In order to really appreciate what Post Modern Jukebox (PMJ) does, it helps to know what the original song is. Turning modern songs into a jazz/retro version with different amazing singers is such a delight to see. Haley Reinhart and Morgan James with PMJ tops the list of best songs with PMJ.

@@JeffTokayer Morgan James and Ariana Savalas have 9 videos each on PMJ. Morgan averaged about 12.7 million views per video whereas Ariana averaged 9.5 million views per video. However, 44 out of 85.4 million of Ariana's views did come on one video whereas Morgan's most watched video only garnered 30 million views. I guess I would have to concede that Ariana did have the most watched video of the two. But Haley Reinhart blows them both totally out of the water.

@@todradmaker4297 I just went with the popularity of PMJ’s catalog. It only shows that good voice is not all to be popular. As for Haley, don’t get me started. The title of the group when Haley sings should be Haley Reinhart and the PMJ’s. She catapulted the group to what it’s now.

Post Modern Jukebox, led by pianist Scott Bradlee, covers recent hits in styles reminiscent of 1940's swing music and earlier. They feature other singers besides Haley, but it is still worth going back on your own to see her original P.M.J. version of "Creep".

Haley's primary influence is the Beatles and Rock and Roll. Her whole family are Beatles fans, they used to attend the annual Beatlesfest in Chicago, (she still does now and again), but her parents raised her primarily on Rock of the '60's and 70's. Haley's Dad, Harry, has a wide range of influences and a well respected blues guitarist in the Chicago area and has been in a band w/ his wife, Haley's Mother, for over 40 years, "Midnight". It's said Harry used to scat call and response w/ Haley as a child before she knew how to talk. Haley started getting really into jazz when she joined her school's Jazz band and became their first Jazz vocalist, she eventually took them to perform at the Umbria and Montreaux Jazz Festivals. Haley has said her influences range from Doris Day, Dusty Springfield, Etta James, Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holliday, Janis Joplin, Stevie Nicks, Grace Slick, and even Marilyn Monroe (for her stage presence) Probably the best sounding recording of a Haley original is in this two part video, the first part, Haley covers Blind Faith's "Can't Find My Way Home", the 2nd part of the video, she performs her original song "Don't Know How To Love You" w/ her Dad on guitar: kzread.info/dash/bejne/oaGo1ap-o5XNYNo.html

PMJ is a musical collective from New York owned & run by musical director Scott Bradlee. Scott is the pianist in all the videos & he transforms today's hits, into yesterday's (vintage style covers). The musicians/singers who are at the top of their game from around the world are invited to perform sometimes for specific numbers created, or for world tour concerts. Vintage New Orleans Dirge is the style of this type of Jazz. Seven Nation Army by White Stripes (Rock Band/Duo from the late 90's)

Part of the fun in checking out PMJs covers is the way they reinvent popular songs into throw back styles. As such, it really enhances the experience if you are familiar with the original. If you haven't yet heard anything from the White Stripes, 7 Nation Army is definitely their best-known song, but they do several fantastic covers themselves, including a magnificent version of Dolly Parton's JOLENE.

Haley is a really awesome and multi-talented vocalist. The trombone player was using a specific type of mute that will change the sound, and they make similar mutes for trumpets as well. She did quite a lot of videos for PMJ, and they are all worth watching. You might enjoy the PMJ version of "All About the Bass" which features Haley, Morgan James, and Ariana Savalas as vocalists. You might also like the duet she sang with Morgan James called, "Dear Prudence." Morgan James is another powerhouse singer that worked with PMJ, and her cover of Aerosmith's "Dream On" is excellent. Ariana Savalas did quite a few songs with PMJ, mostly in a burlesque-ish jazz style, and her cover of Snoop Dog's "No Diggity" is definitely worth watching.

The title meant that they were doing the song in the the style of a New Orleans jazz funeral song - a dirge (rhymes with surge) is a song of lamentation or loss. PostModern Jukebox often changes the style of a song, like doing an 80s pop song like the Andrews Sisters would in the 40s. This is very different from the White Stripes original version, which you should now listen to. Haley Reinhart was on American idol, and yes she can sing anything; she did a great cover of "Creep" with PMJ. You probably heard her several years ago on a commercial for Extra Gum where she sang "I Can't Help Falling In Love". kzread.info/dash/bejne/lGWKxZmfh7jKd6w.html&ab_channel=Queen%26Beatles%28qnb%29

Which is her singing 2 songs accompanied only by her father on acoustic guitar at Chess Records; It may be too long for your reaction as there is some chatting but the first is a cover of Blind Faith’s “Can’t find my way home” from 1m22s to 5m16s followed by her original “Don’t know how to love you” from 6m45s to 11m04s. You are right that Haley can sing many genre and also incorporates rock, jazz, blues etc into whatever she sings; making her unique sound. She also seems to be able to become a different personality to inhabit each song and have fun too!

Haley's biggest musical influences are her parents. They are musicians and have a band that primarily performs rock songs. She incorporates elements of rock, jazz, funk, blues, and soul in her own music. Her high school Music Director in 2011: "She’s always been a very smart musician, both theoretically and creatively. She’s been exposed to a huge variety of music her whole life, and it shows comfortably in anything she attempts to sing."

A New Orleans Dirge has an interesting history. A dirge is a slow, melodic, mourning song. In New Orleans, the tradition is to have a literal funeral March with a band playing a dirge behind the coffin as it is marched to the cemetery. At some point, it breaks out into a lively song to celebrate the life the person who passed. It’s really a beautiful thing. I am sure someone from New Orleans can elaborate more on it or correct the details if i a wrong.

PMJ is Post Modern Jukebox. It was started by the pianist, they cover contemporary songs in a period style. Usually like a big band, 30s jazz style, but they've done others. They have a stable of vocalists that stand in for them...Haley being my favorite. I highly recommend anything they do with Haley, but you should check out their cover of Tove Lo's "Habits". It's quintessential Haley. I had never heard of Tove Lo or the song "Habits", which is probably why PMJ's version doesn't get the love it deserves from the reaction community, but it's an amazing song, and Haley's performance of it is breathtaking.

is Post Modern Jukebox. They take modern songs, and arrange them as genres of the past. I'm actually wearing a PMJ "Life in the Past Lane" t-shirt right now. My first exposure to PMJ was their remake of Megan Trainor's "All About the Bass", (European tour version).

Listen to that backing brass.... it is so skilled when she starts at Wichita... the muted control of the band is so damn impressive... SO...to PMJ - featuring Haley's Creep cover, Morgan's Dream On (Aerosmith cover), Both of them plus Ariana on All about that Bass cover.... they are such an eclectic group of musicians not in the the band sense but in the almost "garage/back yard band" sense (that is SOOOO not an insult... come and go and step in and out as you are able and willing... they have skilled musicians who collaborate in the most fantastic way)... taking "modern" songs and putting a spin. And yes... THAT DRESS DEAR LORD IN HEAVEN ITS GOOD TO BE ALIVE TO WITNESS!

B - Haley and PMJ did 8 video recordings of the best songs from a 2015 PMJ European tour. Then, in 2021, she popped in to record "Don't Speak"...but, unfortunately, nothing else. Here's the collection: "All About that Bass" ( kzread.info/dash/bejne/k4CivJOHgdCYpc4.html ), "Black Hole Sun" ( kzread.info/dash/bejne/hGqGppimmsyviqg.html ), and "Creep" ( kzread.info/dash/bejne/n2egqJSqdaSYk9o.html ) "Habits" ( kzread.info/dash/bejne/aZx8vNCvmqbIhto.html ) "Lovefool" ( kzread.info/dash/bejne/loyevMd8fJOpadI.html ) "Mad World" ( kzread.info/dash/bejne/k4qZ2NibdrGxmbw.html ), "Oops!... I Did It Again" ( kzread.info/dash/bejne/mZN8sJdphK_bkaw.html ) "Seven Nation Army" ( kzread.info/dash/bejne/pXZqqrtxopyeY8Y.html ) "Don't Speak" ( kzread.info/dash/bejne/hqydmbOuf5yfm7A.html ). This version of "Creep" was the origin of her live performances of "Creep"...like the one you've seen.

Post Modern Jukebox (pmj) is a musical collective of rotating musicians formed by pianist Scott Bradlee. They're idea is to take modern or popular music and remix it into older styles. Haley Reinhart, the singer here is a fan favorite and is featured on several songs through several years. The only thing that's better than spending hours on their youtube, is seeing them live. I highly recommend seeing when they come to your town.

Search Haley Reinhart plays with her dad at chess records. She does a cover of Blind Faith's-Cant Find My Way Home, which is unbelievable and she does an original song called I Don't Know How To Love You which is an amazing song. You would be doing yourself a disservice for sure. In fact anyone reading this comment who hasn't seen this video should check it out. I truly believe that she is probably the greatest female vocalist of our time and very underrated.

PMJ is Post Modern Jukebox, which is the band she is singing with. This is what they say on their website: "When New York City pianist Scott Bradlee created Postmodern Jukebox out of a basement in Queens in 2011, his goal was simple: to remake the pop hits of today into the classic sounds of the legends of yesterday. " I'd suggest these PMJ covers as must sees/hears/react to: Creep with Haley Reinhart, Dream On (original Radiohead) with Morgan James singing, and "Its all about that bass" with both Morgan James and Haley Reinhart and one other great singer. Another good one, is Morgan James and Haley Reinhart on their own (without PMJ), singing the Beatles "Dear Prudence" accompanied by Morgan's husband on guitar as they all sit on the couch!

Best vocalist you got in the US right now, period. Peace and love from Bavaria! Original songs: Quite a lot of great stuff as well, a good introduction would be "Don't Know How To Love You", if possible do a double reaction: a) the stripped down version with just her Dad accompanying her on guitar done at Chess records, b) the fully orchestrated version recorded direct to vinyl at Austria for the score of the movie "An Impossible Project" - both versions are magnificent, for me at the end of the day it's the Semmering recording with Sascha Peres Orchestra because the instrumentals are so rich and perfectly executed, and it's such a great setting (an abandoned Grand Hotel in the Austrian Alpes), but other fans prefer the version with her dad because it's easier to focus on her vocals with just a guitar at her side... Anyway a great song and she does a great job on both versions, it's a matter of taste in the end, and for me with my classical background I love me a great orchestra playing perfectly in sync, also as a Bavarian the setting feels very much at home though it actually is some hundred miles away from here near Vienna, but it looks as if it was just around the corner... But I must give it to her Dad, he does a clean job with his guitar and the family setting at Chess gives it a very intimate and relaxed feeling - the versions are quite different but both exciting, that's why I think you should react to both of them in one video, I'd be curios to see your take on both... Peace and love!

Haley is fantastic, and this is my favorite arrangement by Scott. I love the whole New Orleans dirge style, and the trombone solo sings to my former trombone playing heart. He's muting a wah-wah mute with his hand which gave it that sound. I loved messing around with them.
