You have to take into account this performance is 20 years after they originally performed it! They still were amazing!

For those who were not around in the day when The Bee Gees were all over the world live on television In concert On talk shows and YES They sounded exactly like the video too much heaven. Exactly. They are simply a god gifted extraordinary trio. No one compares and if they do. They are copying The Bee Gees.

The One Night Only Tour in Las Vegas was their final tour. Barry was in so much pain from his back that he just couldn't do any more so they decided to do this one!

Another thing to realize is the fact that this is nearly (if not more than) 20 years after the studio release. It usually takes more to hit the notes the older a performer gets. But I agree completely, their harmony together, never wavered. They mastered it and never, ever lost it.

I would suggest the 1979 live version of "You Should Be Dancing" where all 4 of the Brothers sing together.

~ At the height of the Bee Gees career I dated George Terry who worked as lead guitar on some of their recordings at Criteria Studios. In some of our discussions he told me the names of some performers that lip-synced during concerts and performances but he assured me that the Bee Gees never did...just sayin'. 🙂

When the Bee Gees appeared on talk shows they would often sing. Sometimes they had a guitar with them and sometimes they would just sing acapella. Those were very special impromptu performances and there are several here on KZread that you can view just to hear their voices without anything backing them up. Barry is currently involved in a movie biopic about the Bee Gees. The actors who will play these three iconic singers have yet to be determined but I will definitely be seeing it! Those were some of the best performances I’ve ever seen the ones where they just sing a cappella they always bring me to tears. These guys are just unbelievably talented. Talented doesn’t even seem like a big enough word they’re just geniuses.

The first part of the video was 'Night Fever', the last part was 'More Than A Woman'...two different songs. They did a lot of medleys singing live.

of course you can hear him breathing here because they were singing couple of songs without a break.

This performance was 20 years after "Too much heaven", these guys could sing, consider this is also 30 yrs of their career which was amazing in itself. They're doing two different songs here, both great. "More than a woman" and "Night fever". The video for " Too much heaven" was the studio recording session, I sent you them doing it live live 2 years later, they're amazing. Autotune was invented until 1999. The song that has a lot of amazing vocal layering is Fanny (be tender with my love), check it out.

The Bee Gees grew up singing folk and country songs in Australia in the 50s. Barry Gibb sang baritone/lead and didn't know he could sing falsetto like that until the 70's. They realized the pop sound was headed for the dance floor and they got to work making Disco songs. For anyone else, that would be their head voice, but Barry's falsetto comes from his diaphragm making it possible to sing like that all night long without wearing out. No auto tune or layered in background vocals, just some kids that sang together their entire lives. Smokey Robinson may be the only other singer that can create such a warm texture in his voice as the Bee Gees do, but that's only on a few tracks. Listen to original recordings loudly and hear their diction, how they finish notes, their trails and stops... they were tapped into something deep into the human spirit and we all feel something when they sing.

Makes me happy that you appreciate the BEEGEES genius, and the music of my generation.

I've listened to the BeeGees my whole life, I was a preteen when I first heard them on The Ed Sullivan Show. I have loved them ever since! Please react to Wedding Day. They have sibling harmony and that's the best kind.

They grew up singing around one microphone, and were well known for doing it throughout their career.

😃Calm down, not your fault, but it is a medley of two separate songs-- Night Fever, and More Than a Woman. In concert they regularly had to resort to medleys because they had so many hits everyone wanted to listen to this, that, or the other, so they would string together a medley--sampling of as many as 5 songs at a time to get in 40-50 years of hits.

Barry is 51 at this concert! Robin and Maurice are 47! And they were still great!

I’ve watched the first interview after Robin’s death. It was months later. It was extremely painful for Barry. Very emotional. He said it was the first time he had cried. I felt so bad for him. He did say it was the beginning of his healing. 😢

I was born in 1969 but I loved disco music.

They had so many hits that in concert they often did "medleys" where they combined certain songs. This is a medley of "Night Fever" and "More Than a Woman". I think that most of the official videos that were put out were problably lip sync, but they absolutley did most of their songs live (excpet Fanny Be Tender, which was way too complicated vocally even when they were in their prime). Some of my favorite live performances are when they are in interviews and just start in with the harmonies acapella or with Barry strumming his guitar. There is a live version of "Blue Island" on MTV where Barry and Mo are both strumming and the vocals are stunning.

He calls himself “ the last man standing”..after the last brother died, he went into a deep depression but his wife kicked his butt and told him to get out and do what he does best, make music. He does so now with a couple of his sons’ and sings occasionally with his niece. There’s an older sister, she lives and has always lived in Australia.

Great comments. There are two songs here: Night Fever then More than a Woman. Just sayin 😂 Love these guys any old way. Live is just fantastic, but acapella is another level. You should here them on the Des O'connor show. They had their acoustic guitars but there was some acapella as well. Also in some interviews, they just break out into glorious three-part harmony, all the while joking around and ad-libbing hilarious one-liners.

In 1989, Melbourne, One For All - Tour, they sang a medley with 'Too Much Heaven' included, but sung with their natural chest-voices which is also good. And believe it or not, on the studio-version with a complete orchestra and their own band, they sang live. But over many layers, mainly from Barry.

Andy Gibb is my favorite of the brothers Gibb Andy was very talented in his own right. He was oh so sexyyy. Sadly he passed away at 30 yrs old.😭

The dancing you see on the screen in the background is from the movie Saturday Night Fever starring John Travolta! It was his first major role and the BeeGees did the soundtrack for that movie. I grew up in the late 70’s and 80’s and I still have their beings in my play list! You should check out their best song Staying Alive which was the main song of the soundtrack! Loving the channel!

That was when they were much younger. They just have great harmony. They are Great! They are the one and only Bee Gees!

The "Too Much Heaven" video wasn't a lipsync in the way we normally use the term - it was a live performance where they then replaced the audio with the original studio track to create a music video, because that's how music videos got made in the 70s. The Bee Gees were just remarkably good at being on time so it looks like a lipsync.

I am with you 100% on the "too much heaven" video, in fact I posted a long explanation, I will retrieve it and post it here soon. Cheers Brother!

When the Bee Gees say live its live

As the oldest sibling of three children, most days are ok but there are days it's really hard to explain what I feel. I'm the oldest. My youngest brother was 56yrs old (cancer) 16yrs ago. The middle brother was 62yrs old (cancer) 12yrs ago. My nephew said we (siblings) had a secret language. We probably did.

It is indeed dad that only Barry is still with us. He is the oldest of all the brothers too. The youngest brother, Andy, passed away first at a very young age. I believe there was an older sister but I'm not sure if she's still alive. The Bee Bee's have given us so much great music; songs that they performed and songs that the wrote for others. This show was live and Barry had a very bad back at the time so every time he went high it hurt his back. And why the long notes were shorter than usual. In the dvd you could occasionally see him grimace in pain as he turned away from the crowd, and it was worse as the concert went on. They still put on a great well harmonized show.

Use to dance our asses off to that.

Once I heard this mash-up of Night Fever and More Than a Woman, it became my favorite way of hearing these 2 songs. Others commented on the vocal quality of the video, citing how much older they were, how many songs they had already sung that night. What also affected Barry's voice was problems with his back, which made singing falsetto difficult and painful.

The Bee Gees are the 6th biggest-selling artists of all time and 3 in the billboard hot 100!

There is a guy named Phil from a band called "Wings of Pegasus" who analyzes music and singers. He has technology that can pull the individual vocals from the music itself in order to see what the voices actually sound like etc, and he did this with the Bee Gees. The way I see it as long as they are singing one of the layers used it isn't lip syncing. What they do post production is irrelevant to that issue.

I know this is gonna sound CRAZY to some people, but, I am, new to this KZread experience. I am really enjoying watching your reactions! This video has the Bee Gees in a stadium and we aren't sure if this song was at the beginning, middle, or end of the concert. That could account for you being able to hear them.breathing into the mic. I also wondered would the fact that Too Much Heaven was in an enclosed room rather than an open area like the concert could have an affect on their sound?

BeeGees were influenced by Motown. Can’t remember his name he told them they needed to sing. Falsetto. And they were doing a gig and Andy Gibb at the end of the closing song broken into falsetto. The fans loved it. This is prior to disco and Night Fever

Big difference singing in a live concert vs live in studio. This video is slso decades after the 70's recording. Even paul McCartney sounds different today than his beatle days.
