There are post-production effects here, but the vocal sound is real. It's her. She's using what are known as the vestibular (or 'false') folds of her larynx combined with breath flow control to create that growl. Done correctly (like she does), it doesn't hurt the voice or damage the vocal cords. I went to see them live last week and they are even better on stage. Phenomenal musicians with a phenomenal vocalist. This is a rabbit hole worth falling down, trust me, explore more and the fascination just grows and grows.

Whole-heartedly agree, with 1 exception. She sometimes does go with vocal fry screams which are (unfortunately) harmful in the long run. I only say this as I wish that she could preserve that beautiful voice for longer!

Agreed, the bass guitar player, drummer, vocals its all INCREDIBLE. They way they stop and go, change rhythm/beats lower and raise the tone/sound volume. I have heard professional music teachers do a technical break down of the bassist rifts and drummer cadences. They are all phenomenal! Edit: Seemed like she has seen this or was ready for it though... 1:48 Perfect time to pause and comment about her "unique voice". 1:53 blank stare; follow by 1:56 fighting back a smile. 2:02 mouth way down eyebrows forced way up. Then for 30 seconds up to pause not one eyebrow twitch. Un-subbed.

That is all Tatiana. She can really do that with her voice. To appreciate how good this band is, react to their live performances. I recommend "Perennial" live at Wacken for a follow up reaction. P.S. Jinjer and Napalm Records are very reactor friendly and you do not have to mask your videos.

Perennial was a good one but that is the major issue I have with this band. It seems to be just shock value and lets surprise people that I can growl. What is so surprising about it? If she sang more and just growled when necessary I might like it more. The growling vocal didn't make sense at all in this song.

Tatiana is one of the most talented vocalists out there with her insane range. The rest of the band is at the top of their game also with extremely complicated time signature changes and use of so many different types of music. To hear her live , I suggest Perennial, live at Wacken. You can't go wrong with anything from this band.

That is all her, she can do it live. She also isn't the only singer that can do that, though she is pretty much the best at it. Other singers that can do it well are Courtney LaPlante from Spiritbox, Alissa White-Gluz from Arch Enemy, Floor Jansen from Nightwish, Mayu from Nemophila and Will Ramos from Lorne Shore; this is by no means a complete list of singers that can do it, in fact more than half of the metal singers in the world are capable of some variation on it (just maybe not as intense). The Fairy Voicemother, a vocal coach/reactor, in her reaction to this same video has a good explanation of what is going on, along with a demonstration; for someone who is not a metal singer she is crazy good at it.

But yes, that’s all Tatiana (minus some vocal layering done in post). She absolutely does it live. And she is a PHENOMENAL show-person on top of all that vocal talent. As far as what it’s called, you can just call it “harsh vocals” and then the singing is usually called “cleans or clean vocals”. Definitely recommend “Perennial” live at Wacken and her one-take performance of “Judgment (& Punishment)”. I hope you’ll do more Jinjer. Hope you have the day you deserve. 😊🤘🏻

Saw them live last November in Cleveland Oh. The most incredible live show I've ever seen and I've seen many. Their videos, while well done, do them no justice. To see them live is an absolutely unbelievable experience. Great musicianship and Tati is an absolute monster vocalist.

Yea like others said, it is her voice but in studio recordings they will layer it and add effects. Check her out live like a song called “Perennial” live at Wacken to hear how it sounds without it.

A couple of years ago, Elizabeth (the opera singer) at the charismatic voice channel did the most relaxed interview with Tatiana I've ever seen. It's called Tea time with Tati - and they go into the band's history, and her growls, how they happen n stuff. Perennial, live at Wacken is generally the next stepping stone in the pond for Jinjer but there are no bad songs. The video for Vortex is outstanding too. They are a very tight band.

Since 10 years... the BEST female Metal Vocalist, and the new Queen of Metal... this Tatiana is amazing, and the musicians are very talented !!! If you want see her in live, the last song of this live, you can see why i say that (new Queen)... she's simply the best, for sure (and not only my opinion). If you React about this Live in Germany, see the song title below (Perennial) JINJER - Perennial (Live at Wacken Open Air 2019) | Napalm Records Thx so much my Dear

I just saw you on MrLboyd's reaction channel. I didn't realize you were cousins, so that's amazing. Two of my favorite reactors....cool. That lower croaky "Brittney" voice is called vocal fry. It's a staple in the heavier vocal techniques. Pop singers use it to a different effect. It's a great example of how all kinds of singers across different genres draw from the same toolbox.

It is her, and by far she is the best at it. The video says live session, and in the description they say what they did. To fully grasp find live footage with a crowd that has good sound.

Great reaction Britt! An endless source of entertainment is watching first reactions to Jinjer! There are other metal female singers that use harsh vocals, but Tatiana is one of the best. I imagine it takes lots of training and talent to do this without injuring her vocal chords, but her clear vocals show that she can do it. As others have said, the harsh vocals use the false chords.

The post production effects is part of the artform within the song itself. It's to help create the ebb and flow of the Duality of Pieces throughout the song.

Check out Jinjer Perennial Live at Waken. Its my fav Jinjer song to date. It's about seasonal depression and how the trees and things in nature die during the winter then bloom back. It will show you EXACTLY what she can do with her voice. I promise you, it is 100% her real voice and talent. Her gutturals are better then most men in my opinion.
