of them which were all over 15 inches last summer.

I plan to get to Aloha this year because I haven't fished it yet. Maybe this Fall. I'm not sure. I don't know where I'm going next week! Dick's and Fontanillis up there have great brook trout fishing as well. I have clips for those on my backcountry playlist and on my Patreon. The underwater footage of nice brookies spawning on my wildlife encounter playlist is from Fontanillis. I got one over 16" that day. Real fat.

@@wildernesswithamani1027 Its an all day hike/trip. Be on trail by 8. Taking the boat across echo lake might be the easiest way to get there

Thanks again for your videos I got a 1/8 oz mariboo black and went to the Owens river above Bishop nailed a 20 inch fat rainbow landed it, it was dope.! Got a great release as well he swam off under full power.

I've checked it out. Only fished a minute but didn't see much. Next up there will be Dick's and Fontanillis when I can get there. I have clips for both of those on my backcountry fishing playlist. Far, tough hike but well worth it. Fontanillis is where I shot the underwater clip of the brookies spawning that's on my wildlife encounter playlist. real nice fish in there.

Great scenery. Is the parking there good for a few days as its a trail head? I want head there in July

Here is my advice on that based on experience. Personally, I don't pull into the trailhead parking lot for any reason because there are so many people walking around in there it can be a nightmare to get out. I did it once on and overnight trip and I'll never do it again. What I do is park in the large parking area outside of the gate. Get there early in the morning and back in because when you try to leave there will be people walking all around and if you have to back out you might have to deal with traffic flying down the road as well. There will also be multiple cars waiting for spaces to open so you'll have to navigate that as too if you are backing out. In other words, that trailhead is a human zoo in July! Back in early and pull out easily any time you are ready to go. Don't pull into the main lot! It's a trap!

Do you add a shot weight with the maribou jig or just throw as is?

I typically tie jigs and all lures directly to my line so I have the most control possible. I had hit situations when the flow is high in rivers where I found myself wishing I had jigs that were heavier. Maybe 1/4-1/2oz for deep rushing sections but I didn't have them so I just made do. Eventually, I am going to mix in some heavier jigs for certain situations.

Will the fish there hit spoons? And will they bite mid day?

I don't use spoons that often but they tend to work for trout in general. In alpine lakes you can get fish all day, at least that's my experience. Different attacks might work better in different light (time) situations but usually the code can be cracked. I have several alpine lake fishing ideas on my fishing tips playlist. One thing is for sure about spoons, you can cast them far and that's always a plus.
