This is the cover I rate every other cover song to. He put his own absolutely incredible, beautiful & heart wrenching twist on it. And I completely agree, Chris had one of the best voices, ever.

Such an incredible cover. Michael’s version feels more like a dance song; you catch the words and get the gist of the song, but it doesn’t feel emotionally heavy. Chris’s cover makes you hang on every word and feel the emotion of the conflict and the impassioned delivery. To see Chris perform this song on his solo tours was always profound. Except for a few “woo hoos” being yelled by drunk idiots who don’t know how to appreciate a quiet moment, you could hear a pin drop. RIP to the legend.

He also has a phenomenal cover of “ Bob Marley’s - Redemption Song “ as well. You should do that next. Than his “ One “ song mash up of U2 / Metallica

Everyone suggests the cover of “ Nothing compares to you “ but they all overlook his live acoustic version of “Fell on black days”

He Created Temple of the Dog to make one album dedicated to his friend Andrew Wood, Eddie Vedder was also on the Album "Hunger Strike" was really good.

Amazing. Please check his 2010 live performance of When I'm Down. It's unbelievable

As another reviewer said. You could imagine this is the original Billie Jean and MJ just made a pop cover over it. MJ made you dance to it, Cornell makes you feel it.

Covering Michael Jackson is like covering Led Zeppelin. Ballsy as fuck, and brilliant to boot if you are as good as Chris to make it your own. By the way, Chris covers Led Zeppelin's Thank You, just to prove how great he was. Oh, and just to top it off he decided to cover Nothing compares to you after Sinead did a cover and made it her own. Oh and while he was at it he covered Bob Marley's Redemption Song and also figured i might as well cover The Beatles as well, not once but twice. Genius!

Oh, thank u M. U opened my eyes to beauty of this song. This version was not better than MJ’s, which is one of my top 10, but I listened to “it” instead of dancing to the beat.

That wasn't even his best cover of Billy Jean, he often played with the inflections while singing it live.

That was amazing!

There is another live version of him singing with just his guitar that I’m not fond of. My favorite is one that I feel’s the best version He’s at a concert performing on a large stage with his band and has short hair. Absolutely love this version! His version I feel is better than Angelina Jordan’s, but if you haven’t seen hers, you’ll probably enjoy that as well. She performs it with a jazz flare.
