Britt, you're missing out not seeing this music video. The dance is iconic, and it's a real banger! This is a more chill version, more acoustic. And while they say they've been performing this song for 22 years, think about this. This video is from 22 years ago. So really, this song has been performed for 40+ years now!

@@robertkern9911 Every single video. I mean I love her, but thinking of what her reactions COULD be to the best versions of all these....... I mean the actual video to this one. To have her react to the dancing, and even the story/theme would be so much more amazing.

@@TheVoyceman Thats not it others do the good videos all the time. I think its because like me she likes liver performances the problem is not all of those are good especially when its 40 years after their prime. I always make sure to leave a l;ink to whatever song I want reacted to and search before I ask. The thing is you cant do a 1st reaction that way. You only have that 1st reaction once. I dont know if she picks the songs or its by users request. I get so excited when I see shes doing a song I love and then the heartbreak when the version sucks lol :) Still shes 1 of if not the best reactors around as you can see by how fast her channel is growing

The original version is very much a "rock anthem" that captures the angst and longing of a new and fragile love. This version is a "ballad" that expresses the acceptance and compassion of a long shared love together. For one song to so perfectly show two different extremes so beautifully is incredible!

The guitarist is her husband, Neil Giraldo, and they have been together since the beginning. A very successful marriage, which is rare in entertainment. Also, Pat was originally to be an opera singer. Watch the movie FAST TIMES AT RIDGEMONT HIGH. She's not in the movie, but there are a lot of girls in the movie that copied her style with the short hair cuts and leg warmers. Leg warmers in the 80's were inspired by her.

They've been together since early in Pat's long career, but not the very beginning...which was in Richmond, VA in the mid-70s with a ten-person band called Coxon's Army. She was a bank teller by day and a lounge singer after dark! In '75, Pat's first husband (Dennis Benetar) was discharged from the Army and the couple moved to NYC. A few years later, they divorced. Pat & Neil worked together and, eventually, were married in 1982.

An incredible performer with a beautiful, yet powerful, voice. I had the great fortune of seeing her just before the fame. One of those serendipitous moments that happen in life, hearing her soundcheck from outside the legendary Commodore Ballroom. That voice made me have to go after just hearing the warmup. I wasn't disappointed and seeing her in a venue that only seats 1000 meant we were all close to the stage. One of my favourite shows, and I've seen hundreds. When her first album came out, I recognised her name and immediately got my copy. It's still in my vinyl collection today. Pat Benatar is operatically trained so she knows how to project her voice, but she can sing in any style, from Rock to Jazz to soulful ballads. A true talent and an inspiration to so many women in the industry.

Released in 1983 and it was meant to be a mid tempo song but they sped it up in the original recording. This is the the Echo Beach Anniversary version; another song that was slowed down in later years.

This song works as an acoustic version, the rock version is fun too. You would enjoy both. It was in the 80’s! You remember in Pitch Perfect when they did “Ladies of the 80’s” in the Riff Off and the girls sang “ Hit Me With Your Best Shot? That’s Pat , too.

Britt, I was one of the lucky ones to attend one of her concerts in the 70's. Pat Benatar is a pure ball of fire and energy throughout her show. And just in case you didn't know, Pat Benatar started her career as an opera singer. She has the talent to belt out songs with powerful lyrics and an amazingly talented voice! You can tell in some parts of her songs that the opera background really influenced her style of singing. It's so amazing and unique. Loved your reaction to Pat Benatar!

You were correct, Pat is one of the original rocker ladies. (and she is bada$$) She can sing of course, and you would probably enjoy some of her other songs. That is from my time so there is a chance I own all of her albums. So much good music from back in the day (think it was a Tuesday) that it's hard to keep track of it everything. 😄

B - Pat was a trailblazer among female rockers. She took arrows, insults, and abuse in the male-dominated music industry -- future generations of female rockers owe her a debt of gratitude. As a female in today's entertainment industry, you can fully appreciate her autobiography, "Between a Heart and a Rock Place." It was published in 2011 and details her struggle to succeed in a system where the odds were stacked against women.

I am partial to the more rockin’ Pat Benatar on songs like Hell Is For Children, Fire and Ice, Heartbreaker. But you should watch the video for Shadows of the Night and see if you recognize the famous actors in it that just happened to be shooting in the next studio and wanted to be in the video.
