honey is antibacterial and antimicrobial. its perfect for cleansing wounds while cauterizing them at the same time, so long as its pure raw and organic. its also, when put onto a warm damp face cloth, perfect to calm down asthma attacks while you look for your inhaler.

The Equalizer was based off a tv show from the 80's. There's a reboot series staring Queen Latifah going into it's 3 season on CBS, her character name is Robyn McCall.

Susan is the name of the woman talking to him about Vivian. Susan's husband is the dude who said he had a nice funeral. Vivian was Robert's wife.

Teddy also didn't try to take out Robert in the hallway because he was aware that whoever killed Slavi and his crew was not someone he could easily take alone. He even mentioned not seeing skills like that before. Robert basically told him he knew he wasn't a cop and as Teddy came back up the stairs, Robert actually met him right at the head of the stairs instead of backing up. That's a tactically advantageous position. Teddy wanted info and additional help. Great reaction!

Not only that, Teddy / Nicolai still did not know who was behind all of that. Robert may just be someone like himself who's doing his "job". So taking him out wasn't really the priority. At the diner they tried to capture him for investigation but of course they didn't get him. Even up to the last moment Teddy didn't know who Robert was or for whom he's working for. They still assumed some kind of rival. The actual "trivial" reason never even came to their minds. They are businessmen and all they can think of is business. They can't even imagine someone did this out of empathy on his own.

Susan was Robert's coworker in Black Ops (it is strongly hinted he was a CIA assassin), when his wife Vivian was dying of an unnamed ailment McCall promised her he would leave that life so he faked his own death to spend her last days with her. The story hints that the two couples were friends as happens with people who are in secret ops because no one else knows what it's like to married to someone in covert ops. So Rober went to Susan for info but also to find out if she thought his dead wife would approve of him breaking his promise to help people that no one else could. Context clues hint that Robert is on the spectrum and does not understand certain social cues and contexts so he needed Suan to act as his conscious. He may even be the Hollywood version of a borderline sociopath who was, tapped to be an assassin because he doesn't feel remorse or guilt (or any emotion) as strongly as other people.

The creative use of the corkscrew is a callback to the 1985 TV show where that version of Robert also used one in the pilot. (I loved that series, and these movies are a good, if more violent, take on the idea.)

The title and that online ad shown in the last scene ("Are you in trouble? Are the odds against you?") are a direct reference to the mid-80s TV-series of the same name. The second movie gives more background info on him and who he was before his faked death. And if you like to see Denzel Washington in another movie with a somewhat similar vibe, you should watch Man on Fire.

Captures the spirit of the original 1980s TV series perfectly. Completely different actor, but exact same premise - former superspy using his ..... special skillset to help people in trouble. Almost always the same start - he would openly approach the bad guys, offer some kind of peaceful resolution. Then, when the bad guys inevitably refused, he would start dismantling their entire operation - as put so well in this movie, "... dollar by dollar, brick by brick, body by body ...".

  • @anonymous19844

SCREAM QUEENS: Good reaction video. You missed a couple of things: What made this movie less of a cliche was all the unique ways Robert killed the bad guys - barbed wire, electric drill, nail gun, electrocution, etc. Also, the movie made you use your imagination for some of his killings - the guy who robbed Home Mart he killed with the hammer & Pushkin's guards, made it a little different than your typical similar storyline. One more thing: In the beginning, Robert told his co-workers he was a "Pip," one of the backup singers for singer Gladys Knight. She had a weekly musical TV show a few years back. Then, later in the movie, when Robert turns on the music in Home Mart to confront the bad guys, I think the music is a recording of Gladys Knight.

The city that looks familiar is my hometown - East Boston. That is the Mystic River Bridge facing Charlestown, and the small convenience store on the corner was owned by the Mario family in the 60's & 70's. Chelsea is the town over the smaller Meridian St. Bridge which is where the late night restaurant is located, and where the fire was set in Ralphie's mom's taco place,. That exact spot had two other movies filmed over the years. Blown Away & Mystic River. Chelsea is famous for one of the biggest fires ever in the USA. Blocks upon block were incinerated back in 1973. Oh, David Harbour get's a B+ on his Boston Accent! Great reaction BTW!

Your leg has the largest artery in the body other than the heart itself - just another of many reasons why "They should shoot them in the leg" is an ignorant take on police activity.

Vivian was Robert's wife. When she was dying, he made a promise to her to forsake his life of killing. He was a CIA assassin. After Vivian died, Robert faked his death from a car bomb. He created a fake life working at a home improvement store as a nobody. Then.....the events of Equalizer 1. It didn't seem that difficult to decipher the first time I watched the movie. Granted, I'm on the spectrum, so my brain works a bit differently.

The Vory V. Zakone. Thieves in law. The Russian organised crime. I'm not sure there's alot of them left. There was a time in Russia when tattoos were used in the criminal world as a ranking system and also a way for others to understand your criminal career. Each tattoo had it's significance and the shoulders was reserved for ranks. Those who had those tattoos had to follow a strict set of rules. For example, they couldn't have a family, they had no property, no house, no address. They had to participate to the "Abkash". Their own banking system, to support their international criminal empire. Nowadays, those tattoos don't really mean anything anymore. Unless you see them on an old man... I don't think they're relevent anymore. One thing is for sure... there was a time when these tattoos were reserved for people rooted in evil. They had alot of power in the gulags/prisons.

The scene at the end where Robert is at the beach looking out at the ocean is a callback to the book he was reading "The Old Man and the Sea". When he explains it to Alina, he says "the old man is the old man ~ you have to be who you are in this world" (something like that). In the end Robert realizes who he is and accepts it.
