Yup, that's the way of things. As it should be. Circle of life and all that jazz. I'm a U. S. Government certified Old Far..., ehr, Dude; beyond having completed three score ten solar orbits. I'm in no great hurry to check out, but eventually we need to clear the deck for the likes of Britt and her little guy. In the immortal words of the late, great JImmy Buffet: 🎶So won't you dream on compadres, seems nothin' escapes you Nothin', no reason, no rhyme That's 'cause every here is just more than contented To be livin' and dyin' in three-quarter time 🎶 With grace and music. Dylan Thomas got it wrong. -- ✌👤

Bob "See-ger" is one of the deepest rabbit holes out there. Just a million good songs, and the comments will give you plenty to choose from. And Britt, THANK YOU for doing the studio version. My humble advice is: "react to the studio version, unless you are specifically directed to the live version." Again, my personal preference.

My opinion is that the studio version is the clearest vision of the artist's intent. The live performances build off of that, if you want to do them after. Sometimes they showcase the talent of the musicians that doesn't come through the studio polish, and there's an undeniable energy (most of the time.) Usually they are horribly mixed, and often lackluster because the band is exhausted from touring. Sometimes the studio version is the producer's vision, and not the artist's. It all kind of depends, but for me, the studio is the safer bet.

I have very fond memories from late 1976, of being 17, sitting in my 1973 Z-28 Camero, in the mall parking lot, late one winter night, beautiful girl sitting in my lap, the windows all fogged up, and Bob Seager and Night Moves blaring through the Tenna Mind Blower speakers. Ahhhhh….the 70s!!! And now, all of the sudden, I’m 65.

Stop watching the video and just listen to the lyrics. You completely missed the genius of this song. It's starts in fondly recounting his youth (summer), then at the break, he awakes to the sound of thunder and finds himself realizing he's in the autumn of his life and all the excitement of his youthful escapades are but memories. The meaning of "night moves" changes, as he awakes from a dream to find himself "humming a song from 1962 - ain't it funny how the night moves..." I grew up hearing this song, probably a few hundred times, never paying attention much to the lyrics or what is was about. Then a couple of years ago, on one of these reaction videos, I really listened for the first time, now at 54. It hit me like a ton of bricks. I suppose someone your age can't quite know what it's like to look back on your life with that bittersweet feeling of knowing there more behind you than in front. And the thing is, most of Seger's songs are like this. He has this uncanny ability to capture nostalgia in song. Somehow, in his twenties and thirties he was able to tap into some really deep, profound ideas about life. Try "Like a Rock" or "Against the Wind' next.

Yep, this song is about getting laid and learning all the night moves. The song then switches to him as an older man thinking back to that time wistfully, cos the fact he's aging smacked him in the face when the lightning struck. Back then it was the height of summer. Like you said, he was young and free. Now the autumn of his life is closing in. "Ain't it funny how the night moves."

Get your girl after work, and go sit and make out. Who cared about what movie was playing. In my area there were 7 drive-ins within 6 miles of each other. That wasn't VEVO. That was Capital Records. This is the version from his Greatest Hits album which is edited differently at the end from the original version. That is what they made the video for. Hardly anyone was making promotional videos in 1976 and certainly no one who had never had a top ten hit on the pop charts at the time was making them.

He was a good dude. of all the great songs he wrote and sang, my fave is Fire Lake. You'll get to it eventually after all his hits. Enjoy the journey. You're gonna put some of his songs on your playlists.....LOL

Bob Seeger can sing anything. He has so many songs that are his alone, but then he can turn in and sing something like The Little Drummer Boy. I tell you true, his rendition of the Little Drummer Boy will give you goose bumps. Bob has a timeless voice and his music will live on long after we are all gone.

What I love about Bob's songs, is the stories he tells are so vivid, my mind takes me to specific times and places. The themes are common to everyone- and as you get older, and live more, they take on even more meaning. Half the time, it's like he reached into MY memory banks and is singing about MY life!! If you haven't yet, you need to check out "The Fire Inside" honestly, a truer assessment I've never heard... Bob GETS it. Plus, that voice. Plus that music! They were phenominal live!

"Felt the lightning... waiting on the thunder... ... ... ... "I woke last night to the sound of thunder!" One of the great transitions in Rock & Roll. Seger has said that this song is about a fling he had as an 18-year-old with a woman a few years older than he was. She was married to a soldier who was stationed overseas at the time. Contrary to the words in the song, he was in love with her (or at least highly infatuated), but at the end of the summer she broke it off when her husband returned. Waking up to the thunder is the adult man remembering what he lost way back then. By far my favorite Seger song!

You MUST check out: We’ve Got Tonight (the most romantic song ever written… about a one night stand 😂) Mainstreet (about his love for a stripper) Like a Rock (you’ll recognize from old Chevy commercials) Against the Wind (persevering through life’s struggles) Old Time Rock and Roll (about old time rock and roll 😂) Enjoy!
