A big thing a lot of newer riders don’t know yet, which is crucial is “ ride your own ride”. This means go the speed you are comfortable with, not the speed of other riders, especially cars! Do Not aloe anyone to force you into a turn or corner too fast! I say this as a fellow rider who made this mistake myself and ended up high siding, luckily I was wearing full gear… Seriously, make the world wait if you have to, go as slow as you have around those turns until you’re 100% you got this. And make sure you get some frame sliders they protect more then just your bike! Motojitsu and adobo moto are some good channels to watch. You got this man, ride safe, and have fun

Sorry but this falls on deaf ears to the folks who think zx6r is good first bike. New rider first time rider should not be on street on anything. 40 plus yrs riding, if you start ypur bike riding on street your odds of major crash injury and death are way higher than someone who learned in dirt. Dirt bikes lighter less powerful much easier to control. No cards rails walls to kill you. When riding becomes instinct then you are ready for road. Lost 3 friends in hogh school and rightvafter cause their first riding was on street and it killed them. All 3 made rookie mistakes and on roads in traffic the first mistake can be deadly and your last. I.made same ones but in dirt where odds are 1000% better of living through said mistake

Make sure you’re releasing the throttle when you pull in the clutch and give it gas when you release the clutch. Only when you’re starting from 1st gear do you give it some gas while releasing the clutch so you don’t stall. Keep practicing, you’ll get better at it. Eventually you won’t fear going out in traffic and you will start to enjoy your rides more. Nice starter bike, by the way.

I picked up my Kawasaki Z900RS Cafe last month, only have a permit and rode it dirty home! I'm 58 and I agree with you, the slow manuevers are a pain.

Yeah buddy you need to give it some rpm and it will help your shifts and other things! You don't have to give it a lot but sixth gear at fifty miles an hr, I'm surprised the bike is still running. Lol you will get it the more you ride, don't be scared of the throttle but keep respect and thank you for posting, I love your bike and can't wait to see to progress!

shifting to early might be a reason but practice and practice then one day youll come back to look at this video and see your progression. we as riders have all been there.

Once u get out of 1st into 2nd I found blipping to shift the rest of my gear is easier, also I’d learn rev matching which can make down shifting much much easier. it’s the first thing I train myself when first starting out.

I'm here saving to buy my bike been doing lil practicing on my friends r3 still working on my friction zone lol but I knw how to shift gears n downshifting it's jus the releasing of the clutch to get the friction zone is my lil weakness but I'm working on it so by time I finish save I will b ready

Watch a bunch of KZread vids of people that own your bike . Watch how they shift and stuff. Helps a lot too.

This is gonna be me next month pretty nervous, got the msg scheduled for early next month and was looking at a zx6r too!

Get out of the habit of rolling stops, intersections are where all the bad stuff happens.

I have the same bike. 2023 6r. Been riding for 4 yrs. Started on an R3. Just got the 6r in October. Ist to 2nd is jerky even when you do it right. Turn the quickshifter on and u don't have to use the clutch on the upshuft. Just keep the throttle open and shift up. The down side is u wont learn how to shift properly using the clutch. Down shifting is just practice. Just match ur rpm's to ur mph. 20mph 2nd gear. 30 mph 3rd, an so on. Same thing when ur slowing down. Dont stay in 5th if ur going 20mph. Practice practice...

QS is up only.. U still have to downshift as normal

And when your down shifting don’t be scared to have high rpm’s either . These bikes are meant to be at max rpm’s . Down shifting you shouldn’t even have to touch the gas just clutch in downshift and let out the clutch lever .

So if you were uncomfortable when you were at the dealer, why not a 650 or 400? Im all for ride your own ride, but common sense would say get a bike your comfortable on to learn. Better to ride a slow bike fast than a fast bike slow

When shifting u don’t need the clutch only downshifting

Starting on a 600 is doable but personally I highly suggest starting with at least a 2-250cc. I started on a 125-400-636cc. Ride safe!

No one starts on 250s with all the beginner bikes out now.

And on your bike you have the quick shifter when shifting UP. But u need to be in high rpm’s for it to be smooth . So when your going fast and ready to upshift all u need to do is click your foot shifter up. Don’t need to touch your clutch lever

@@TheEffectionable haha yea the zx10r has quick shifter and auto blip down shift but the zx6r only has quick up shifter . Try it out man . Rev it out and upshift quick . No need for the lever . But at low rpm it’s rough. So don’t do it if your going slow.

try not closing your throttle all the way when your shifting from 1st to 2nd

Any advice on not to damage your engine? Lmk yall!

you need to break in the bike first guy make sure keep rpm low during break in perod on the new engine. Im sure there is video on ths some where.

And don’t slow down between each gear shift

For your own safety go to a harley dealership and take their riders course.

It’s all about the rider in my opinion. No matter what bike you start on you can get hurt really bad.

Never 2nd gear to 1st, while slowing down. ALWAYS Throttle off, Clutch in, when Çhanging gears..March 19 no bike Kawasaki, for 27 years, got a 05 GSF BANDIT 650 inj,. Wow W,T.F,F., at least 58, 59 times more biking joy, than in 84 my nearly new Kawa.750 turbo. 20, 21 months of Blessed Bandit Time, Times, got a PhD Masters Degree, in Bandit Torque Enjoyment only nothing technical, Sadly now a HOPEFULLY only, semi retired Crazy Mad Banditateer, fekkin Banditless Banditaholic, ruined for any other bike, and I ain't even lying.
