Anyone else out there feel like "PLEASE!!" Is Kat's catchphrase and it's the most glorious reaction each and every time 😄
You can't not watch Evil Dead 2 now. As good as this movie is, the contrast between Sam Raimi's directing with no budget vs his directing with some budget is legitimately insane. As a sequel, it's comparable to Terminator 2.

I actually prefer the first as a horror just because it’s played mostly straight, but I still love 2. This one scared the crap out of me as a kid. Oddly enough AoD is my least favorite even though I see most fans say it’s their favorite.

@@Wraiven22 I believe 2 is better “overall”. But I’m with u on Army of Darkness. I remember getting people all hyped to see it in theaters, and I can admit, it was a bit of a let down. The Series is dope tho. Especially the later seasons.
"Nothing bad is going to happen to Bruce" - Fun fact: Director Sam Raimi's main focus in each of his films starring Bruce Campbell or where he has a cameo (there are a lot), is how to make bad things happen to Bruce.

All three are very different movies, and Evil Dead is the most horror, the second is very much a horror comedy, and Army of Darkness is a Comedy with horror elements. Everyone has their favorites, both in tone and effects. Just expect everything to be different with each entry. Aside from Bruce, he's a constant.
I just found your channel, and I just love it. It's rare to find someone who hasn't seen a horror movie and watch their genuine reaction. ❤
This film was banned in the UK. The Evil Dead was one of the first films deemed a 'Video nasty' - the term for films criticized for their violent content by the press, commentators, police and Trading Standards authorities, some religious leaders and 'pro-family' activists such as Mary Whitehouse. Despite eventually being removed from the list of Video Nasties, the film was still postponed being released until 1990. Great reaction Kat! :)

The Evil Dead series becomes increasingly fun as the movies go on and the budgets get better. Getting paid to torture and abuse Bruce Campbell on film is Sam Raimi's favorite past time and it really shows in his ED films 🤣🤣🤣 And, to a lesser degree, his little brother Ted too (Ted plays the fake Shemp here)
The score and sound design and use of silence for this film is brilliantly evocative. "That's it, they're officially broken up." Hilarious. You Def need to watch the rest.
Kat making horror movies extra fun for us while she's being shit scared, what a trooper!
I'm glad you enjoyed it, this is definitely an influence on most horror.
If you ever get to see an interview with clips of Sam and Bruce talking about the making of this, amazing. The camera tied to a bicycle for the moving POV scenes, how film students begin their journey
Only word I can think of while waiting for a new KAT reaction is....PLEASE!!!

Sweet! Such a young Bruce Campbell--'The Chin' is born! I think Kat did more horror coaching here than usual since 'Evil Dead' was a relatively early work for Campbell and Raimi. :-)
The house didn't have a basement so they had to tear up the floorboards and dig a pit in the ground. Some years after the cabin was burned down and all that remains is a chimney.
Evil Dead 2 is the real gem of the Evil Dead Trilogy (and in my opinion it is easily one of the greatest horror films that's ever been made). It's not exactly a sequel to the original, it's more of a retelling of the first film with more practical effects, a greater storyline, characters, and is the film were Ash( the main character) gets his now iconic chainsaw hand. It's a true classic in every sense of the word.👍
Kat! Kat! Kat...I feel like we were both somewhat bamboozled. Evil Dead seemed like such a benign title. Another fantastic reaction, chock full of memorable lines like...look at his leg, that's an infection or and we never saw her again or (my personal favorite) it's just a butcher room, every cabin has one. You are truly one of a kind and make Wednesdays great again. Looking forward to the next one. Have a FANTASTIC Thanksgiving.

Fun fact... There is a theater musical of this now, which when put on often has an audience splash zone.
this film has a low budget, campy charm. couple that with some very inventive camera work and sound design and truly scary scenes makes it a movie lovers delight and a cult classic.
You obviously love Bruce. You must watch "Bubba Ho-Tep" if you haven't already. Bruce plays Elvis, who has to protect an old folks home from a southern-fried soul sucking mummy. Oh, and Ossie Davis plays JFK. It's even more bonkers than it sounds and so much fun. Directed by Don Coscarelli (Phantasm) and based on a story by Joe R. Lansdale.
I love her “PLEASE!” every now and then 😂
Hiya Kat ☺️ and let me wish you and yours and everyone that watches the channel a very happy Thanksgiving if you celebrate it. This is a great film. It’s another one of those young unknown directors (at the time), hungry, eager, young actors, practically no money to make, horror films that just is always golden. It’s that lovely gorilla style of shooting and using every trick in the book to make it all work and you are right Kat, films like these are borrowed from heavily by other directors, absolutely. Anyways another fabulous reaction Kat and these uploads and the channel are awesome to watch ☺️👍🏼

@9:30 Groot's Origin Story?!! 😦😱
"You bastards, why are you torturing me like this? Why?" Fun Fact: At the end of principal shooting in Tennessee, the crew put together a little time capsule package and buried it inside the fire place of the cabin as a memento of the production to whomever found it. The cabin has since been destroyed and only the fireplace is still intact. Make Your Own Blood Fact: The blood is a combination of Karo syrup, non-dairy creamer, and red food coloring. At one point, Bruce Campbell's shirt that he wears in the film was so saturated with the fake blood that after drying it by the fire, the shirt became solidified and broke when he tried to put it on. Location Location Fact: Filmed in a real-life abandoned cabin. The property's owner granted the production crew to lease the cabin, under the condition that any modifications made for filming were to be undone. The crew kept their promise, and the only thing that remained in the cabin was the fireplace that was specifically built for the film.

Just adding my voice to the chorus of you have to watch number 2. As others have said, it's sort of a remake. They had to sell the rights to the first film to get it distributed, so the first act of 2 is a cut down retelling of the first movie featuring only Ash and Linda. The scene where the evil comes for Ash at the end is where the new movie really starts.
I swear everytime I watch one of your reactions I half expect you to just take flight and flap away cawing "nah nah nah nah". :) Heart you.
Ah, the rare reaction channel that doesn't skip the first film. For all the OTT fun and slapstick Part 2 has on offer, the pure horror, slow build-up and the authenticity of the first (real cabin, real winter) can't be beat.
"We can't bury Shelly, she's a friend of ours!"
“Nothing bad is going to happen to Bruce!” … oh no… He has a very easy time. 😜
My favorite review of Evil Dead ever... "What an evening!"
"Nah, nah!" love it when you say that in your reactions. A unique little thing you do lol.
Yes!! Now watch the second one because it's the ultimate horror comedy and Miami's best work (IMHO). This first one is more akin to a straight horror, with the gore and jump-scares designed to actually upset you. Loved your reaction, as always. Trust us, the nest installment will be more..groovy.

Hi Kat!🙂Great reactions to the original Evil Dead film!!!🎬👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽Yeah, Bruce Campbell is awesome! A horror film rarely reacted to as it was unavailable on media for many years is: "Slither" (2006). It was James Gunn's directorial debut with an 80's horror film feel to it. "The Cabin in the Woods" (2012) is not your typical, well, cabin in the woods film.🙂
When Bruce is looking for Scotty under the cabin, isn't that the most sorry-ass lantern you have ever seen???!!! 😄 Can it light ANYTHING around it???
I love your rating system, please don't ever change. lol
Hope you check out the sequels Evil dead 1981 is horror Evil dead 2 is horror comedy Army of Darkness is action comedy horror and in that part the character of Ash Williams is complete. It has the best one liners from Ash Williams.
“That’s a lot of jaw,” is the best description for this film. “I’m never having breakfast again,” is better.
Here in the UK "The Evil Dead" was classified as a "Video Nasty" and Rental stores were BANNED from stocking it! Some of the smaller stores did keep a copy or two under the counter for special customers but faced large fines if they were caught. Today, this movie is more of a disgusting comedy than horrifying but at the time it was worse than even "Zombie Flesh Eaters" imho.
The Coen Brothers were part of Raimi's early film crew. You can see some of Raimi's unusual camera movement later used by them in Raising Arizona.
Subbed, you're gonna love the second one! It's 200% over the top Bruce goodness and hella funny :)
Your reactions are a lot of fun - especially the "nah"s. The tree scene is quite memorable in this film, but I'd like to know if it is more or less shocking than a certain scene in "Re-Animator" (1985)?
Your are some of the best reaction videos for all these old horror movies!
The making of this film is LEGENDARY. It took three months of crazy filming in the frigid weather of the Tennessee winter. They didn't have heat, plumbing or electricity. (They brought electricity in, but nothing else.) The actors themselves had to clean six inches of manure out of the cabin because animals had been wandering around in it. The actor playing Bruce's sister had her head bashed against the floor multiple time when they threw her and missed the hole to the basement, they were being watched from the hills and had all their tools stolen, the blood dried so hard on them that they walked into the shower fully dressed to wash it off... There was even a point where one morning, arriving at the cabin, where Sam Raimi had spent the night to keep more tools from being stolen, Bruce ran into a local hunter with a huge shotgun and thought the guy had just killed Sam and now was going to kill him. I recommend the 2021 'Making of' commentary by Bruce Campbell where he goes into all the detail. One insane thing happened after another for the whole shoot, it is literally unbelievable how much stuff went wrong.
30:00 Fun fact that scene with blood rushing out of pipes and power socket. That was Sam Raimi's horror homage to the Three Stooges Short "A Pluming we will Go." Because Sam was and still is a big Three Stooges fan. There's another one in Evil Dead 2. And plenty in the third film of the trilogy Army of Darkness.

It's also paying homage to, one of the film's investors, I believe, who advised them to "keep the blood running down the screen" And that scene shows, indeed, blood running down a movie screen.
The 2013 remake of this movie, "Evil Dead" is pretty darn sick. Obviously much better special effects. It doesn't disappoint as a reboot.

Best KatComment: "What an Evening...."
For a fledgling director's second feature film, there is so much promise and potential in The Evil Dead that it's kind of astonishing. When we consider camera work, compositions, lighting, voice work, editing, and such ... it's all so good. We've got a good hero (for the most part), and a fascinating music score by Joseph LoDuca. Now, mind you, the gore gets to me a little because it often seems relentless, but I have to forgive that because everything else is super for the most part. Ash is one of my favorite horror characters. I feel so bad for him in this film. He just needs some peace and quiet, and a nice warm bath, maybe a hug ... Wouldn't that be nice. LOL. Yeah, I had a little crush. First saw this on a VHS cassette in college. There are lots of impressive and interesting touches, like the exterior night shot of the cabin with the full moon above which gets obscured by a blossoming bit of dark liquid.

Hello, Kat! Love this channel. This reminded me of another cheesy scary movie, _Galaxy of Terror._ It’s a lot of fun, plenty of jump scares, practical effects and kooky characters. It does have a scene like the attack in the woods, except it involves a giant, horrible, gooey monster bug. The poor girl is killed but...well, I don’t want to spoil it for you if you ever decide to see it. It’s one of Roger Corman’s 1970s horror rip-offs. _Forbidden World_ and _Galaxy of Terror_ are _Alien_ rip-offs. Then there was _Humanoids from the Deep_ (sometimes called _Monster_ ) and _Piranha,_ both _Jaws_ rip-offs. _Piranha_ is a lot of fun, too, from the director of _Gremlins,_ Joe Dante.
This movie was filmed in true renegade-style, with a crew of 13 people in the remote thicket of Tennessee. with the entire crew also using the cabin to sleep, only adding to the hardship of the very rough shoot...
As a child, when deep woods camping with my family, I often liked to decompress in the butcher room. (Because every cabin has one)
“The return trip is gonna be less than ideal.” Haha… return trip… sure!
A friend of mine noted I like Reaction videos, and recommended, "You should check out. . . . oh, what's her name? The Nah Nah girl? Plays drums when she's nervous or frightened? " I asked, 'What? Plays drums?' "Yeah. She tenses up, makes fists like she's holding drumsticks, then she. . . .plays the drums." 'OK. You're high. Go away.
