First Train, Restored Rail Service To Grain Elevator, Cincinnati East Terminal Ry, Throwback Video!
Ойын-сауық
Trains return! Trains are coming back and this is the first train! Rare video with some CCET Ry scenes that I never posted. Cincinnati East Terminal Railway returns the SW9 switcher to the grain elevator in Winchester Ohio in this video. The grain company bought this switcher from National Railroad Equipment NRE. After almost a year without any rail service, Norfolk Southern leased this part of the line to CCET to access the grain elevator and for car storage. This video shows the first time CCET ran a train past Williamsburg. They dropped the SW9 off on the grain elevator spur and continued lite to Seaman Ohio and then returned westbound to Broadwell Rd near Newtown. As you can see in this video, they did not go very far on the grain elevator spur due to the rails starting to spread. They went almost the full length of their lease running lite before returning to Newtown. I filmed this March 20, 2015. Thanks for watching! Please comment, rate and subscribe to Jawtooth!

Well done. It's nice to see a line put back in service rather than being abandoned for good and ripped out.
When a line is taken out of service all the grade crossings with automatic protection are shut down commercial power is shut off so the railroad doesn't have to send a signal maintainer out to shut off/raise the gates which is an unnecessary expense when the line is embargoed. Short lines generally have only a few employees and at this point in the reopening of this line they simply hadn't gotten around to turning all the grade crossings back in service. As I've seen by newer videos of this mill they fixed the track to avoid wide gauge and reactivated the grade crossings. All in a day's work when reopening a embargoed rail line. They are doing it right by stopping and flagging each crossing and liberally using the horn as after two years of no trains they have to let people know the trains are back! Congratulations to the Cincinnati East Terminal Railroad at getting another new/old customer back.

We have a line in southwestern Ontario that was dormant for a few years and had the power to some of the crossings off and when the line started up again under a new name, they were turned back on. The one crossing I saw, they removed the gates, but once running again, they didn't reinstall them.
Gotta love short line railroads. So much character, so different. Class 1s are fine, but these are so much more interesting.
Nice video, great to see the old branches being revived and utilized; and love seeing the SW's working the industrial and agricultural facilities.
It makes me tear up to see an abandoned line come back to life.
My Grand Mother’s house had a railway track in her backyard! Separated by a waist high fence! Exciting plus!
I like the five gallon buckets on the stacks of the switcher. At least we know someone cares about rather than saying that's not my job like so many people do now days.
Interesting train story and video. • Cheers from The Detroit & Mackinac Railway 🚂
That Fouled Nathan P5 Horn sounds so beautiful
Good to hear it's back in service. Nicely captured!
One of those diesel units was from the Alaska RR.
I LOVE THE BIG TRAIN PULLING THE LITTLE SWITCHER TRAIN IN THE BACK OF IT 🚂🚂🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃 I LIKE THE VIDEO ROCK JAW TOOTH...

Nice throw back. Mind will be tomorrow sometime. In the mean while, Merry Christmas to you and everyone else
Excellent video and catch
Nice picture from underneath of the train.
Good video made with scenes you never posted before. I have a lot of Throwback material in my computers, too. I could post videos for almost six months using just the old material (usually not more than a year old). Thakns for these views of trains and nice town landscapes, too. Merry Christmas!

I love the sound of the bell (would you call it a bell) but a cool train :) thumbs up x
Haha Mountain Dew!! These were Awesome Jaw Tooth! Have a wonderful Christmas tomorrow!! Fun Intro Great Outro!! :) :)
Excellent video =)
Nice video!
They probably had to slap a few gauge bars on there until they could get a few new ties under the grain spur. It's not a difficult fix, but it has to be done now and then.
This is one of my favorites
he sure knows how to do a shave and a haircut with a train horn :)
Hey Jaw Tooth it's been awhile. Nice video, and I am wishing you and your family a very Merry Christmas!! - Nick Walters

Nice one
the horn at the end
nice-I watched all and i put a like on this too
I love that shot at the Elk Run Trestle at 8:46
Restore all abandoned rail lines! Each car on a freight train his one less truck on our highways!!
Seen another railroads utility pole with the climbing pegs a thing of the past seen more. They have trucks with booms to reach up there now..
Glad they reopened the line.
Love the gyro light on the locomotive. =^.^=
Nice to see one crossing signal working @ 10:00
Nice vid. Good to see a line not abandoned. That blue and yellow unit looks like an ex Alaska railroad unit. A geep 60 perhaps???
Merry Christmas Jawtooth and happy New Year.

what will the switcher be used for? and did they repair the rail and make the delivery
I hope I marked like I ment too thanks Dave

at the first 2 crossings, it looks like the same tan 4 door car slams on their brakes when they see the train coming.
It's funny how big those switcher engines looked through a childs eyes lol

Awesome video. Thank you. Thumbs up ... Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 2017
I saw CITIRAIL in Verona KY
You need to get an “agent” “ Mr. Tooth! Your getting plenty of exposure - and seem comfortable in front of the camera!
Why did the CCET get rid of the ex-Alaska GP49 locomotives anyways? I know there weren't many built and they aren't super powerhouses but they are still quite reliable.
Is that the old NREX 162 that was used at the Winchester elevator years ago? I shot it when it was still faded sky blue, but I thought it was shipped out (back to NRE maybe?). Where was the switcher parked in the interim?
Dang, finally at the 10:00 mark, some signals that work
Nice. Happy 2017!!

Any update videos with signal crossings working properly? 🚂
Nice SW1500
Why Where Every Railroad Crossing In The Video Not Working Was It A Malfuntion Or Was Power Out
I would think it would not be legal to operate on the tracks with all the signals down. Its dangerous. Hell people drive through them when they ARE working. Nice vid. :P
This is an old video, but I really enjoyed it. I hope that line is sill running.

@@JawTooth I'll keep my fingers crossed more of it comes back. We were in danger of losing the former Lackawanna in PA between Slateford nad Scranton for many years after Contrial but Delaware Lackawanna breathed new life into it but it did get single tracked with no signalling. There was a beautiful Union Switch & Signal system in place, but that's gone. Unfortunately we lost the NJ cut-off. Now a portion of that is supposed to come back but it's taking a long time.
hello brian, i said i saw CitiRail Leading a CSX intermodal in verona ky
Question: Isn't this the same line you filmed on where the train had to pull out a mess of tank cars to get at one lone car??? If so, I thought the crossing protection worked back then. What happened to the crossing protection? (assuming again this is the same line as previously mentioned)
What happened to the crossing? They didn't light up or gates went down
This is a prime example of me liking our Canadian rules in a case like this. You don't have to blow the horn in Canada if a crossing is being flagged.

They don't in the US either. From what I saw in other comments, they most likely honked so that people in the towns could get back into the groove of trains coming through.

@@kyleb06 the US rule book I'm familiar with absolutely says you have to blow the horn while flagging a crossing.
Great video Brian! Is that track still in use today (for storing railcars) ? May you and the Tooth Family have a Merry Christmas!!! - Balerio
Oh my gosh! This is a drop dead awesome video! I'll add a link to it from my www.alaskarails.org website. I always keep track of the ladies who graced the Alaska Railroad. Thanks so much for sharing this video!
nice P3 on that unit
almost looks like an old Cleveland Electric Gp-38.
Merry Christmas jaw
For a line that's been out of service a while they're moving right along. The tracks are still in good shape. At 5:03 you can see how shiny the rails became once the locomotives went under the bridge. Do the grade crossing gates work now?
@JawTooth
4 жыл бұрын
They have them working up to Seaman, Ohio at mp 62. This summer they might get the trains running to Plum Run just past Peebles up to mp 78.445. They want to start hauling gravel out of the quarry

Cool! And did you ever see CCET's new SD45 and rc caboose yet?
Are the crossing signals turned off or do they need major work
mount and do nice ;-) getter dunn.
weren't a lot of the crossings disconnected???
So why are all the crossing warnings INOP?
What are the reporting marks and number for the grain elevator locomotive.
@JawTooth

NRE 162. That stands for National Railway Equipment. They deal in locomotives in Illinois. The grain elevator company, Winchester Ag Incorporated, bought this SW9 that they had been leasing from NRE. Thanks for watching my videos! I have a ton with the SW9 and CCET
Awesome even if it was back to the house. whats the problem with the crossing gates? what no signal working?
@JawTooth

They hadn't got the signals working since they reactivated this part of the line
The railroad officials need to get the first two signals fixed-neither one are working. Better make it three & counting.
