He did attend music school which (from what I understood) had a profile in musical theatre, but absolutely no classical vocal training. His vocal teachers were apparently a book of vocal techniques and a radio

Tommy Johansson attended a 2-year music education at folk high school and was NOT trained in classical music. Tommy b wants to try to understand music as much as possible, how it is structured and how to make it sound a certain way. Here's how Tommy talks about Christmas music, for example: As for the Christmas mood, it's instruments and that the melody brings with it the chord change when the melody changes and also that the scale changes. Now we get into nerdery and the scales change from one chord to another and then find our way back to the original chord. It took a while to learn and to understand the music. From an interview: Sabaton toured together with Apocalyptica and that must have been a very interesting experience for you who like to analyze music? Did you learn anything from them? Yes, I really did. In that they are three cellists, one playing solo, one playing bass and another playing between them. It was often that I stood and looked at them to understand how they do it to sound so fat. One plays the bottom and then I noticed that when the other plays the melodies, I noticed that since each chord is made up of at least three notes, the third plays as one voice along with the melody. It's very interesting to listen to just him, it doesn't sound right at all, but when you add the bass and the melody, it sounds right. We even ran five songs together. This is how Tommy learns music and then sings opera and other musical styles. So Tommy himself develops his singing voice as well as various music changers. So what you say is NOT true and thus not true.. So you have to learn not to trust what others say but find things out yourself.

His last name is 3 syllables instead of 4. Jo-Han-Son. Or, since he's Swedish, the J sound can be a Y sound. So Yo-Han-Son

Tommy is just epic, loved him in Sabaton as the guitarist (He is an awesome guitarist but what a waste with that voice) then I found out about his own group Majestica and then of course his solo projects which he has more time for now after he left Sabaton.

It’s not maybe better than the original. The video you played of the original was live and amazing but he was in his,late thirties. Play the original video…..he was in his twenties and I seen them live…..the guy was a total off the chart freak of a voice. I was in shock….however this young man is amazing as well.
