Try, "The Hunger" or "Illest of Our Times" for his rap-rap. He's getting ready to drop an album (10/13 - Sick Boi) that is hip-hop focused, but he's already said he's ready to move on to another style for the album after that. He's written all the songs for the next one but hasn't recorded them. Warning if you're tempted to try his latest drop: "Love Music 4" ... that one is rather explicit. It's fun, but not one to listen to with your kids or you mom around. LOL. Ren defies being boxed in to a single genre. And I'm happy, because he's so versatile! (Want a 50s doo-wop? "Oh My Woman")

I have learned a lot about rap history from watching reacitons to Ren's music from reactors that point out the history of Rap and Hip Hop and how often Ren pays homage to the peolple whose music inspired him, I knew nothing about battle rap until Ren was involved in it, really interesting to find out the origins, history and reasons for the genre. Black Pegasus and Knox Hill have both given me a lot of insight into his messages and homages, most of which went right over my head until pointed out.

I found this many Beasts/Monsters/Murderers that are mentioned/referenced in "Losing It" 1. Fee fee, fi fi, fo fo, fum - Giant from Jack & the Beanstalk 2. Scooby Doo - & Crew hunt Monsters 3. Ghost 4. Poltergeist 5. I’m a Demon 6. Morgan Freeman - imprisoned for murder in Shawshank Redemption. 7. Rag and Bone Man - known as the bone-grubber, bone-picker. 8. Macbeth - the protagonist is a monster due to the murders he committed. 9. A Werewolf out in the moonlight 10. A blood sucking parasite - Lyme Disease Tick 11. Vampire 12. Venom - Marvel Universe 13. Pop one, pop two, drop three men - Squid Games Murders (Red Light - Green Light) 14. Godzilla 15. Gorilla in the Jungle - King Kong 16. Bear in the Wood - Grizzly 17. Mordor Lord - Sauron 18. Nazgul - Dark Servants of Sauron 19. The Devil There are many other groupings like Actors/Films, Singers/Songs & of course Sexual Innuendo lol. Oh and double & Triple entendre sprinkled everywhere thru the lyrics.

    1. could be amended to "Fee fee, fi fi, fo fo, fum, Are you dizzy" - Dizzie Gillespie's "The Giant" 1975 kzread.info/dash/bejne/hJyDxsmYYrrghdI.html with a shout out to the Disco Doc for making the connection. 8. Ren sings "I'm about to go Macbeth" and goes Triple Time. The play Macbeth by W. Shakespeare has the subtext of time. In short, Macbeth did not need to murder anyone, with time he would have made king anyway, and no subsequent murder would have been needed in order not to run out of time. But then, there would have been no famous play. Macbeth=speeding up Time. 12. Venom - also a single by Little Simz 15. Gorilla - Another smashing single by Little Simz from the current album No Thank You, Ren watches it in one of his sessions on @renmakestwitch, I think it was the Animal Flow one; also the Gorilla in Animal Flow, both played by Ren's gf at the time.

Dont disagree about his balling skills, but I dont think he has ever claimed to be a wizard on the court, just a wiz on the mic. Who cares about his court skills? Besides he is clearly mixing serious rapping skills and serious penmanship (although cleverly disguised mostly in this song) with having a little fun. Which is who REN is.

For some more Ren rap, start with "Genesis and Sick boi" move to "Ocean feat Eden Nash" "Humble feat Eden Nash" "Blind eyed feat Sam Tompkins" "The hunger" "Power" "Illest of our time" "Murderer" and i can go on but yeah ..... Ren produces all the beasts lirycs are written by him on all the songs above i wrote. Here he uses a EDM beat from Australian DJ, this song isn't on spotify because the dj didn't like what Ren did with it and striked him so even if he wanted to put it out as a cover in an album he cant even tough most of the people that listen to it think its FIRE.

People get so defensive of music genres, and it makes no sense. Rap, hip-hop, rock, country, jazz, it's all just techniques, instruments, and tempos. Where you're from, your background, simply influences which direction you'll most likely go, not your ability to get there. It can help a lot, mainly for rappers (I'm looking at you mumble rappers, dubstep) where the focus isn't on lyrics, voice, or technique, but on the beat. But what helps the most in any music is skill. That's how Ren can be successful in a half-dozen different genres; Rap, Rock, Classical, Pop, Reggaeton, and Bardcore. It's because he's simply good at it, not because he belongs in it.

The whole gatekeeping and wanting rap to be "black music" is just stupid. I get that there's a lot of history behind hiphop and all, but times have changed. A lot of hiphop artists today isn't even doing it because of history or culture, they're just doing it for money. Hiphop/rap has gotten so big that it can't be considered underground or anything like that, it's a big industry and it's definitely become mainstream. Also, the people that want rap to be "black" and exclude white rappers from being part the culture and all that, are a bunch of hypocrites. They don't want white rappers to be part of their culture but they don't mind getting rich off of their white fanbases and audiences. Calling white rappers "guests" in hiphop is just disrespectful. That's like saying Kobe was a "guest" in basketball.

@@Qalibrated you make perfect sense to me and I agree with 99.95% of what you said. The only thing I may debate about is the last sentence. I would say calling white rappers "guests" is more akin to saying "Neon" Dion Sanders was. "guest" to baseball when he should have stayed in his lane with football." You could say the same things about Bo Jackson AND Jim Brown. I think her take on this topic is a totally 90's take that needs updating. Not bashing, offering an alternative perspective.

@@aaronhommel4615 That's fair enough. I know it's not a one to one comparison, as hiphop has more cultural significance than basketball. But modern day basketball was invented by a white guy and started as a "white" game but people still consider it black culture and i don't think anyone, white or black, consider black NBA players as "guests" in the game. Which i agree with, i don't consider it a "white" sport and accolades should be given based on merits, not race. I get that the rap game has very different roots and all but the landscape have changed A LOT and hiphop, rap in particular, has become very widespread and mainstream. People who think that white people don't belong in rap, it just seems like a very outdated mindset. I don't really understand the duality of wanting inclusion and equality in all aspects of society but wanting exclusion and segregation in music and culture. Maybe it would be easier for me to understand if i was american, it just seems counterintuitive to me. Sorry for the wall of text lol
