Actually the Spiral Out saying is reference to the Golden Spiral denoted in the Fibonacci sequencing of number which is expressed in quarter circle arcs in squares. Danny and Maynard but more specifically Danny believe heavily on numerical properties and compositions which is life. Sounds kookie but that belief in numbers is the main reason Danny can do on drums what other great drummers can’t. And that is why he can use 4 limbs simultaneously to create 4 different beats and rhythms. Spiral Out 🤘🏾

As others have said, 46 & 2 is a reference to the number of chromosomes humans have... However, it's simply a metaphor for spiritual growth... Gaining two extra chromosomes would, in reality, most likely be pretty bad. Welcome to this particular musical rabbit hole, I've been a Tool fan since I was 18, and I'm 46 now, and I've learned so much about myself from this bands music, and the paths I've chosen to find myself happily content with my life have been deeply influenced by Tool... I would wholeheartedly recommend the song Parabol/Parabola - which has an amazing video - to react to next ☺️ That, in my opinion, is their greatest video. @@dannyberry8725 Not true. There are genetic conditions where someone has either too many or two few chromosomes, which is called aneuploidy. There are two common types of aneuploidy: monosomy and trisomy. People with monosomy are missing a chromosome. So, for a particular chromosome, only one is present instead of two. People with trisomy have an extra copy of one of their chromosomes. People with aneuploidy do not inherit the condition from their parents. The parents have a full set of chromosomes, but the chromosomes are unevenly distributed to their children. Down syndrome is probably the most well known form of aneuploidy, affecting trisomy 21. The idea that there are indigenous tribes with fewer chromosomes is bunk - at best - and potentially racist. Having 48 chromosomes usually presents as 48,XXXY syndrome. and is a chromosomal condition in boys and men that causes intellectual disability, developmental delays, physical differences, and an inability to father biological children. There are zero trustworthy sources to support the idea that tribal people only have 44 chromosomes.

She said something very interesting about following. Years ago, I attended a music college. Besides performing, they taught me about music theory and composition. Then I went to a concert (I think it was Mozart) and I could recognize some of the components of the composition. By the way, those classical composers were little rebels too. They broke every rule of composition and still managed to create magnificent music. Imagine my surprise when I went to a Tool concert and heard 46 and 2 for the first. I couldn't follow anything. I couldn't recognize anything. It was all over the place. And yet, it all came together, somehow. That's what is so special about Tool. 46 and 2. Schism. Pneuma. 7empest. Invincible. Just an absolutely powerful work of art. .... Now that I am older, I am in a place where I am comfortable with who I am and what my life consists of. One day at work I wanted to listen to something a bit different so I was inspired to listen to Tool's albums end-to-end (which is how I tend to consume all my music). I'm not trying to be a dick, but as a musician that covers Tool, I can tell you that it is one thing to sit in your room and learn some riffs, and quite a whole different experience and level to put that together with the other band members and perform it Live. I play the bass and sing at the same time, you can probably imagine how difficult Tool"s music is to pull off with 3 people. I have personally never seen any other band on the planet attempt their music with 3 people, it just doesn't happen, and it is for a reason.

Everyone who hates Tool says it sounds the same, but if you listen to each album,, there is absolutely no way a person can say the albums all sound the same. Does the music sound like Tool?Of course, its supposed to, they put their legacy and stamp on that s...t. Does Ed Sheeran sound like himself, of course, did Michael Jackson and Prince sound like themselves. It's so ridiculous when they say that, and they listen to Green Day (no disrespect but Green Day is horrible) and they don't hold their favorite bands to the same standard. It's that they can't play it that's why. They wouldn't know where to begin to even attempt to Play Tool, they think they play 1 riff or 2 here and there and think Tool is simple music or sounds the same, but they don't even have the balls to play it Live and even try to find a singer that can attempt his vocal delivery.

The live version of "Sober" should definitely be your next one. Great performance and it's the only video with quality you'll find of them performing live (except "Pneuma" which you already reacted to and it's just focused on Danny). Apart from that never check out their videos on a first listen. They are utterly amazing and all of them were directed by Adam Jones, Tool's guitar player, who used to work in Hollywood as a special effects artist for big blockbuster movies (Terminator 2, Jurassic Park, etc.), but they're so distracting that it will most likely make you lose focus of the music. You should check their videos on your own free time once you've already listened to the song, unless you wanna do double reactions, first checking out the song and then checking out the video, but that will make some pretty long videos, since their songs range usually from 6min to 12min.

You got it right! It is about human evolution or rebirth as you say - I've found this great explanation of lyrics: Basically, it's believed that there are three levels of human evolution and each has it's form of conciousness. There's the 1st level with 44 chromosones. These are primitve people's like the aboriginies in Australia who do not percieve anything outside of themselves. They only see one large conciousness with no distinguishment between organisms. Then there's the second level with 46 chromosones. That is us. We are a chaotic disharmonic conciousness that is basically used as a stepping stone between the first and third levels. The third level is 48 chromosones. (Or 46 & 2, with 2 being the sex chromosones x & y). This is the higher level of conciousness. Our destination. But this is where the Jungian theory comes in. It is believed that you can not reach this third level of evolution without first delving into yourself and basically cleansing your conciousness for the next jump. That's where the Shadow comes in. The shadow is basically everything about that is unseen that you are uncomfortable with or hate. This is also known as the Anima

Australian aboriginal people have the same number of chromosomes as every other human (44 & 2). I realize you are quoting so you have my respect. The concept for the song comes from Drunvalo Melchizedek and it's wrong. The number of chromosomes in a species does not determine it's place in evolution or spiritual enlightenment, Chimpanzees have 48, lobsters have 136, some rats have 102 and one type of fern has 1440. It's true that indigenous Australians had been living in isolation for more than 50,000 years but they don't have fewer chromosomes. Also, the spiritual history of aboriginal culture, known collectively as The Dream Time is rich and interesting, much of it contains sacred knowledge that only selected elders are allowed to know. There is nothing to suggest they lack perception of anything outside of themselves, it's a false idea from Melchizedek. Just like every other Tool fan I have learned about the Sacred Geometry, Carl Jung, Merkaba, and the Christ Conscience, I get it. Anyway, it's an interesting concept for an amazing song. Peace and love.

Literally zero evidence number of sex chromosomes has anything to do with levels of consciousness or awareness, that’s just some weird new age idea. Pretty sure there’s a species of immortal jellyfish that reproduces asexually and yes is physically immortal, that has like thousands of sex chromosomes. No humans have different number of chromosomes (it’s sort of how you define what’s human) with exceptions for genetic conditions like Down syndrome and a few others and those are generally small anomalies in like one chromosome, not actually Extra chromosomes. Anything beyond that you’d be talking about another species, biology doesn’t really work that drastically when it comes to reproductive genetics. Be careful sometimes of the sources of this kind of info, some just snake oil nonsense, but some of it comes from genuinely terrible places and people that seek to justify some horrendous things humans have perpetrated throughout history. A lot of the critical gender and race theory stuff comes for some of these same bad actors in history ; and to be specific yes I’m pointing a finger at Germany and Russia
