Angelina's voice has changed drastically in the four years since she did it when she was 14. It has become deeper and husker so that her range has shifted a bit. I think she knows the song very well from the past but with her newer voice there are choices she needs to make, so that she can learn to use the nuances of her current voice to maximize the effect for the song.

@@ronraskind Agreed. Like with Diana Ankodinova, there is a younger age where these contra-alto types have a stronger resonance in the ranges of typical adult women. Diana worked hard on her upper range recovery, but it isn't as flexible/dynamic in certain tonalities. In regards to When We Were Young, hopefully Angie maintains her record of impeccable taste. Extra ordinary R&B or Queen of Soul could get too Christina Agulara, i.e. runs, runs and more runs. I exaggerate of course.

Did you hear her break off, and ask, where's Juliet ( her sister) at? Talk about fly on the wall...she is often showing her ruff work. I never see any other artist do that! Love that you are back. You will one day have a national TV talk show.. you're too good not to. When you do, your first guest will be Angelina Jordan Astar.

Britt, I'll just have to quote you or steal that statement "non performative performance", that is so cool. This humans life and growth has been more highly documented than any other artist that I know of. Where she is, they have come to realize that Angelina has to breathe. So I think there’s a Studio specially for her to go and breathe/sing. That’s why we have viewed her in the parking garage singing so much

From observation, she doesn't do the perfectionist thing for playing instruments. She's a very casual strummer at guitar, which is fine. She does work on piano it seems. All of it aids her in knowing what she wants from an ensemble or composing for here original material.

Angelina is a work in constant motion/progress.

Watching our angel grow! There is no doubt Angelina works hard at her craft!

She did this live in Norway at 13yo and it was effortless perfection. Like a refined Adele. Here she is stylizing it with her unique bag of tools, but it also sounds like it can easily go into vocal gymnastics. After covering Mercy, she has found her 'early adult years' signature style. It also seems that she is bringing out the 'Queen of Soul' for covers. Fingers crossed.

Great to have you back, Britt. As you're into fashion and stuff, keep an eye out for Bal Des Debutantes on Nov 25th, as Angelina is attending. Dressed by Dolce Gabbana and her escort is the grandson of the founder of Indonesia. A few years back Forbes ranked the venue as one of the 10 most influential in the world. This was very much a practice, maybe just trying out the new arrangement with the violin. I think we can hear her say AMAZING before she turns toward the violinist and lets go of a smile. A very beautiful arrangement 🙂 Also, just after she started, you can hear her ask her mother where Juliette is. Her mother tells her that she is with Michael, and then she continues. She is so incredibly loving and caring. In her original "What Is Life" she calls Juliette the love of her life. As far as your statement that we always get to hear the end result with her, I don't agree. We have roughly 100 performances with her and Egil or Ivan on guitar, and all of those were 1-takes without any preparation. As per interviews with both guitarists 🙂 Also a lot of rehearsals with her and her band. I'm so happy to see you, Britt! You look like a woman who sleeps, and I suspect you're not doing much of that. Congratulations on the birth of your child. Some of my favorites are rehearsal videos, or any video where she's just "working things out". In an interview at 12, Angelina said, "I feel 12 when I look at my passport." So mature and so professional! Angelina often doesn't sing with as much power in a rehearsal like this. All very relaxed.

Angelina in Boss mode, telling people what to do, and wearing shoes because it’s a rehearsal, not a performance. Two things we don’t normally see. Angelina has literally lived her entire life in front of Grandma Mery’s camera, with two results: One, we get to see moments in her life that fans of most artists never get to see. And two, she’s so comfortable being on camera and being watched because it’s already a way of life for her. Win for her; win for us. Thanks Grandma Mery!

Relisten to this and concentrate on how amazing the connection between her voice and instrumentation is. She hears the accompaniment so differently than most singers today. When she bends the lyrics, she typically does it in perfect harmony with the instruments. I imagine this is one reason so many of her songs have such spare instrumentation. I actually wonder if when she has done performances with bands or orchestras she keys off of one or two instruments. Fantastic reaction, Britt!

This is crazy, I’m telling you her vocals feel like it’s time travelling right her.. what do I mean by that ?.. it’s like the soul/ styling in her vocals started sounding older as she it the, Old and Restless part.. literally dragging more emotion out of the words, the violin rifts is adding to this effect as well.. if you listen back to her older live stages performances, she was not squeezing/ stressing that particular part out like that before.. this has come with her age witch is crazy because, she is still very young.. like your saying, she’s like the youngest veteran I’ve ever seen. Still way beyond her years.. Very young but she has vocal Emotional Intelligence and intuition. This is what separates her. And This is only a rehearsal.

You can say that this is a standard Angelina performance if you have heard enough of her. She takes a well known beautiful song and uses her incredible vocal abilities along with her musical instincts to make something that is all hers. It is like she is laying musical bricks in designs that no one has ever done before but we can still recognize the structure. Each tiny brick has a purpose and contributes to the whole.

This is the first time in her life I've seen her sing with shoes on, proof that this was not intended for public consumption. She will not perform publicly with shoes until all the children of the world have them. That was her vow and she takes that seriously. Have you seen her at 5-6 in 1st grade school chorus? Straight forward down brows shaking her head no. Like she's not gonna sing here. While others are screeching onstage just regular 5-6 y.o. but that face of experience she wore since then. When you got it your whole life you got it Good at 17

She does wear shoes while practicing, but not when performing 🙂 This was very laid back, in the beginning you can hear her ask her mother where Juliette (her little sister) was, whereas her mother replies that she is with Micheal (her uncle and manager). Then she could continue. Still the sweetest, loving and caring girl you'll ever see ♥♥♥
