You're missing the secret weapon- the signal tower. If you put one down, then every missile tower on your entire planet will shoot anything it the signal tower's range.

Don't burn the early oil. You gonna need it for acid, yellow organical cristal, and graphene.

Technically, if you own the only structures on the planet that produce power, then you literally have all the power in the world.

Use geothermal power plants on the holes where the planetary bases were, you can get a lot of power and it has the same effect as filling the hole

Missing two key items for offense and defense. For defense the Battlefield Analysis building has its own set of constructor drones that will repair buildings in range and if stocked with items like belts it will rebuild anything that does get destroyed. As mentioned by others the missing offense and even some defense is the Signal tower. This allows any missile turret to fire missile at any enemy unit or building the signal tower has line of sight to. So all you really need is a couple signal towers to creep up to the AI base and than watch the fireworks show as all mistle turrets on the planet kick into action. Add a single Battle field Analysis building to the Signal tower closest to the AI base to keep the enemy from destroying the tower. The Signal Tower does also have some defense uses as well. So when the enemy space fleet comes a knocking the signal tower can help quickly destroy said fleet, as again allowing all missile turrets to attack fleet units the tower can see.

@@williamking331 it might get one but the energy cost of covering everything with Signal Tower is quite high. Also because all missile turrets have a relatively high power draw while firing, a planets worth can quickly push the energy production to its limit.

One is playing on 200% difficulty the other on 1800%, neither are doing max difficulty, 3000%.

@@prototype21That percentage is metadata multiplier and is influenced by many things. Nilaus is on max difficulty for the dark fog (10.0) and kibitz is on the default dark fog settings (1.0). Edit: I’m blind and Kibitz isn’t on default settings cause he has multiple bases and hives that spawned. I can’t remember what he’s using from the previous video but I know it’s not max difficulty

@@A_Very_Creative_Handle Metadata multiplier is influenced by one thing, difficulty settings. 0.1x resources & max dark fog is 3000%.

A couple of things. Battlefield Analysis Bases (BABs) are your best friend from the moment you get them. They have 12 construction drones and a wide area of coverage, so they can make things quicker then you can with your 5-6. They also repair buildings automatically so putting them nearish the dark fog assault line will keep everything up and firing smoother. They /also/ will collect dark fog drops as well if they're in range (see comment on BAB range). You can also put storage units on top of them to expand their cargo capacity. Then there's number 2. Sort of just a bit before the planetary logistics, is the 'fidget spinners'. Shorter range logistic drones (at least to start with) that move between storage units with a add-on attached. Not /as/ effective as PLS', but a passable intermediate step that won't require ripping out infrastructures to place the towers.

plus you can have the spinners keep your pocket in perfect order by supplying and collecting stuff you want or don't, and you get extra slots with their own separate upgradeable stack sizes. Great for carrying a bunch of hydrogen or anything else that doesn't stack high.

you can also put a geo gen in the holes that the bases make and get stupid power out

The last video finally made me play the game. By now I have conquered my homeworld and have a main bus circling almost around the entire planet. Because I have absolutely no Titanium I researched what I could, slowly set up a military industrial complex, secured the planet with shields and an absolutely massive fortress ring of guns around the pole and am now ready to reenact the opening of Avatar 2: Hot drop from space, set up a small power plant, bring the guns online and watch those bots melt as I mine all the Titanium I can before shipping it back home. Good stuff

You can also use the hole created by the planet's bases to place a thermal generator, this way the relay station will also go away.

@@906iphone Yes, it was the last year before I went to an institute (basically college) several kilometers further compared to school, where I also had to do stupidly complicated math and chemistry and physics even though it has nothing to do with the job that I want.

I always struggled with oil in my play throughs. Honestly, it was so tough I stopped playing bc of it. I was so use to using circuits in factory to solve the issues. Anyways, I FINALLY figured it out. I found that using an equal amount of refineries for all the oil recipes keeps the system moving like butter (or oil). 12-12-12, each 12 stack doing one of the three recipes. It worked out that the system kinda couldn’t clog up due to hydrogen/fuel. All you need extra is coal, which is typically not an issue.

Hey kibitz maybe you should spread your missile turrets out since the enemy ships use beam weapons that slice the surface meaning you are likely to lose all your missile turrets at the same time. While I am sure it is easy to put them like that you have to be dead certain you can take two waves of fleets at the same time

What the others have said. Build the BABs at your offensive/defensive lines. Use Geothermal on those drill spots. I have entire planets driven by that hot rock, because the Relays keep trying to invade. And for me, I find the Implosion Cannons plus Gauss Turrets way better for planetary bases. The ammo is so much cheaper, and they pop ground and air units in large groups. Save those missiles for space baddies.

Man, it's a long time ago that i played this game.... I always build a ring of solar pannels with wind turbines on the equator of my plannet.

Don't forget you can stack some buildings, and they then auto sort the items between those above. Like stacking the research labs or chests/depots. Also a great tip is putting a depot above a splitter. That stores any items that overflow on the splitter. That way you don't need sorters to input to a chest.

you can also feed out from a chest using a splitter to get constant max belt speed for no power instead of using 3 blue sorters that still won't fill it completely for...some amount of power... idk how much but it adds up

i don't know if ou've figure it out, but you can press Z to activate your robots targeting reticle. it's prett useful to specifically target those high energy towers while your defenses deal with the hoards

instead of filing in foundation where the dark fog base is, you can put thermal power plants... unless of course it'll be in the way for a factory you want to make

Are you going to use the container drones? they need upgrades, but they are worth it! the drones can be placed on containers and automatically distribute items between containers and the icarus mech!

Unfortunately, you got the "ideal" ratio for the xray cracking wrong. If you want to fully process the incoming oil, you need 2 cracking plants for every plant doing the basic oil recipe. This is great early game, where you mostly need hydrogen and the graphite for science. This processes/consumes all of the light oil and is ideal for a pure science setup. Later on you'll want to get rid of this though, as you get more sources of hydrogen (gas giants, and other processing steps has it as a byproduct as well) and light oil becomes your main concern with oil (plastic, sulfuric acid, graphene). Then you don't wany any cracking at all, and you might wanna start "reverse cracking": There's a 2nd recipe that creates more light oil by actually adding coal.

As someone with max darkfog difficulty, I'd like to add: Farming darkfog lvls up ALL darkfog in the system, I closing other planets. By the time I felt ready to tackle a titanium planet, they had 15 LVL 18 bases and I couldn't crack it with the tech LVL I had. So I had to slowly tech past them with darkfog drops so I could expand. Different playstyles will work smoother with different strategies.😅

You need a whole ton of oil in early game... don't just burn it. And you can save 10.000 hydrogen in a liquid storage and burn the rest on early game...

Day 3 of asking kibitz to play mindustry.

It hurts my soul to see you burning all of your oil like that. Soon you'll need oil for plastic, organic crystals, and graphene. And the oil seeps that you tap will slowly deplete, leaving you with no more oil on your planet - which also means in your system. You're going to get stuck having to fly out to another system just for oil a LOT sooner than you expect 😕 Just turn coal into the combustible fuel and use that to run your thermal power plants. Then eat a bunch of stone into silicone and start making rings of solar panels around your latitude lines - which also makes for convenient power hoookups whenever you add to your factory. Those should hold you until you get fusion power, solar sails, and antimatter. Save the oil! It's a limited resource just like iron, copper and coal. This isn't Satisfactory where everything is infinite :)

Oil never entirely runs out, unlike the other resources. It just gets slower and slower to extract.

@@Mirality True, it reduces down as low as 0.1/min if I recall ... which won't feed any meaningful build without adding to it from elsewhere. At that rate it will take one seep 4 minutes to trigger one cycle of refinement IIRC..... which might as well be none at all.
